Agree old lady hair salons are the best they know how to do the best of both perms and cap hi lites, definitely an old lady hairdresser. Like said small rods in a basic perm wrap. Either blue and pink or you maybe able to do blue and yellow. Whatever you are so pretty you can pull of curly hair you luck gal
Olaplex during perm stops bleached sections frying. Your stylist isn't protecting your hair right during your perms! Can have both if carried out correctly and carefully.
Have to agree with the other comments here; it is possible to get and continually refresh cap highlights and a perm in your hair forever without frazzling it if you use an experienced stylist who has a track record of doing this. You need to follow this up! In my opinion you would suit super light/white blonde better than silver - using all the holes in the cap, and would really suit curls from either all pink or pink and blue perm rods! Perm lotion for bleached hair is gentler, so using smaller perm rods is wise because the curls will relax a little more in the first couple of weeks than when permed with lotion for normal hair.
Don't give up on perm with full cap highlights cos it's completely possible and you will look sparkling when you get it right! My sister in law has been getting perm and full cap highlights together for decades and her hair is healthy and looks great! Your hairdresser is using the wrong products and not caring for the bleached parts properly when perming by the look of it. It might be wise to go for more of a blonde than silver color as this might be less harsh, and you will still look amazing! Though it should still be safe to go silver highlights if all done properly! Check the following videos out: A line Bob for Curly Hair - Hair Perm Tutorial by Boys and Girls Hairstyles and long version with more detail on perm itself: Step by Step Curly Hairstyles - Perm Hairstyles - Boys and Girls Hairstyles This would be amazing on your hair using gray and pink rods instead of gray and white. Give you hair a rest for a few months to get new growth and then try again. Perhaps try a different hairdresser with more experience doing perms and highlights with each other.
@@vivianpratte You'll look amazing that's for sure, it'll be worth the effort you put in now looking round! Obviously try google search of salon reviews specifically for perming services, but it may just be as simple as next time you see somebody with a nice perm when you're out and about (especially if they have color or highlights with it) - just straight up go and ask them where they got it done! If you're lucky the answer might come to you! lol
You can have both with the right stylist with the right experience who uses the right products and teaches you the right hair care and styling routines with the right products. You can't do both on the same day and will need to leave a gap in between of 1-2 weeks. An experienced stylist will know this.
Perm must always take priority!!! But you should be able to have both safely with proper application though. Youd really suit both together, so you should look for a way to make it happen. Be prepared to change your stylist for one who is more experienced at doing perms on hair with hi-lites if you have to!
It's so hard to find good quality stylists in Maine lol! I'll look around but I'll also talk things over with my current stylist I REALLY want to do both!
@@vivianpratte You really SHOULD do both!!! Its a good idea to talk it over with your stylist, but be prepared for the possibility that she is a bit out of her depth with this and tries to convince you that you can only do one or the other safely. This is just not true!!! Try googling the term 'perm specialist' for your area and see what comes up. Often the less 'trendy' kinds of salons do perms the best. Tell them that you want to have perm and hi-lites together and want to keep it up long-term from the start. If you sense theyre unsure then move on until you find somebody thats done it many many times before and doesnt bat an eyelid!
@@gericann9117 I'll do that today! I have some down time so I'll research and drive to those salons to see what they have to say - plus I'll soak with Shari in person about it too. My husband is actually excited for me to try this lol!
@@vivianpratte Great! Just be absolutelty clear with what you want when you speak to them, and tell them something like 1) All over full/thoro blended hi-lites made with cap. 2) Perm with tight defined curls using either pink/grey, all pink, or pink/blue rods. 3) Overall length and shape including specifying length/thickness of bangs. 4) That you want to keep refreshing the perm and hi-lites every few months for the foreseeable future. Stick to your guns on this, and move on to the next place if they try to persuade you to alter what you want to suit them. You will find somebody that will be able to do what you want eventually. Then stick with them!!!
Use a ISO perm. They don't swell the hair while perming. Can be used on 50% highlighted hair. I'd also use Olaplex with your bleach. Also use good hair care. Like Madi Bella Beauty. Strengthen shampoo and conditioner. Repair spray and mask.
Did you decide what you want to do yet? I think keeping it permed will suit you better if you have to choose either/or. You would look better with both together though.
One word: Olaplex! This stuff was developed with the specific purpose of strengthening the bonds in bleached hair while perming and vice versa! You can have healthy hair with a perm plus cap hi-lights using this and the right perm solution!
3 to 4 months is quite normal for the life of a perm on your hair length. You should not be having to make a decision between a perm or highlites because you should be able to do both. If your hair is being damaged it is due to errors made by your stylist. That is not to say she's a bad stylist as different stylists specialise in different things. You need to find a stylist who specialises in perms and color, because they will have done thousands of perms on highlited hair in their career. They will know what to do to protect your bleached hair during your perms, and how to protect your permed hair during bleaching/highliting sessions. They will know how to maintain your curls and color over the long haul without damage as well. Time to look further afield in my opinion.
@@vivianpratte This is super! So you will have wonderful frosted curly hair and will look very beautiful for the Christmas season! Will you still film full process for both?
Looks like everyone says you can get both. I don't know about at the same time tho?? I agree with one comment that said go to an old lady lol. Both people I let do my hair are older and been doing hair for Years
How about this suggestion: Skip this perm to allow your virgin hair to grow out until March. Then your hair should be strong enough to do pink and blue rod perm AND full head cap highlights! Your stylist should be able to do the necessary preparation/conditioning treatments to your hair before and in between, as well as using rebalancing serum, perm solution designed for bleached hair and olaplex. Do video search for "Olaplex perm on highlighted hair using carver European perm rods modernedgesalon". It is possible to do both services and maintain healthy hair if done and maintained correctly - you just need to grow out your hair til March and start again! If I had to pick though, the perm would win every time!
Agree with this - it is just a slight problem with perming technique your hairdresser is using on your hilighted hair! Have a look at Jorg Mengel's channel for tons of examples of perms done successfully on hair much more heavily bleached than yours! If your hairdresser is still unsure then switch to an "old lady" salon as they will have been doing 10+ perms a day on all kinds of hair all the way through the 90s and will be experts at doing and keeping up perms and full head cap hilights both together long term! Again agree perm is most important, but there is *no reason* you can't have both if done right!
