Last month I tested the Peugeot 3008, and I saw that it was good. In more recent times I have been spending time with its bigger brother, the 5008. What used to be a seven-seat MPV has now become a seven-seat SUV. So it's stylish and it has space for seven, but what's it like to drive? Find out here.
The model tested in this video is the GT-Line, which sits below the range-topping GT, and is priced from £28,195. It offers features such as sporty styling, Safety Plus pack, navigation, 8" infotainment system, and wireless phone charging to name a few.
The engine tested here is the 2.0 litre diesel which produces 148bhp with 370Nm of torque. It's mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with power fed to the front wheels, and is able to hit 62mph in 9.6 seconds and continue to a top speed of 129mph.

Hello everyone, thank you for watching my review of the Peugeot 5008. The written review can be found here: carobsession.co.uk/single-post/2017/12/13/peugeot-5008-review/ but if you have any questions, please post a comment and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

Were you trying to like something about this car? IMHO nothing to get excited about, except those massaging seats! Say no more. Not me, but maybe for a family with 6 kids and a dog? Fuel economy seemed good for that size car, but it reminded me of my Volvo xc90 (2003) sick bag included for the rock n roll.

There were quite a few things I liked about this car, but I'd rather have the 3008 if I was in the market for such a car. I'd rather have the 1.2 litre petrol as well as that is a nippy little engine, not that this 2.0 litre diesel was no good. Thanks for watching Lydia.

Car Obsession this video has convinced me to purchase the top of the range Peugeot 5008 rather than the lower end Land Rover Discovery sport. Going to order tomorrow.

Great video fella 👍🏻 There’s 5 trims now (not sure if there was 4 at time of recording). GTs now have GT Line, GT Line Premium and GT. The premium takes a lot of the GT and knocks off cruise control, upgrades stereo, full leather and 360 degree camera.

Hello Leigh, thanks for watching, and thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, the GT Line Premium was introduced after this video was shot (if memory serves me right, it was introduced early 2018).

Haha, yeah, I must say I do feel it's good to have a tall person testing cars, because if I'm able to fit, then pretty much anyone can! Thanks for watching!

Happy new year....just recently found your channel and I'll say keep up the good work. I was wondering, how reliable/consistent/stable was the digital information systems? any delays/ stalls in responses to your selections? Any software glitches?and what's your opinion on the growing trend of moving everything to digital only systems and controls in cars? Thinking in terms of reliability and security... just based on using PC's and mobiles etc. I wonder what would happen if you're driving and suddenly it needs to be "switched on and off" to reboot the software.

askaniuk Happy New Year to you too, thanks for the kind feedback. It's a good question you raise about the technology. I had no problems when I had the car, but I know The Telegraph had quite a few tech problems with a 3008 they had on a long term test. Thanks for watching.

What a fantastic car, best in class for that interior design, looks like something you'd see on a concept car. I have no need for such a large vehicle, but it's so good, I'd actually consider one anyway, with all the seats down, including the front passenger, you could actually camp in it too.
@CarObsession

Paul Hawkins Yeah, like you Paul, I've got no need for a car like this, but if I did, this would certainly be on my shopping list. Thanks for watching Paul.

Car Obsession Peugeot have somehow made 7 seaters cool again. Great video, your list of options for the various trim levels was very clear and easy to understand.

Excellent review Car Obsession thank you and have subscribed. Being the same height I was wondering how much space you have in the drives seat? I say this as I tested a Mazda CX5 last year and came away disappointed as my knee was right up against the the central tunnel and door with the A pillar being very close to my head I felt very confined. As a result I bought a Volkswagen Tiguan which fits me well but I am not totally happy with it. Having said all that I am now changing cars again and I am interested in the 5008 and (Japan only Mazda CX8 and Toyota Harrier).

seamus lyttleton Hello Seamus, thanks for watching and thanks for subscribing. I found space to be absolutely fine, and it's the kind of car I could for miles without any fuss. I'd opt not to have a pano roof though as that will affect headroom for those in the back.

I disagree with the lack of steering feedback! Much better than its rivals from VW Group.
@CarObsession
@CarObsession 6 лет назад
Hello Sherukka, thanks for watching. That's a fair enough opinion and let's face it, the world would be boring if we all had the same thing to say. I will say, however, that I'm not the only reviewer to comment on this - I just found the steering too lifeless for a car of that size. I've not been able to test any the VW models so I can't comment on those I'm afraid.

I just so happy that the tall ones get to Verdict the 7seaters...really happy about that. Apart from that sarcastic joke I like this guy, he’s very clear and specific to the small details but he mentioned GT line and then straight to Gt but actually there is a GT line Premium which is great for anyone who wants the sport and the luxury but doesn’t want the high GT version.
@CarObsession

Hello Koufaf, thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. You're dead right about the GT Line Premium, but that was introduced a few months after this video was shot.

One of their best cars. (in my opinion) have you ever considered reviewing older model cars as well? People my age are mainly interested in smaller engine cars which are commonly modified but have in depth reviews like you do. For example Golfs, Polos, C2's etc just an idea but up to you man :).
@CarObsession
@CarObsession 6 лет назад
The thing with older model cars is that press fleets either don't have them, or it would be in their heritage fleet, which means they are more precious with them (understandably) and therefore I would not be able to get them for the same amount of time as I do for a new car. If all goes according to plan though, there will be a video this week with the original Vauxhall Viva. I know it's not *quite* what you were asking for, but it is an older car after all! 😂

Fantastic review of a really classy car - as someone else has said - far too big for me, but a very nice interior. I'd still trust Japanese engineering over a sumptuous French interior though and buy a Honda or Suzuki, but it is a superbly stylish set of wheels.

As ever, fantastic, professional production values and polished presentation. It's a superb vehicle. DId I not know two people who had two posh French cars (Renault and Pug) die on them, terminally (uneconomic electronic repairs needed, off to the vet) then I might even go for one.

Sorry if this is a silly comment but does anyone know if Peugeot’s have a auto hold break system like German cars do? Seeing as they have electric hand breaks, thanks

Peugeot 5008 GT or Skoda Kodiaq Sportline? What would you go for?
@CarObsession
@CarObsession 6 лет назад
Thanks for watching Lee. Good question. I've not driven the Skoda Kodiaq, so I can't comment on drivability, although I have driven the SEAT Ateca, and I can't imagine it being a million miles away. I think the 5008 is better looking, it has more kit, but it also more expensive. I also prefer the interior of the 5008, but that's not to say that the Kodiaq's cabin is shabby. So I think I'd go with the 5008 at this moment in time, HOWEVER, my views could well change if I were to drive the Sportline. Which would you have?
@leem5894
@leem5894 6 лет назад
Defo the 5008, I got a BMW 218D GT at the mo so looking to update in about year. About the price you can get the 5008 GT for £29k after discount and the kodiaq sportline is pricier after adding similar options. Awaiting the kodiaq vRS but will be too expensive!
@CarObsession
@CarObsession 6 лет назад
Lee M I do reckon the Kodiaq will be sharper to drive, but I would imagine buyers would prefer the comfort the Pug has to offer.
