Pulling the Pere Marquette 1225 outside to get some fresh air during a recent work session at the Steam Railroading Institute. Work by our staff and volunteers continues on the locomotive to have her ready when the time comes to safely steam up again.

Considering that there is a vaccine for this virus, and multiple steam engines are getting rebuilt, or refurbished, it should possibly run

The Steam Railroading Institute should also give the 1225 a new main whistle in the future in my opinion because it’s worn the whistle it has right now for almost 10 years straight.

@@peppy_c I think the 1225 should use a Southern Pacific 6 chime whistle or a Southern PS4 whistle.

At least the pandemic gave these preservation groups like SRI an excuse to do some more maintenance, even if they had to carry on with a limited capacity.
