Hello. I am from Iran . I was born in one of the most noble tribes of Iran, namely Lor. We live in the southwest of Iran and this weapon is very popular among our people. It is really a unique weapon. I am truly grateful to the great Reza Shah for leaving such a legacy for me and for serving me and my compatriots so much. May God keep you in his arms. I suggest you research him. Long live Iran ❤️

The text on the receiver actually says “Long rifle model 1317 Brno firearms factory”. 1317 in the Persian calendar is 1939 in the common Gregorian calendar. I am a former Persian linguist for the U.S. military and later as a government contractor.

@Michael Srite If America didn't get involved in Iran, the country would've been another Soviet Republic. Thank god America was involved in Iran, but unfortunately the carter administration wanted to replace the Shah. The allies invaded Iran in WWII so they can ship war materials to the Soviets. After the war they left Iran except for the Soviets. The Soviets attempted to convert N. Iran into a Soviet Republic. In response, Truman basically told Stalin, if you don't leave N. Iran, Moscow will be another Hiroshima. Stalin high tailed out of Iran like the coward bully he was. Americans helped Iran A lot, but unfortunately, things didn't work out in the long run.

@@marklucca3044 bro America didn't help iran it helped it self .shah was definitely not perfect but if Iranian people are suffering today its because America replaced shah with khomeini .that's why iranian people can never trust America or Iran's government. they are on their own if they want to make iran a better place. let's not forget US government is responsible of almost all wars in modern history.

It’s says “Long rifle model 1317 Brno gun factory”. Source: translated by myself, former military Persian linguist *Edited to change “made in year” to “model”. Essentially the same thing, but I originally carried over the wording from the original translation above but wanted to be more accurate. Not shitting on the original translation, either - the engraving of the 3 is rough, and a non-gun guy would likely translate “model” to “made in”.

Thank you for nice presentation and your comments it seems like you know a lot about Iranians ( as you say Persians) I'm an Iranian in my mis 60's I left Iran about 6 months after 1957 so called revolution, I grow up with different ethnic Iranian tribe's that have been using BRNO Mauser rifles for hunting in the mountains or vast valley's of IRAN for ever since BRNO was imported from Czech to Iran , even today ethnic tribe's and country Folks using this magnificent rifle for hunting and self defence against unlawful government forces/Mercenaries so called " Revolutionary guards . Now it's been around 40 years that I've been living in Texas and coming from a rancher/ Farmers Family Im a cowboy at heart and Texas is my second home that I love as much as I my own . I'm a lever action rifle kind a guy and own a few , a few months a go I bought a BRNO 98 MAUSER 8mmx57 ,first Iran armory production unfired old new , I just wanted to aske your opinion with all your knowledge and experience that you have with the Mausers what kind of Scope and scope mount do you suggest to use for my BRNO rifle without tapping or drilling that doesn't damage it and ruin the collectability quality/ condition of this piece of history . I appreciate your response and professional opinion . Ty Sir HP from Austin TX

@rollingthunder6204
@rollingthunder6204 4 года назад
Careful if it's Yugoslavian ammo, some years of 8mm production was bad ammo like casings splitting or getting stuck in the chamber and needs to be beat out of the barrel. If it's yugo you can look and see what year each round was made and by looking at numbers to see what factory it came out of. Not all factorys had issues with the ammo but majority did on certain years of production. This for yugo ammo from the 50s that I know of.

The markings have been deciphered by many others in the comments, except for the markings on the stock. Under the P4105, it also says "Foot Soldier". This is because there was a carbine version of the rifle that was made under BRNO license in the Royal Arms Factory of Iran for the mounted troops and tank/artillery crews. The markings on those carbines, which were basically Vz33 copies, is different on the receiver and they are the most sought after rifles to this day by the tribes men who travel and live on horses. I have both the BRNO and Iranian made ones and as hard as it is to believe, the Iranian made ones are just as good if not better.
