Hey remember that time the AKC killed a random dog they found in someones yard? Or the time they killed a bunch of puppies because they decided the puppies weren't going to be adopted? Oh wait. That was PETA.

Hearing Canada kills seals as a Canadian… it’s kinda insulting. Like yes my country has done some shitty stuff but we don’t kill seals for fun, like the only time seals are purposely hunted it’s for traditional foods and clothing of the Inuit which peta has a nice history of telling them to go vegan even though it’s against their culture which is just really 🤨

i love how peta is like "go faux" ignoring the huge groups of people who are allergic to faux fur and pleather. theyd rather people suffer from terrible allergies then recognize that pelts and animal fur are not necessarily bad. you can dislike real fur, but dont force other people to wear faux fur.

That seal game especially pisses me off because anti-sealing campaigns have had a devastating impact on Canada’s Inuit communities. What was once one of the only reliable ways to make an income up in the far north became almost completely unviable because of reduced demand, plunging a lot of people into poverty. I love seals, but the seal hunt is no worse morally than hunting any other animal.

Okay, the "vegan calculator" is WAYYYYYYYY off. A single cow will feed our family of 6 for over 6 months. Theoretically, if it takes 2 cows per year on a family of 4 for 80 years will only be 160 cows. We've combined a hog and a deer into the freezer so the combo of the 3 lasts a bit over a year on a family of 6 eating leftovers for lunch and a new meat based dish for supper. Breakfast is either not eaten or is a small bowl of cereal.

bro "pure bred" dogs are just inbred dogs. Its extreme selective breeding to bring out desired traits. selective breeding is nearly single-handedly responsible for most of the genetic problems that most dogs have today. It's not just "people getting whatever dog they want" its a culture that has actively warped most domestic dog breeds nearly beyond recognition from how they were only a lifetime ago. look up how pugs used to be compared to now. the appearance and list of medical problems are drastically different, and in my opinion, much worse :( PETA sucks but they are right. the AKC sucks too. also, as far as animal testing goes, you shouldn't make a stance against it until you understand the long history of medical discoveries and innocent lives we've saved with animal testing. There's a reason that rats are routinely used in laboratory settings. Their biology resembles ours so closely its uncanny. we can very accurately understand how medications and other therapies will affect people before ever involving a living person. I don't think that animal testing is wrong. there are conditions ofc. the animals have to be well cared for in a clean and large enough cage, and testing frivolous things like hair dye, hair spray, soaps, perfumes, cosmetics etc is cruel and unusual punishment, but animal testing for important medicines and procedures is a cornerstone of modern science.

These are just messed up. So glad I’ve never came across these as a kid.

As someone with big allergies for cats, it was pretty important to get a pure breed that was allergy free. I think that could play a major part in why a person with dog allergies wants to get a dog breed that isn’t mixed

I love the saying “adopt don’t shop,” however I understand the need for purebreds. I just don’t support the mills that overbreed and toss out. Many people still need specific dog breeds as that’s literally the reason those breeds exist. We made them for a specific job: sheep herders, cattle dogs, ray terriers, retrievers, huskies, german shepherds, Rottweilers, Burmese Mountain Dogs, and the list goes on. We use many for protection of us or livestock, for rescue, for helping the disabled, hunting, and many more reasons. I love mutts but the problem with them too is that with a pedigree, you at least know what temperament they have, if a mutt is a mix of a breed with a calm temperament or hyper one, you have no idea which one is going to show and could end up potentially dangerous if people aren’t careful.

It was fun while it lasted but I just hope they don't make any more games anytime soon

4:49 I know you were showing this in passing, but thank you for showing me this. I have a purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who I got from a pet store, so I'll have to look into this issue more. (To be clear, I don't mind mutts; I just really like Cavaliers because they're easygoing and don't need as much space as large dogs.) Also, I can confirm that Cavaliers have many genetic health problems. This is my second Cavalier and my last Cavalier developed arthritis as she aged and both of my Cavaliers have/had celiac disease. I know that Adopt Don't Shop has been a thing lately, but, personally, I think I'm _with_ the AKC on this one. (But, again, I'll do more research on this matter.) I don't think that pets should be sold in stores, but there are still many pets in stores that need homes. Similarly, the reason why I never went vegan despite formerly supporting PETA is because, the way I see it, the same number of animals will be killed regardless of whether or not I eat them, so it's better that I do so that they didn't die in vain, as it hurts me to think about the animals that were killed for meat, only for said meat to sit in a store for a week, spoil, and be thrown out. Instead of pushing people to go vegan, I think that PETA should encourage sustainable living instead, such as using all parts of animals killed, like indigenous people did before the Americas were colonized. For example, soccer has been played for thousands of years and soccer balls were originally made out of animal bladders. (I myself am actually 10% Taino, but, unfortunately, my family history doesn't go back far enough for me to know about my indigenous ancestors.)
