Your discussion augmented my understanding and gave me new ways of presenting the information with clients dealing with Anxiety and stress caused by this natural use, and lack of us, hierarchy of mental function preferences. My husband and friends who prefer the Si Hero (Sensing Introverted) dominant mental function all have huge uncertainly using Ne talents. Their imaginings are often negative or even are catastrophizing the possibilities. And in my lack of certainty and trust to use Si talents, I am seeking and deferring to their Superior recall of facts and events when they insist on knowing such things. Opposites attract ! My INTP son married ENFJ Gal !

Joel, you nailed INTJ (or at least my experience) when you said "I'll just look at [this incomplete project] from a different perspective..." when all I need to do is just finish it. It's these little gems that kick my butt and get me back on track when I'm falling into one of my traps.

Infp - is it weird that I am more afraid of my 10 yo than my 3 yo? Motherhood has projected my into TE and I feel like I do it pretty well. It serves as a safety net to me, physical and emotional. On the other hand, I am so afraid that my house will crumble because I’m too distracted to see a crack that will lead to it crumbling to the ground 😂

I think as an ENTP woman my deepest uncertainty would be the idea of settling down which will in turn bring monotony. How to find structure in life when my Ne dom just doesn’t want it at all instinctively? And this uncertainty is not a good one cause it’s telling the truth, never settling down isn’t gonna do any good and very non traditional and extremely challenging.

Love your podcasts. For me, an ENFJ, when I feel uncertain, I run to the Lord and focus on optimistic spiritual principles from the Scriptures. Proverbs and Psalms ground me in this crazy, post-covid world we are navigating these days. Also, Communication Theory classes taught me about Uncertainty Reduction Theory. When interacting with others, we need information about them and from them so you can understand and be able to predict their thinking and actions (i.e. learning to trust them) in order to feel certain and secure in a relationship. Predictability leads to trust I suppose in this theory. When we live in times like today where lots of things are moving and shifting in all areas of life, it is good to have a grounded foundation and forward momentum and the certainty that you are in the right and the best direction for your life. For me, that comes from God. Like the old hymn says, how firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in His excellent word. Like a new hymn says He is my rock, the solid rock, on which I stand.

I'm a recovering INTP codependant thanks to Fe inferior. According to the Socionics 4-D model we value the inferior 4/4 D. But we are weak at it (1/4 D.) So co-dependency happens for INTPs when we overuse our weak Fe to get our important Fe needs met. The best way to get Fe met is through Ti-Ne self exploration that allows us to help people (Fe) aspirationally as healthier versions of ourselves.
