It isn't just "somewhat" canon,it IS canon. They dealt with them not remembering by saying only Minato kept his memories of the events and he passed them off as just a wild dream.

LeonGun8 I say "somewhat" canon because it really has no solid location in the timeline and doesn't affect much, regardless of its existence within the timeline. Minato is the only one to remember it and he thinks it didn't happen. The entire thing took place in a seperate universe, not even within the confines of time itself(as witnessed by the disagreement on what season it was between Junpei and Naoto(I think?) on the P4 side, along with Margaret making mention of it being 2011 on the Gregorian calendar). The two casts were ripped from their respective timeframes and put into an alternate universe. Regardless of if the game had happened, the story would've stayed the same. Plus, the characters' ultimate Personas awaken within the alternate universe and revert back to normal upon reaching their own universe. The only thing making it canon is that nothing directly proves it to be non-canon(and with SMT, if it's not explicitly stated, it's canon in some random universe).

Maybe Yu Akira and future persona protags fulfil Elizabeth's request and rescue Minato. *shrugs*

Hey, if they can do that for the main SMT protagonists, they can do that for Persona.
