That bit about Maruki changing the art student going through a slump into an archer is one of the moments that illustrates how toxic Maruki's mindset can be. In Maruki's world, there would be no suffering like what happened to Ann, Futaba, or the rest of the PTs. However, it would also be a world without hopes, dreams, or speculation. A world where what you want is dictated by by someone who only gives you what he thinks would make you happy, and would rather brainwash someone into thinking they're someone else than try and help them through their issues. It's honestly why, even if he has the absolute best of intentions, he needs to be stopped before he crosses a line he can never come back from. And if Yaldabaoth's Prison of Regression is 1984 due to being overly ridgid, controlling, and demanding of absolute loyalty, then Maruki's Dreamland is Brave New World, where the only thing that matters is one's own surface level happiness and avoidance of struggle over actual self-fufillment.
Both would fail. 1984 because eventually the cost of keeping such going would result in a society that would have complete destitution with poor infrastructure, lack of hugh quality workers and a lack of flexibility Brave New World would suffer from an apathetic population, a hugh morality rate due to thebhigh level of drug and alcohol, and a system that can't properly provide basic needs because of swallow values
I said my thoughts in the video but I totally agree. It's still too early to give my full thoughts on Maruki since we get more info on him later in the Palace, but THIS moment is a big reason why I'm against his reality. (What's also interesting is your first chance to accept his reality comes before you get to see this)
For me, the whole thing about Maruki changing reality like this doesn’t feel all that different than Yaldabaoth’s final goal. Sure, Maruki is a lot more altruistic, and what he does is a bit more subtle and seems nicer on the surface. But at the end of the way it’s still someone actively stripping away people’s abilities to make their own decisions based on what they think is best for society
I feel like the choice "Waiting to ambush me?" For Ryuji, when it's the 14th and he waits for you, is a slight callback to that exact same choice you can say when during the Kamoshida arc he asks you to try finding the castle again

I've always considered the third tier personas as a fusion of their will to rebel and their will to change, especially since the third semester deliberately reverses character development since in Maruki's idealized world for everyone, there would be no struggles that each party member undergoes, thus leading to their change. So the third tier persona are their will to fight for their world. It may not be a perfect place, there's struggle and pain, but it shaped them and made them who they are. It's why they fought and what gave them resolve to better themselves.

(I don't know why I just really loved that joke.) Ah yes, 2017, the less I remember that year the better. Nearly failing out of your masters degree program because one professor has a personal grudge against you was not a fun time.
...I really need to look up some of the conversations in the dancing games. 2017 seems to have been a hit or miss year depending on who you ask. I went thought some bad mental health stuff them, but it also had the Switch and was an incredible year for gaming. (We got BotW, Odyssey and Xenoblade 2 in the Switch's FIRST YEAR, which is still hard for me to believe)

So a weird thing I was spoiled on, was the Third Semester winter coat on Mishima. Given how close it is to Joker's Thieves outfit, I thought it was part of some cosplay when I saw it. But yes, if Shujin has one thing going for it, it's drip. So far I'm loving the Second reawakening designs. But Ryuji's is reminding me WAY TOO MUCH of Uncle Death from "Let it Die" (Which came out around the time this takes place funny enough). Though that's not the worst thing to be reminded of. Can't wait to see the rest (mostly Makoto to get her bike again, the Transformer thing is neat, but the bike is just a cooler persona)
Something about Maruki's reality and how the people were acting stuck out to me so I went back and found the conversation between Sumire, Joker, and Akechi back in July. Sure enough, it adds so much not only to Sumire but also to Maruki and their dynamic with each other. She clung so desperately to the reality he handed to her instead of trying to better herself, to the point of lashing out at the people she cared about when it was threatened. She tried to relinquish her freedom of choice to Joker almost every chance she got. And yet despite all of that she could never reach the happiness she wanted. Her criticisms of the Phantom Thieves almost 1 to 1 mirror how the world is becoming under Maruki's control and she said it all while already living in it herself.

It’s sometimes harder to tell with the details which way maruki leans and in some cases, he’s made practically contradicting calls. As far as specific details, I think speculation is definitely required which in a large part I think changes how different people view maruki
I really like Ann’s ultimate persona design, fits her vibe really well As for Ryuji, I like it, but not as much as his original. I think it’s the speed boat that’s trowing me off.
So the Phantom Thieves snapping at Joker, I feel it makes just aa much sense as what actually happened, mainly because of the implication that the conversation about the former painter shows that Maruki very much rewrites peoples histories and memories. So when it comes to the Phantom Thieves nothing is out of the ordinary about their life situation from their perspective, Makoto’s Father was never killed in the line of duty, Madarame was never a manipulative father figure to Yusuke…. And Joker is admittedly coming to them and saying that their life is a lie with no we can see or hear, I don’t think he ever mentions directly that something has changed the world that they should investigate. While also saying that something very important to them is a lie, there just as likely to act emotionally especially because it comes from a close friend. What would admittedly make that reaction come across as way less justified is if the Phantom Thieves where is similar spot to Joker that they do not know where this came from but have active knowledge that this isn’t their reality and that their dreams have been realised, because there they know something has happened but are refusing to acknowledge it and when Joker pushes the issue they snap at him. So when it comes to these Third Tier Personas, I will say that William despite not liking the name that much for a Persona I do feel it’s one of my favroute outside of the ones for the two new Royal party members, while it’s way less of combination that Diego, it pretty much uses nothing from Seiten Taisei, which is one of Diego’s strengths as a design. But it does manage to modernise Captain Kidd without looking somewhat silly where the base Persona wasn’t meant to be silly looking, the closest you get is him wearing a hoody, And since I’ve analyses his design the most I shall point out a lot of the aspects that where modernised, he still takes the base Skeleton design and replaces any part of Captain Kidd that’s associated with the part and replace sit with something more modern, you take a Pirate, a type of criminal/troublemakers associated with the past and is normally seen with some kind of head-covering, so you make him resemble more modern attire associated with criminals by giving him a hoody which can be used to obscure ones indeitity, he changes eyewear going from an eyepatch to Google’s, his arm had a powerful projectile weapon mounted to a ship, previously a cannon now a rival gun, he rides on a ship, going from a galleon to a speed boat… Compared to Celestia, I don’t dislike the design and it might not help that I don’t know enough to see how the design was modernised making the design decisions not make as much sense to me as others nor is it a design I find appealing without knowing the deeper meaning like Sumire’s Third Tier Persona, the closest I can see is that they both make heavy use of braids with the length, colour and complexity being easier to make with modern hairstyling knowledge and equipment. So their main skills I feel have the same strengths and same issues, while they don’t make the character using them better at their job, it’s not like High Energy and Fighting Spirit have a higher increase in the damage boost, but it also helps their allies and while certain party or party setups get more out of them every party member has a regular attack or magic spell that they’ve just gotten a feee boost for, not the best for them but it’s still extra damage, have an Ice weak Shadow while Yusuke is in the party, High Engery increase the damage he does while hitting that Ice weakness. But as you’ve said with Ann she burns through her SP very fast even before that, and I’ve often found that that tends to happen with Ryuji too but it tends to be more in longer fights like bosses, with Ryuji I find if I have him in the party for regular encounters your more likely either having him hit something physically without charging or hitting an Electric weakness, occasionally using Matarukaja, while in boss fights I’m typically going Matarukaja, Charge and then attacking to both keep the parties offensive momentum and maximising his own damage output. That’s still 39 SP every few turns on a party member with not the best SP, so he tends to run out by the end of said boss fights, Fighting Spirit tends to make that go down a lot faster since he can realistically only use that loop twice per boss fight.

Something I've been doing in P3P is making an "ultimate" Orpheus. All Dyne their skills, multi-target Hamaon and Mudoon, Megadolaon and Resist Elec. I'm close to level 66 on Anubis for the MaMudoon skill card and I'm a single Ruby short of getting the Megadolaon skill card. The only stat I don't have maxed out is endurance, which is only one able to be increased by level ups and specific cards.
And we are back to the third semester - Also how fitting Ann and Ryuji get their persona upgrades in the same video AGAIN! Woah look at Ann's Persona its so cool, she has heart shaped hair and chews bubble gum and chokes out mafia bois. I will say the lore behind that Persona is quite fascinating, would have never known about it without watching this video. So Lavenzea got to see the daily life of Joker for a bit? That's pretty fun. Ehh, I think with the whole "what we got vs what could have been", I think I'm on your side with this one. Having the party members feel conflicted feels more right with whats going on vs having them be angry. If they were angry about it, it would have felt (to me at least) like it was implied that they were in on Maruki's changes, which would hurt more for the whole "temporarily going back on their character development" thing. With what we got, it makes it seem like they weren't aware of the changes at first, but thanks to Joker they slowly realized something was up. These apologies are less "I'm sorry I didn't figure this out" and more so "I'm sorry I didn't figure it out sooner". Also... looks like Ryuji has a picture of a waifu in his room... that isn't Ann. Dang. Oh, Ryuji gets Captain Kidd back? Pretty cool. I'm always a fan of the monkey king, but C.K. did get the better designs for this game at least, so nice to see the pirate back, only now his appearance looks like it fits Ryuji more. These new PT requests are surely concerning. Goes to show that Maruki can't seem to make *everyone* happy, no matter what changes he makes...
The history around the opera Carmen is pretty interesting, and I like that P5 gave me a chance to go into it. Also, a lot of its songs are so far into public domain that you've probably heard them before and never knew where they came from. His waifu's a readhead too. ...I still ship it.

I like the first Personas from the Party Mebers, I absolute hate the second one and I fucking love the third Forms. These are the best Design in all of the Persona Games!
For the most part I like the 3rd ones, except for the "crotch lips" on Celestine. Hecate was also one of the 2nd tiers I liked the design of. (Same for Seiten Taisei but I like William more)
Back to the daily life in a world that isn’t ours. And there’s some ascensions that need to be done. Anyways, here’s some miscellaneous thoughts that came to me during your hiatus. Fair warning, there’s a lot: 1. I finally finished my first playthrough of Fire Emblem Engage. Overall, I’d say I am a bit mixed on it. The core Fire Emblem gameplay itself is very well done, probably the best out of the FE games I’ve played. (Which aren’t that many, to be fair.) Everything around that, though, is where my issues come from. They range from flawed, but still enjoyable (The class system) to somewhat rough (The unit balance, the Somniel) to active distaste. (The majority of the writing) My thoughts on every other part of the game hold it back for me, but I do think it’s a good game, but not one of my all time favorites. I played my first run through on Hard mode, and I do have a Maddening mode save I started recently, but I want to wait until more of the DLC is out before I commit to that as a second playthrough, though I have enjoyed what I’ve played of it so far. I do need to take a brake anyways to play through Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe once I can get that. 2. Bahamut has apparently never been in a Megami Tensei game, which kinda weird. You think we would have gotten us a giant draconic world-carrying fish at this point in the series, but I guess not. 3. There is a Mementos skit that is just Ryuji and Morgana singing “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” and I just really like that. 4. I listened to the Akechi/Joker “You’re Nothing Without Me” cover, and it slaps. 5. I’ve been listening to the SMT IV soundtrack recently, and it also slaps. Especially the Archangel battle theme. 7:00 Lame. Even the homeless guy had different dialogue! 8:43 A paradise only causing laziness. Ann’s 3rd Tier is an actor who portrayed Carmen… that’s interesting. 24:42 Seems she’s still got a bit of Caroline and Justine in her. 33:35 Maruki removing anything that causes pain or stress… that’s going too far. Rewriting the world at a whim like he is can change people so drastically…
Personally I've played up to chapter 8 and just kinda... dropped it. Not because I didn't like it, but more because I realised I didn't feel like playing that kind of game at this point in time.

I got too impatient for persona six so I am making my own. I got most of the concepts from Inu-ba News' video on his ideas for persona six. I have changed things around to fit how I have created my version. I am just using this as a reason to share my unholy abominations that I call "balanced" personas. 4:41- Futaba doesn't hold back, even on Sojiro. Xp 6:58- I'll always like 2017 because that's when the Switch came out. Took me awhile to fill out my own library of games I wanted to play for it, but I still remember all of the great times I had with the first year of it. 7:10- Still disappointed about that. Especially since it looked like several times during the LP the white marks over them looked like they got updated as well. 11:54- Wouldn't one need to do like hit on 25,000 per day to beat Gary Stu's Record? lol 19:00- Overall, nice seeing how much stronger Ann became because of this evolution for her Persona. High Energy is the type of skill I'd expect we'd get out of these evolutions compared to what Morgana got. 21:55- Could be worse Klingy. The laziest NPC in recent memory for me was in Siralim Ultimate where due to the randomly generated floor layout, one NPC wanted firewood... When their tent and the fire wood were LITERALLY RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. 24:19- I like to imagine after she says this, she just makes a frikin nuke from out of scraps. Xp 24:44- NO, NOT AG- *Everything blows up* 26:18- And thus, Ren had to sleep on the couch that night. Xp 29:42- Now hoping by the time there's the next Persona game, there's a frikin arcade cabinet or game system installed in the background of the Velvet Room. 36:12- At the very least, Maruki isn't an overly evil mustache twirler of an antagonist and is more of a good man doing bad things to help others. 38:38- Yeah with what we got, these scenes still work. Even if they weren't as defensive about it in the final version, to them they still briefly fell for the reality Maruki created and would still feel bad for it regardless. 39:20- Not going to lie Klingy, not sure how you confused the two. The sounds more like a blunder a certain fellow I know would make. Xp 41:27- Hey, that means the honorary NJ Prick is back. Hurray for more NJ Pricks besides me! Xp 43:26- Also another great upgrade. Also really like William's design since it fits quite well for the idea of a "modern pirate," especially with that ship. 47:09- Oh yeah, I remember vaguely from TRG's LP of it about a NPC talking about a diet but had you playing a mini game where you had to keep whacking a ball to her. In other news, not much since last time as I was busy. Just need to win two more duels and I'll be done the Legends Event in Master Duel and can move onto the XYZ festival. Hopefully that one will go just as well as the Legends did somehow. Once the chores for XYZ are done, it'll be time for Octopath 1.
Sojiro probably doesn't mind. The Switch really is great. It has really shaped me into the person I am now. I did wish those two got more updated dialogue. High Energy and Fighting Spirit are probably the best skills of these third tier Personas. It would be a Megidolaon attack item which I got today when I was playing P3. That does make me wonder what the new Velvet Room will look like. Lavenza is such a sweet heart which is why I really like this hangout with her. That is another aspect I do find fascinating about Maruki which really helps nuance him. William's design is really cool looking and also fits Ryuji as well. Hopefully things will go smoothly in the XYZ festival. I will be looking forward to hearing how Octopath goes for you as well. As for me, more of my Hard mode Engage playthrough and I played Chapter 7 today and recruited my favourite unit, Lapis, and hopefully she will serve me well in this playthrough too. I am also working on grinding up SP for Canto as well.

Nice to hear that the Switch impacted you positively as well. I can easily see why since it's REALLY hard to beat party wide charges/concentrations in one move, even with that hefty cost. It absolutely would if she was able to make it. Wait you actually did? I'm used to seeing Megido and Megidola stones in SMT games I played, but a Megidolaon equivalent attack item sounds quite absurd and I hope it serves you well. Whatever it looks like, I do hope by the time we see it Igor has gotten rid of all of the execution and other nasty things Yald installed into it. It is going to be quite fun seeing more of her hangouts (assuming she gets more than just this one) with how she is. That it does. What makes Maruki so great is that nuance and how it's something that isn't usually seen as much with antagonists. It's a really nice design for William and certainly fits Ryuji, at least when he's in his PT outfit. So far it's been... Interesting. You'll see why when I talk of it next time once I have some more matches in just to verify the effectiveness of the deck I've been using. As for Octo, not sure how much I'll be talking of it; To save time and to get to Octo 2 faster, I'm picking off my file where I left off, which means handling the Chapter 4 stuff for each characters, which is their story ends and thus filled with spoilers. I'll probably do more vague or non-spoiler talk for it, but I might not be talking about it as much just as a fair heads up. Nice to hear that that your Hard Mode's run been doing well and that you already got your favorite back for it. Also yeah that SP grind for Canter will be of massive help given how great that skill is (especially for its "cheaper" cost, at least for more premium skills skills go for anyway). Hope the Hard Mode Run goes well.
@@jaredfayette2567 That sounds right. Three Houses was probably the first big game for me on the Switch. Very true and as you probably expect, Ann and Ryuji are also nice choices for one of the superbosses in NG+ too. I got it from completing a quest. It will be a nice item to use for groups of dangerous enemies. Let's hope Igor will be less messed up next game in that case. Maruki really does stand out from other antagonists which is very nice. I will be looking forward to hearing what happened with your duels. If you are in spoiler terriorty, then it is understandable. I will still be wishing you best so you can get to Octo 2 as well. Canto is basically like Galeforce in Awakening where it is good on everyone so you want it on as many people as you can and deciding between it and other powerful skills later is tricky. My brother had to make a difficult decision of either Canto or Speedtaker on one of his units in his Maddening playthrough.
Maruki just can't allow the Sun God to exist since he is the only god this world needs and is allowed to have. Cute kid sister Lavenza. I wonder though, has she a better understanding of reality than other Velvet attendants due to her lingering memories of the twin outings or did Igor give her a better basic understanding of human society when he created her to begin with?
Now we meet the one party member Persona I really don’t like. Celestine. I really don’t like how it looks. It’s not very good IMO. I also don’t like the, minions that are strangled by her hair?. In combat she is fine honestly maybe even amazing but design wise.. ugh… All of Tokyo? I think these Velvet Room Assistants could probably nuke all of Japan if they use Megidoloan if angry How many things has Igor been asked to install into the Velvet Room because of these Assistants of his. Now we meet my favourite design of the party member Persona design. William. I like everything about him. The hooded ruffian look, the pirate ship turning into a speedboat, the goggles, it feels a weird way of simple yet complicated underneath. If that makes sense? Probably doesn’t but hey. Now we awakened more Personas we can’t give up now. We can’t stop until it’s either Game Over or we succeed. On a smaller note I finished Engage yesterday and boy. Gotta say while it has problems it was fun and when it hit it hit hard. Plus it’s final boss reminded me of the bad end game over even though Engage’s final boss game over scene is effectively the inverse. With this bad end game over feeling creepy with how Joker is and all the implications, Engage’s Game Over having a similar vibe of ‘what if’ though with much more clear cut intentions but still harrowing to be vague.
I'm not a fan of Celestine's design, but most of the other 3rd tiers I like. The Velvet Room probably has a "residents-only" area now that I think about it, otherwise everything would get erased whenever a new Wild Card shows up. And right now, let's see: it's got electronica music, game systems, rings to toss at Igor's nose... a fish tank I think? And yeah, William is amazing. I agree, it's simple but good. It doesn't go too overboard. (Accidental pun)
Even though I enjoy the story of the whole Third Semester, I personally have some disagreements with the main moral themes of this whole arc. I commend Ryuji for his mental fortitude, but I felt uneasy during his third awakening scene. It’s quite an odd experience to go through a game when you as the player have a different view on life than the main cast does.
I personally like it, the only issue I had was one line vaguely implying he sees standing up to Kamoshida as a bad thing, which it... shouldn't be. I think the 3rd semester, and I go into this next time, is about not letting trauma define you and instead growing and moving on for it, while still acknowledging that it happened instead of pretending it didn't.
Thanks for the reply! Also, long comment warning (this reply ended up being much longer than I anticipated) I was deliberately being vague on why I felt so strange with Ryuji’s scene. My thoughts while playing could be summed up as, “Ryuji, I’m proud of you, BUUUUTTTT….” My initial thoughts were: even though Ryuji was able to move on from his trauma and conquer his problems, not everyone is capable of doing that. There could be many other people in similar situations without friends to support them, or for a variety of reasons could simply lack the ability to fight back at all. I can get behind those who are strong enough to fight their own battles wanting out, but one of the questions I posed to myself was: what would happen to those who are for whatever reason, simply unable to move on from their trauma and/or personal problems? I see two main groups in this reality: those who are strong enough to face their challenges, and those who are not. Should either group’s happiness be sacrificed for the sake of the other? I don’t think so. However, I can’t really think of what kind of compromise there could be, if any, at the moment. I suppose now may not be the best time for a discussion like this; this could probably wait until we get a little further on into the Palace. Just wanted to expand on some of my thoughts regarding this arc. I can definitely understand that interpretation. There’s a lot of potential discussions to be had with this whole arc.

Some people feel the PTs shouldn't be making the call to reject this reality when it affects so many more people than just them, and that's understandable. At the same time though, Maruki is just one person and he's also making judgement calls for all humanity, so...
Now it’s my turn to say “Ah right.” I recall you saying something like this in your “Thoughts on P5R” video. I do have a slight response to this after some time to think, I’ll edit once I’ve articulated myself. Just gonna send now for the sake of getting a reply out there. Edit (Not the actual response): I’m getting there, don’t worry. On second thought, I think I’m gonna post a brand new reply rather than simply edit my answer in.
Alright, this is my response, at last. Strap in, because HOO BOY, this is the longest comment I’ve ever written. You have a solid point when pointing out that Maruki is actually on the same level of Thieves because he too is making decisions on a worldwide scale. However, I still believe that Doc is the better option. The reason why I’m fine with Maruki being in that position is a utilitarian one: his reform is on a much greater scope than the Phantom Thieves ever had. While the amount of people the Thieves helped grew with each progressive Palace, they were limited to Japan. People who lived in other countries were beyond their help. On the other hand, Maruki effectively has access to the entire world. He’ll be able to reach anyone no matter how far away they are. Now, the Thieves have saved the world once at this point, from Yaldabaoth, who would have imprisoned the world for the sake of his control, either from letting Shido run amok or by fusing the world with the Prison of Regression. However, their achievement is only temporary; it’s not as if the whole world is forever free of malice just because they blasted a tyrannical god in the face. Even as their story ends, be it the vanilla ending or Royal’s true ending, there will still be people out there unable to fend for themselves, and those willing to exploit them. With Maruki’s actualization, there’s a means to reach everyone worldwide, plus solve a good deal of world issues, such as war, hunger, homelessness, diseases, mental illnesses, chronic health conditions, maybe more. The Thieves haven’t be able to accomplish anything near this amount; they can stop criminals, but it’s not like their powers can do away with all the world problems I mentioned above. Millions of suffering people way beyond their area of influence, would be helped, in ways that Joker and co are not even remotely capable of doing themselves. This next part veers heavily into the realm of speculation. It’s hard to know what could happen with the world long-term after accepting Maruki’s deal. What would happen when Doc gets older? Actually, will he age? If so, could he use actualization to make himself immortal? If not, could he make a clone? Create a cognitive backup system or exploit a loophole in the Metaverse to keep his reality going indefinitely? It’s hard to say. But if things DO end up working out, there’s the possibility that the world is saved for all time, and thus would never need to be saved again. Of course, this is a REALLY BIG stretch, and there’s little to no concrete evidence as to what could happen post-Actualization Ending. I have more to say, believe it or not, but goodness, this reply is already long enough. If you actually manage to read all of this, you’re a legend.
