You are not wrong. That said, I had a professor back at college who was researching Virtual Reality based surgery training for rural Africa healthcare workers to be able to train on the basic procedures needed in the surgery. Certainly not the highest quality medical training, but when you are 3 days on a motorbike on a bumpy dirt trail away from the hands-on trained doctor in the capital city, and you have 24 hrs to live without this surgery, I would rather have someone who knows what an appendix looks like and where to cut over someone who doesn't. The early research studies were promising. Video games are improving. That said, the limitation here is on funding, not some PETA bullshit. You can't make every rural healthcare worker in Africa a residency and cadaver trained doctor, it is too time consuming and complex for the regular needs of the job, which is giving vaccines and testing for malaria. I don't think that is the case with the US Army, which spends about a trillion dollars per year, and Army medics who are treating people with gunshot wounds. The job demands a higher level of training, and the training infrastructure can support that higher standard. Come on PETA, don't make us worse than we need to be.

We did at Fort Riley before deploying to Afghanistan. Instructor told us after we were done with the goat that it was in better condition than before we got to it "third group to work on the animal." Due to this we got to learn how to do a cardiac massage. Best training I ever had.

I don't know the goat lab but we had the pig lab before my deployment to iraq. Peta was all over us about it. I'm assuming the difference is just the animal being used 😂

Les Stroud (Survivorman) did an interview recently and said that you can read survival guides about local flora with the most detailed photos and diagrams but until you actually go to an area with somebody who has experience eating the plants in that location you cannot be 100% sure that you are eating something safe.

For example even edible mushrooms are notorious for soaking up pollutants, so one has to know to never eat ones picked from a roadside.

There are equally as many toxic animals. I generally hate PETA. But I don't think people need to be lopping off heads of snakes and drinking their blood. If a man is desperate enough, they'll take matters into their own hands and eat a damn snake. That shit isn't necessary to be taught. And to be clear: I don't give a fuck about the military skinning and cleaning wild game in training to teach soldiers how to survive. It's the drinking snake blood and filming it that's fucked up. It shows a spirit of wanton destruction of life.
