My next car featured in the French adventure is this forgotten gem - the 203. Available in a number of body styles, the most practical of all was this pickup variant. I explain and drive this key car from French history.

My grandfather bought the passenger version in 1954. They even went on holiday, making several thousands of miles in one journey. 4 children, really making good use of the bench seat in front!

It bears a striking similarity to the Hudson pick-ups of the period. And that's not a bad thing. it's beautiful.

It is nice to see someone who didn't know much about the Peugeot history.I am glad i have many knowledge about these cars and i love them!they have the power and torque at low speed of the engine.By the way,the pattern of the gearlever is not a normal H,but i think you found that out.Lovely video!

Loving your vacance! I have seen, admired and photographed one of those in the last ten years or so in Northern France. I will have to look up the picture, to see if it is the same one. It WAS the same colour ;}

This reminds me of the Peugeot 404 pickup that came many generations later. The column gearstick, the bench seat and utilitaran presence.

its amazing what 50-40 hp can be used for, and now electric bicycles have that power
@Liam8488
@Liam8488 5 лет назад
Yeah if you put a high quality electric motor hooked up to that driveshaft you'd be able to move it. You'd definitely need more batteries that a bike though, the motor in this truck would be at high load much of the time unlike on the bike. You'd also need a high enough discharge rate from your batteries as well

Good video of a fascinating car with history. Can I politely suggest that a bit more examination of the lines, back and front of the car, under the bonnet, in the cabin would give us a great insight into how it really looks, overall, and an explanation of driving too, the feel of the pedals, the gearchange and the pace as you move. The pace of the vid was a bit slow. Otherwise brilliant, keep it up, great idea to do old French vehicles. The most iconic machines, anywhere.

As we said in France in the 60's :"En voiture Simone, c'est moi qui conduis, c'est toi qui klaxonne." If I'm not mistaken the horn switch is on the steering wheel center.

Well, I suppose I'd better chip in my twopenn'orth worth. And ain't you delighted. Cletus, my old lad, you're in France, not Frawnce. Post WWII France indulged in Socialism, as did many European countries. That's why the monetarist capitalist of today have so much wealth to plunder. I'm delighted to see you're wearing a memorable shirt. I'm surprised the 203 is forgotten. It's the forerunner of all the utilitarian cars, for which the French are, justifiably, renowned. Stop fannying around, it's a bloody car, just drive it. Your voiture actuelle was designed for yourself, your épouse, two pigs and assorted vegetables. Top speed was irrelevant. The USA has Peugeot style pickups, not the reverse. This series is simply wonderful. Please let it continue forever. Please express my thanks and gratitude to your host, for I am forever in his debt.

In 1890......but anyway, the vid is very intersting., by the way I have a 1966 Peugeot 404. Pininfarina sold the same design to Fiat (1800....), Austin (Westminster) and Peugeot. Difficult to consider a national style....

Americanocentrism....the 203 is a pure french product. An évolution of the previous 202. This style was universal and not specially American. Please dont forget that the first car in the word was french, it was a Panhard Levassor.
@jamesengland7461
@jamesengland7461 3 года назад
I don't think this is that. He's referring to the American cars because they're so well- recognized outside of France, and of course in the movies.

Peugeot and Toyota used to be the only two companies that made good cars. I don't know what happened to Peugeot nowadays.
