i hate to defend PETA but tbf plenty of cyoa games have one or two good endings and the rest of the choices lead to comedic/bad ends. like in the Goosebump books or A Date With Markiplier
No one is gonna talk about how in the last game, you also end up seeing snakes and badgers, 2 naturally carnivorous animals, be depicted as vegan in the ending cutscene
Not too surprising to me, considering people like them believes all animals should be vegan as well. Even if they’re obligated carnivores and literally can’t digest anything else that isn’t meat (like cats, ferrets, snakes, etc.)
they say that they "love animals" even though they killed lobsters because they didn't know that water lobsters have to live in saltwater. and they stole a little girls dog and put it down for no reason. and they are responsible for thousands of animal deaths
Peta is like the scientology of veganism. They really don't care about proper game design at all, yet take themselves seriously enough to make these loathsome pieces of crap.
The one thing i hate about PETA is that they expect *this* to happen to people: Person: *cuts a piece of steak and eats it* Someone: *grabs them, places them on a cutting board and chops them to pieces and eats them*
Fun fact: the little virus like things from the second pirate jokes cutscene are actually the infamous mooninite led’s that were made to promote the aqua teen hunger force movie that caused a guy in Boston to think It was a bomb. Edit: Holy Crap I have a lot of likes dude.
A “choose your own adventure” game that only lets you take one route and punishes you for choosing another option is a great metaphor for PETA as a whole! Very impressive!
Odd that they include a psa on piracy, when they themselves are ripping off other games and using the likenesses of people and characters they most likely don't have permission to use.
Imagine being a 5 year old and playing what you thought was Cooking Mama and it links a video so you click on it and it traumatizes you for life with continuous animal abuse.
@@goosegas2087 yeah as most shelters have high adoption rates instead of Peta's 95-99% euthanization rate the highest kill shelter has 60% most due to injuries/illness
On the note of the KFC workers part it makes too much sense that they abandoned a great chance to push a anti animal cruelty message and instead push for a racist caricature and everyone being vegan because PETA has never once cared about animals.
Great message Peta, making cannibal island the correct one, I see what you did there. I guess people are worse than animals if cannibalism is the correct answer.
The last one isn’t really a good “choose your own adventure” game because whenever you try to do that, it punishes you for wanting to take a different path.
So, the reference they're going for with those "viruses" is... a weird-ass deep cut. It seems to be a reference to a bomb scare from 2007, when a bunch of LED signs featuring Mooninites from Aqua Team Hunger Force were plastered around Boston. However, a lot of people mistook the placards for improvised explosive devices, leading to a mass panic that costed Turner Broadcasting 2 million dollars. Of all the things to reference, it's the 2007 Mooninite Panic.
11:32 uh, this aren't like viruses or something, this is supposed to represent the 2007 Boston Mooninite panic, LEDs displays of the Mooninites were displayed to promote the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie, but things went horribly wrong, there was a episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force named Boston, but it was never aired due to that incident, but it was leaked in 2013
Okay but the only REMOTELY plausible connection I found was the movie the panic tried to advertize had Chicken Bittle in it. A chicken nugget character was the only connection I could find, and I don't even get why they put that reference in the PIRATE JOKES section, unless they're trying to imply that the nugget character is a pirate bootleg of their OC DONUT STEEL Nugget the Chicken. I had to take four different stabs at what might contain SOME tenuous link to that game before landing on something that looks related, if you're blackout drunk and squint and the power's out during an eclipse... (why am I expecting something at least vaguely like a Solve The Soup Cans puzzle's logic from PETA?!)
11:45 Those virus things were actually from an Adult Swim promotion where signs that looked like those were placed around the world, and everyone thought they were a bomb or something lol.
This. Aqua team hunger force has a character which is known as a mooninites and the one in the game was err. It’s a really stupid joke that got adult swim in trouble.
@@legomaniac856 not to mention that after the incident, Cartoon Network’s general manager and executive vice president at the time, Jim Samples, resigned from his position and was replaced by Stuart Snyder. A guy that would go on to create the infamous CN Real block.
That last game really is more honest that most of the other peta games. It says that no matter what, peta can get paid off to not give a shit about just about anything.
I love the quality of the tomato game, it's like it took them a whole hour to make edit 1: seems like it took them a similar amount of time to make the lobster one Edit 2: Seems like they have the same quality standards for each game
Yes, but that's mostly because even an adult would be able to explain that to a child more efficiently or understandable to them than telling a fictional chicken character about slaughter houses.
Everyone few months PETA would come out with some crazy marketing stunt so people would talk about them. Remember when the took a dump on Steve Erwin’s legacy on the dude’s birthday?! I haven’t really heard from them in a while, I guess they couldn’t complete with Covid, food shortages, and a war
and by "people" you mean "old people who thought it was some kind of obscure terrorist conspiracy and then doubled down on how it 'looked like bombs' because 'it had lights and a circuitboard'"
12:50 Tbh, that's literally PETA in a nutshell, "animal abuse that can obviously be prevented now? I'll ignore that, already dead animals being eaten despite the fact not eating ALREADY DEAD animals won't change shit now that sounds like my alleyway, criticize them"
@@liberationtoday8968 the market put them there, not the meat eaters, I don't wake up dial the phone and tell an assassin I want a cow dead cause I wanted a steak to complement my mash potatoes I go to the store to see if there's already steak, I didn't request a damn assassination on a random cow the transaction wasn't direct, I had no part in that cow's death the moment I entered the market they were already dead.
@@KellyCalKelsey Markets are driven by supply and demand, that is how they work. When you buy meat you create a demand and supply will grow to meet that demand. When you take a steak off the shelf another steak must fill its place. No, you may not have directly caused the cow you buy to have been killed, but you are creating demand and indirectly paying for a different cow to be killed.
@@akkiaddizone6889 yep not that most people can change anyway, but scientist are trying to make sytethic meat so that would help(and Pets still would have a problem with that)

11:35 I’m pretty sure the viruses are a reference to the incident where the city of Boston got locked down due to a marketing campaign for the show aqua teen hungerforce, being mistaken for bombs
What’s even more insane it’s that Cartoon Network yes cartoon network themselves actually where promoting a show on adult swim and the people in Boston thought it was a bomb scare but it wasn’t but it did forced cartoon network’s leader Jim Samples to resign being replaced by the terrible leader Stuart Snider who kinda f*cked cartoon network from 2006 (I think) until late 2010
Gotta love how their Terminator character is literally wearing a leather jacket, pants and boots. Now you may say it's synthetic leather, but still, pretty hypocritical
I checked and about half of them in the last 15 years. (Keep in mind lettuce is rarely cooked, while meat often is) However that comes from runoff from cattle farms that can contaminate fields where fresh produce is grown. Certain vegetables, such as spinach and lettuce, are particularly vulnerable to this type of contamination. So yeah it's still because of meat industry. Just an FYI that you got to check the causes before jumping to conclusions. (am vegan and despise PETA)
@@psychohippie I'm pretty sure most is from human waste due to the way we use illegal workers in agriculture and refuse to give them basic working conditions like bathroom breaks
@@psychohippie I apologize for the way I worded that, it came off as short and didn't explain my thoughts at all I thought the e.coli most commonly present in vegetables is from human waste, I know cow waste runoff has it's own share of problems, but I was under the impression that e. Coli we find in vegetables was of the variety found in humans. I do also support natural manure in farming, vs synthetic fertilizers, and so that does create another layer of threat and why washing is important.
@@katlicks Thank you for expanding on your point, I definitely understand where you're coming from. It's probably a mix of both animal and human factors. From what I can find (but I am no expert so take it as is haha) The most common type of E. coli infection that causes illness in people is called E. coli O157 ,which can be spread to humans by: cows, especially calves, goats, sheep and deer. (and human to other humans through contact with unwashed hands, etc). Manure can definitely be a source as well. Washing is super important, and PETA sucks. :)
11:36 Oooh! This is actually a reference to the Boston Mooninite Panic in 2007! I don't know what it has to do with peta either but its kind of a cool reference.
That pirate game was so 2000s I don't even care that it's made by a horrible company that wishes to exploit peoples kindness to push an incorrect and overblown message. I just miss that internet man.
I doubt PeTA has the right to use Err in their game. The Mooninites are copyrighted. They have a Mooninite. The creator of Aqua Teen Hunger Force has the right to sue.😾👻👾🌕
12:18 Oh, I get it! They spoofed Snakes on a Plane. That movie starred Samuel L Jackson. So they used a different Jackson. It's such a stupid joke. Honestly it would've been funnier if they had Samuel Jackson there. But at least I see what they were trying to do.
They were led screens that showed the aliens and I think even words like “watch the show at this time” but as usual if you see a strange device with blinking lights spread throughout the city it’s understandable to assume it’s a remote charge planted by some maniac
those "viruses" were part of a viral marketing campaign that resulted in panic because they hung up so many of those little signs and the authorities thought they were bombs or terrorist stuff, cant remember the details, but its just so weird its in that game
PETA making a "choose your adventure" game but If the player doesn't choose what the game wants they lose and get punished by terrible references or puns is the most PETA thing I've ever seen
11:40 those are....the alien guys from aqua teen hunger force. If you weren't aware, adult swim had a guerilla ad campaign where they put up litebrites of that guy (his name is Err) and they were confused for cryptic bomb threats in 2007
Okay, so to explain the gag for the third guy in the selection of pirates. Basically, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim did an advertising stunt for Aqua Team Hunger Force where they put up lights of characters from the show, and the local pd of the city they were putting them up in thought they were BOMBS and basically had a massive overreaction. This gag is referring to that
11:36 Those appear to be a reference to the infamous Aqua Teen Hunger Force Movie's disatrous promotional campaign, where they hung LED boards of the Mooninites Ignignokt and Err around Boston. However, the city of Boston mistook them for bombs, causing a terrorism scare and a city lockdown. As a result, the then-CEO of Cartoon Network, Jim Staples, resigned, being replaced with Stu Snyder and indirectly leading to the CN Real and a dark age for the channel. No idea as to what it has to do with PETA and their cause though.
At 11:35 Those are light brights that has a character from Aqua Team Hunger Force on it. Apparently, some of the creators of the show put these light brights around a city and people thought they were dangerous. So the city went in lockdown and Cartoon network almost got sued.
11:35 This is a reference to the Aqua Teen Bomb Scare. These neon light signs of the character Irr were placed around Boston to promote the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie, and some people thought they were bombs. I'm not sure why this was referenced there nor did I see it coming, but at least it's cool to see Aqua Teen references.
My opinion on their message is that animals survive off eachother as food, and the First Nations peoples have had hunting as a way of life for thousands of years. It’s only with commercialization that things went wrong. Capitalism is the real problem here.
you know, for kids! I absolutely remember playing peta games, and the pirate one in particular, as a kid and was pretty unfazed tbh. Though to be fair I was weaned on a diet of shock value early internet culture. These were far from the most messed up flash games of their era
"Lets make a shitty game where the goal is to find the perfect hamburger, and the guy who knows it, must be fitting, an american stereotype since the hamburger is american" "Thats racist" "Then what the fuck am i supposed to do"
Old person here to explain a few of the older references in the last game. The "aliens" are almost direct copies of the Mooninites from a show called Aqua Teen Hunger Force. In 2007 the creators of the show made a bunch of LED placards and placed them around Boston to advertise a new ATHF movie. The city of Boston actually thought they were IEDs that were planted by terrorists (look it up, it's fucking weird.) The LEDs looked like the aliens in the game. As for Jack Bauer, he was the main character on a 2000s TV show called 24. It was about the agent fighting against terrorism, and was criticized for how it presented POCs, especially Arabic people.
The enemies on 11:36 are a representation of a character from adult swim's (aquateen hunger force if I don't remember) if so that relates the protagonists being fast food something peta is against and wants to parody. There's another interesting fact that those objects were put on different locations in the USA and people started thinking that it was a secret message about terrorism but it was just propaganda of the next movie from the same serie if I remember well, lots of controversy in it.
My school required us to do a research slideshow presentation on famous singers, i picked Michael Jackson, and i actually mentioned Peta Michael Jackson in the presentation and dedicated a whole slide to it. Got an A on it, thanks Keelvin!
The signs at 11:36 make reference to the 2007 Boston Bomb Scare. There were signs made of light brights intended to advertise the movie AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE, but someone mistook them for bombs and sparked a major panic, forcing Tuner Broadcasting to make a 2 million dollar settlement with Boston.
