Okay, here is a hypothetical for you FunHaus. The Wallstreet Journal finds all the clips of you guys making sexist, racist and offensive comments on your shows (of which there are plenty). They write and article AND also email Rooster Teeth and RU-vid and complain how you are racists and misogynists. Suddenly you are under fire from other news outlets and more people are writing that RT should stop supporting you. You come back saying all the statement are jokes and should not be taken seriously and the answer the WSJ is "It can be jokes, but it normalizes racism and misogyny." What do you do? Fight against the claim and continue doing what you want to do creatively? Or become sanitized and not allowed to make any more "offensive jokes"?
@unicornep1818

SynergetiCat or they could try and make better jokes. Instead of going for shock try being funny like funhaus. Also RT is a very different organisation than Disney (Disney founded by an antisemite and more sensitive to the charge).

I agree, If Wallstreet Journal did the same thing to Funhaus they would react the same way as Pewdiepie. I believe there are plenty of jokes or content could be taken out of Funhaus video as some kind of attack towards certain group, if Funhaus is the biggest channel on youtube. I believe I will keep enjoy Funhaus on other content but not this podcast. :(

His (Pewdiepie) videos were already a month old. Media and Disney didn't wake up one morning and thought "oh shit Pewdiepie's anti-semitic", they were pressured by WSJ. WSJ themselves admited that both companies only acted after the Journal had enquire them.

Well that's the point really. I was super confused the day I heard that Disney wanted to hire PewDiePie. I was thinking why is a company known for their children's cartoons wanting to hire a guy who constantly yells "F*** my *ss" in two different languages, and then some on top of that. It's obvious to everyone now that they are like any company just looking to make money in everything they can until someone complains.

All these people shouting "hypocrite" that either 1) don't watch the whole video/only want to hear one side of it, or 2) don't take into the account that, in comedy, there is such a fine, ever-changing line based on so many things. People can make jokes in private that they can't make in public. They're not saying PewDiePie is making more offensive jokes than they do, but PewDiePie has a different line than Funhaus as determined by these other companies and media, and they're saying that in this case, the media and Disney have perceived that he crossed his line. So why don't you 1) watch the whole video, 2) try to see the whole picture rather than just saying "Funhaus, you make offensive jokes, you're hypocrites."

FH also said that Pewdiepie going on the defensive was unjustified, but it absolutely is when you consider the absolute zeitgeist going on in the Media against Pewdiepie; especially given the number of times that outlets like WSJ, polygon, Vice, Vox, Salon, etc. have gone after Pewdiepie, and have also generally mocked and ridiculed RU-vid culture before

Lawrence doesn't think it's ill attempt of WSJ? He doesnt think or is not sure if they did it for personal gain? He says this stuff is happeneing all the time, it's just how it is? Didn't you know that the WSJ were knocking on PewDiePie's door after this whole thing exploded and got media coverage, and offered him their platform for a statement? Yeah let that sink in. PewDiePie has millions of viewers DAILY while the WSJ site has 250k viewers daily even tho their site is 40% their income source. And THEY offered HIM a platform to address this topic. Don't you get it? They did this whole thing ONLY for personal gain, to get clicks. They don't care that they are literally destroying jobs and the hard work of hundreds of people. And now imagine my surprise listening to Lawrence trying to defend the WSJ by not aknowledging WSJs ill attempt. It was attempt at character assassination, like PewDiePie said in his response vid. Like the media is doing with Trump now. I am shocked you don't see that.

@flagmuffin1221
@flagmuffin1221 7 лет назад
He's said in so many videos over the last few months that the media takes everything out of context, and edits videos in such a way that he makes fun of them taking things out of context, like when he watches a Hitler speech in a soldier uniform, and then, whaddya know, it gets taken out of context.
@mchepen
@mchepen 7 лет назад
No Lawrence, its not enough context. Not in that case, and not in the other cases the journal mentioned. They even took a screenshot of him pointin his arm up, he could've been doing just anything. Take the context away like you are doing and boom, you have a hitler child. I dont even like pewdiepie but this was some weird as fuck attack on him. If he has enough viewers that he has to be careful about the jokes he makes, the wallstreet journal should be careful about the statements they publish for the same reason. But if you consider media to be fucked up manipulators like i do, they are clearly the bad guys here, because pewdie's video was just showing how with a very small little bit of money you can make someone say whatever you want... doesnt that tell you something? about the media? no? Cus thast what they do all the time... maybe thats why they didnt like pewdie's video?...

There is a thin line between jokes and insults - and that line is called 'intention'. Pewdiepies initial primary intention was for laughter, even if it was insensitive. That is much different than an initial primary intention of persecution, sprinkled with "humor". So in this particular case of the Pewds I think its been way overblown. He's just some silly Swed trying to be funny; who doesn't have the luxury of being born in a laughable and naturally odd country - like Canada

not only was his intention laughter, his intention was to show how with a bit of money (arround 5 bucks actually) you can make anyone say whatever the fuck you want. if he has to be careful about the jokes he makes because of the amount of viewers he has, also does the wallstreet journal for the same reason. but media does that all the time, they put money and make ppl say whatever they want. i see why they didnt like pewdies video, he was showing how ez it is to do what they do all the time.

Dear Lawrence Not gonna lie, I don't know how to feel about this podcast. Lawrence, typically you do use 'outrage' humour within your videos, tame even though it might be, It could be say that PewDiePie does the same thing. Unlike him, you've clearly stated that you put on a 'persona' to get most of your jokes across from "Outrage Lawrence" & "Quintessential Gamer Lawrence" to "Laptop Lawrence" back in the Inside Gaming days. In all fairness I can bet my bottom dollar that he does the same, tuning the dial up a few notches so he can get his jokes across. But I digress, as I'm well aware Funhaus know, comedy is a art form. There are certain rules and standards people must follow in order to be "comedians", a certain level of respect and understanding is needed to play with the nuances of comedy and BECAUSE of this I think that one of it's greatest attributes is the fact that "Everything is on the table", there are no limits when It comes to art of comedy. It's a tool that can be used to entertain, inform and even humanise concepts and ideals that are way above most peoples levels of understanding. It's a way of creating a profound level of respect for topics of a taboo nature, because of the way comedians address them. Unfortunately for PewDiePie its clear that he doesn't have this ability as he states in his video (My Response)- "I would consider myself a *rookie* comedian". I'm surprised that going off the track record of Funhaus & Machinima/inside gaming videos that you took a fairly negative stance on this topic. Honestly I thought that you would be hitting this discussion with something of a more intellectual approach

You say "very direct anti-Semitic statements" but they are not, it was in the context of a joke. You are just taking out of context, I'm really pissed off. Also it seems like you guys didn't read or watch much, maybe Lawerence did, but then everyone else can't make a honest opinion because they aren't as informed as him and he obviously to the medias side of this. Regardless of "jokes" that pewdiepie made or whether you agree or disagree on how appropriate it was, the media is performing an absolute hit job.

ian schramm They mostly covered wether it was ok for Disney to fire pewdiepie like that or not.. but that was absolutely clear form the begging and it got even more clear when Felix released his response video.. he said he knows it was wrong, he is sorry and he's ok with consequences. what they SHOULD have talked about is the fact that media is basically trying to do everything they can to direct people out from pewdiepie and RU-vid in general. yet they follow the same pattern that media wants them to follow and talk about wrong things

I agree with what you guys said, but would like to point out a few things I think you may have missed: 1. After the "DEATH TO ALL JEWS" sign was revealed, the guys said and the video showed "subscribe to keemstar". I think that is of great importance and gives you the full context, esspecialy knowing keemstar's past and his and pewdiepie's relationship. 2. At 54:55, He did. In the "my response" video he stated how he understands the reason why maker cut him loose, and that's why he is concentrated on the media coverage side of things. 3. Maker studios also owns idddubz, and he is much more uncensored then pewdiepie, so why isn't he being under fire. This plys into the idea that the "media" (even though it's stupid to generalize, just like the "goverment". Literally milions of people work in it.) or let's say then WSJ had some reasons to target him. 4. On a side note, the video they showed has pewdiepie looking at hitler and nodding. In the sam video where he does that, he is making fun of how this can and could be edited out and just shown as anti-semetic and pro-Nazi...and it actually happened! 5. Whatch his new video "I KILL HITLER", and tell me it's not funny. Yes, all things subjective, but that is a well thought out video. (new edit) I might edit new arguements and opinions in here but won't change the existing. Would love to here thoughts form anyone, but especially you guys, gals and Benson.

Uber solider could be an example. They turned a regular solider into a mass murderer that hated people of all religions and aimed for their death. The Sexist character they created in their "Legendary" gameplays, all very funny but I would argue far more offensive. It's all jokes, the media is the problem here.

Marko Erlic I don't find most of his videos funny. Saying "Watch it and tell me it's not funny" weakens your argument. It's completely subjective. Adding "subscribe to Keemstar" doesn't make the video okay either. It's like saying "I'm not racist but..." and the proceding in saying something racist. The first comment doesn't disregard what was said after.
@Andrew-bi1qs

Thaff Eelwen Though I agree that the media is the problem. When was the last time you read the WSJ? I know it has been years ever since I had to read it for a class assignment. They are the ones profiting from PewDiePie's misfortunes, if that's what you want to call this whole thing. Though I garantee his views have sky rocketed lately.

1. The "Watch his video" part wasn't an arguement, just a suggestion and yes, it's subjective. But I was telling that to the Funhaus crew, because they even said they like his humour, so the following video after all this shit storm kind of is really relevant because it broadens the context in which he functions. They acknowledge his houmor and see the parallels, so my suggestion to watch the video makes sense. 2. "The first comment doesn't disregard what was said after", in this case...it does. Keemstar said stupid, racist things in the past months, he also gave pewdiepie a ot of crap in his videos and tried to "expose" him with his "journalistic mojo". So therefore it makes sense because he was connecting anti-semetic statement with keemstar, implying he is the guy who would be fine with these kinds of statements.

Everyone in the comments talking about how hypocritical everyone was. Really, the only kinda hypocritical person was James when he kept referring to PewDiePies jokes as "shitty" and low effort when often times he (and FH in general) exploits the same low effort racism/sexism/shock jokes.
@bigben6564
@bigben6564 7 лет назад
Merrick Cassian Actually he was only referring to the "antisemitic" joke as "shitty" in that people who heard about it that weren't part of his intended audience wouldn't have understood how to joke should be interpreted so the underlying joke or message of what he was saying, wasn't funny for those who don't watch is content.

Not true at all. The joke was so extremely obvious in that video, there is absolutely no way someone could watch it and not realize it's a joke. They might think it's not funny and get offended, but there is no way to misconstrued that as something someone seriously believes and anyone who tries making that horrible wishy washy argument looks like a fool. That wasn't james argument at all.

Battleballs Fair point. I guess I should clarify, I don't actually know what the comments on that video were before it got taken down. I assumed it was mostly positive still. I only saw the comments the day after the video was released. Most people are getting a little tired of the whole SJW mentality. Disney had every right to do what they did. That being said, Pewds didn't do anything more than any other comedian out there. I'm not trying to dog the Funhaus crew either, I honestly believe they're playing devils advocate. They've made arguably worse jokes than Pewdiepie ever has lol. That's humor though. Some find it funny. Some don't. If you get offended by a joke, that's fine. Go be offended lol. Just don't ruin the good fun of the humor.

Ok lol. I'll correct you. You're wrong lol. Not trying to be a dick but, 32:35. "Again, my own perspective but, he probably thought, "I'm going to try and make a joke." but no one found it funny. Not really. I mean no one found it funny." Granted, James said it's from his own perspective. And I get he's speaking in very broad general terms. But if we're speaking in broad general terms, lets be honest about it. MOST people found it funny. A few people did not. Which goes back to my other comment, if you want to be offended that's fine. Go be offended. Just don't ruin the light heartedness of everyone else that was mature enough to understand the context and understand it was a joke. Humor is subjective. Not everything has to be found funny by everyone. That being said, I'm really not knocking Funhaus. I love their podcasts. Mainly for reasons like this. They play devils advocate. Which is refreshing. I mean, how many times have they made an off colored joke? lol. They get humor. I'm not mad or salty. Just adding to his point.

Couldn't agree more. I mean, Disney had every single right to do what they did. I can't say I would have done the same, but it's their business. Whatever they're doing now is working lol. I think an even bigger question though is, why the hell would Disney be working with Pewds in the first place if they didn't want dark humor? lol. I honestly believe they're just caving into the pressures of the SJW mentality. If we start censoring humor or caving into the scrutiny of humor that a small minority don't find funny, we're in danger of losing a portion of what we considered free speech. Yes there a repercussions for our actions. But when did we start deeming a strain of humor "bad"? Scary times man lol.

Because right now you're operating within a bubble of acceptance for that sort of behaviour, with your fans mostly being young teenage boys; they think that stuff is funny..... but has there been a conscious choice to shift your humour away from that? Because it was getting pretty rampant for a while, like 5th grade boys testing the boundaries... but I've also noticed you guys catching yourselves just before it gets too out of hand lately. @TheHebrewHand

Just like half way into the video after a long day, but I have to side with many of the comments on this one. Lawrence repeatedly harps on the "context" issue but so far takes each of Felix's statements out of context, seemingly in defense of The Journal. It seems the issue is that Lawrence falls on the side of "I didn't find this funny, so it's an anti-Semitic statement", which is a semi-valid argument, but seeing as comedy is entirely subjective, that's where his stance fails. In these weak points, James is somehow the voice of reason. The "double-down" argument is also flawed because of what they said at the very beginning of the podcast: He's a guy and his statements are a result of him finding the need to rephrase because his explanations aren't quite as precise as they are/being taken how he interprets them in his own mind. These arguments only work out of context which Felix has tackled numerous times (ironically, sometimes in the cited WSJ examples) and they perpetuate the stigma of RU-vidrs not being comedians and the double standard that legitimate comedians (also Funhaus) are somehow able to make such inflammatory statements in jest. Coming from Funhaus in particular, this as a whole is pretty ridiculous and worrying as a viewer. I'll weather as much of this floundering debate as I can and edit as these issues get resolved/more issues arise.

Goldyn One this is spot on, all the jokes made about asians, blacks, mexicans all those are racial humour, So in Lawrence's argument they are now racists, misogynists and probably a host of other things. If they are ever put under the microscope like pewdiepie they would have far more "offensive" jokes then in Felix's case. Also if lawrence was going to go so in depth on the issue he should have done more research, and found out that whilst yes they did ask for a comment/statement from Felix it was days after the story had blown up. now of course they are allowed to discuss these issues but if they get things wrong they should take the criticism in and continue, but by the looks of all the comments so far pointing things out to them the next comments show will feature a salty Lawrence defending himself and pseudo insulting the audience but at this point in time what should you expect.

the idea is that pewdiepie worked for disney and Funhaus works with rooster teeth, Pewdiepie should have been expected to be dropped by disney eventually by making these jokes because there a family friendly company, rooster teeth is not and so funhaus does not have to be family friendly so they can say such jokes. to put it simply, Pewdiepie is not anti semetic, he is allowed to make such jokes, the media is wrong for twisting it like they did, but disney has every right to drop him and it made smart buisness sense since he was bringing in bad media. They probably didn't want the face of their maker division to be someone who says such jokes, since they want themselves to be mostly viewed in a good light.
@TheGroucho66
@TheGroucho66 7 лет назад
At no point did PewDiePie dispute the reason as to why Disney dropped him (so I don't know why this was discussed as much as it was). The real issue is the dishonest reporting on the part of the Wall Street Journal, where they went out of their way to paint him as an anti-Semite by using clearly out-of-context clips; even from a video where PewDiePie was mocking the way in which the media take his clips out-of-context. But the most they made about this point was Lawrence - in regards to the malevolent intentions of the Wall Street Journal video - saying "Ok...so this tips their hand a little bit...". So it felt like their position was "I don't think he's an anti-Semite...but the joke was in poor taste, he has only himself to blame, and the media weren't particularly unfair" when I feel it should have been: "I don't think he's an anti-Semite...even though the joke was perhaps in poor taste and it's not a surprise that Disney dropped him, the dishonest way in which some media outlets have utterly ignored the importance of context is infuriating - and who would know about the importance of context regarding Jew/Nazi/sexist/racist jokes than us?". I still appreciated the podcast though.

FH doesn't work for Disney so they don't have to worry about protecting a Titan brand name that focuses on mass inclusion of separate ideologies to maximize consumerism. But Pewdiepie does and it seems that Disney was already severing ties with MCN. The didn't directly make any decision as to what side they are on. They just attempted to add their own commentary on the matter because of the parallels they drew to their content just like you did. And I hope that you read this thoughtfully because I watch this stuff for the intelligent discussion on entertainment and not to draw conclusions.

i think Lawrence forgot to mention that one of the main reasons pewds took this as an attack rather than just media coverage was the fact that he made a specific video on the fact that media ignores context for their own gain or agenda, and at the end of that video he showed a Hitler speech, which was supposed to represent how the mainstream media is nowadays. The media then released another "article" ONLY showing the Hitler speech from said video (and other videos) once again completely ignoring the context. Furthering the point of why pewds thought he was attacked, rather than just being neutrally covered in an article.

Does no one see how if the WSJ never went to Disney/MakerStudios then they would have never severed ties with Pewdiepie? I firmly believe that Disney/Maker wouldn't care if that joke was in the video, because they know that it's not anti-semite at heart. (It's pretty easy to see when you don't take things out of context) It's only because the WSJ went to Disney/Maker with their ridiculous out-of-context accusations that they severed ties with Pewdiepie. Why does no one think about or at least acknowledge this possibility?

DeadPixel They did, Funhaus said its strictly business. Yes, if WSJ never went to Disney/Maker, they potentially might not have dropped PewDiePie. i think the dislikes stem from Lawrence's lack of context being used throughout with his point about it being irrational for pewdiepie to think the WSJ is not going in on him, because in the WSJ video (in my opinion) the cuts make it seem like pewdiepie is crazy anti-semetic when a lot were taken out of context which was the very thing that Lawrence was emphasizing. but also its all about context from both sides and the arguments in the comments i think stem from either people without context but think they do and the people who do have all the context

Telling someone to stop watching because you disagree is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Guess we don't need a rating system then right? If you don't like it, don't watch it! Only put yourself in your own bubble of videos that completely agree with you and have zero conflicting opinions! Perfect!
@chaunceya648
@chaunceya648 7 лет назад
Shock Wire I actually agree with that as well. I guess I just wish people were more understanding to the fact that this is a podcast by people who don't focus on podcasts. Lawrence's main goal was to get to the point of the relationship of Disney and Pewdiepie being as such where regardless of the context, it wouldn't work out.

DeadPixel Disliking because of a conflicting opinion just happens to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Disliking a video is more than just a small counter statement or arguing a small point, it is dismissing an entire video as unpleasant and overall un-enjoyable. What actually makes me angry is the lack of thought that goes into the "hypocritical" statements behind the dislikes. It makes me beg the question of whether not anyone even actually did watch the fucking video. This shit happened with H3H3 where Ethan did a video that had a small mention of something controversial and the related group got offended and disliked the entire video on that basis and then he uploaded another video mentioning the counter group and then they got offended and did the exact same thing. I wish this didn't happen, but you are right. It does happen and people can dislike for any reason. Funhaus's biggest point here was that Pewdiepie's joke that was clearly a joke (even if tasteless) would never be accepted by Disney under any circumstance. But people wanted to get to offended and take sides that they couldn't see the main point of the video only the small portion that offended them. "Funhaus are hypocrites" is about the most retarded thing to see in the comments after watching the whole video and the idea of having a video disliked for such a stupid reason in and of itself is stupid. But hey, that's just my opinion. Don't take it too hard buddy. All of this is just something people should think about BEFORE they dislike...not after.

I fucking hate all the people defending PewDiePie and ripping on Funhaus. All these actions by PewDiePie and Funhaus have the intentions of being JOKES, get that through your heads. True, some of these jokes, especially from Funhaus may go to far, but having someone as big as PewDiePie to post a video with "Anti-Semitic" content. I liked Jame's point of, if you're that much of a worldwide star (working with Disney) you should take the time to think about how something in your video might have gone too far especially for multi-million amounts of viewers. Now I wonder if any of you bashing Funhaus even watched the entire video. Just my view of the issue, but I'd love to hear everyone's opinion!

Ewoksson I never said "Jew jokes aren't allowed" or "edgy jokes are allowed" so learn when to quote people properly. And the point I'm trying to get across is that PewDiePie was trying to make a joke which came across as being offensive because a viewership that doesn't typically experience his humor or behavior. So seeing something that was a dark joke on a channel that was supposed to be affiliated with Disney was shocking to people. I'm just saying that PewDiePie should have taken more consideration to what he was posting while in a contract with Disney. I recently watched his response video and have gained more respect for him, though I don't personally like his content, I think he's a good human being. Also, I don't think that Funhaus should be receiving flak for a video that thousands of other popular RU-vidrs are doing to try and actually show more in depth what is going on and their own opinion on the topic.

Horseinapool it's only "anti Semitic" if you take it out of context and the WSJ did this so blatantly its disgusting, if they would have mentioned the context and said it was "anti Semitic" anyway it would be different but reading the article from WSJ made me feel like they just hate pewdiepie and we're looking for anything to discredit him. Funhaus and especially Lawrence defending WSJ saying the "context doesn't matter" is so ridiculously hypocritical I'm surprised they could even think like that. They have literally made a video were they joke about domestic abuse for a solid 8-9 mins. There's plenty of stuff were they have "went over the line" but even the idea of "the line" is so subjective. Long story short I felt very disappointed and genuinely frustrated that funhaus didn't feel the need to defend pewdiepie for simply making a "bad joke" which a lot of people found quite funny.
@theJackRabbit99
@theJackRabbit99 7 лет назад
Kellen McGurkin I agreed with PewDiePie in his response video where the WSJ is afraid of RU-vid personalities and YT in general because they're afraid that people will leave their shit site and watch RU-vid videos instead of reading articles. So I agreed with him that the WSJ was taking things out of context. Also, I meant that the joke had a "anti-Semitic" interpretation, not that it was anti-Semitic. I believe that Funhaus was saying that the context didn't matter at times because they were talking about how he should have had a mora obligation to think about what he was posting to a viewership that was outside his own, especially one in which Disney represented. I think it's sad that Disney was forced on a business side to cut ties with PewDiePie even though I don't care to watch his content. Also, Funhaus was saying that you have to look at the context of a joke to understand if it's just a joke or if it's meant to carry power behind it. For the most of the video they keep a neutral stance looking at both sides but a lot of times they support PewDiePie but still believe that he should've known what he was posting. And I didn't mean "bad joke" I thought it was quite funny attached to Keemstar's name.

Battleballs Don't remember hearing anything political stances of PewDiePie, Funhaus, and all the viewers of RU-vid, but ok. I did say that the media is against RU-vidrs and RU-vid in general because they don't like how people can gain their news from videos rather than reading their own trash articles. I do agree that the media is against "Pewds" and other RU-vidrs, just like media and general entertainment stars today, actors for example

So first off, hello comment show and section. I'm getting a strong vibe that James and Elyse were the only ones to see every video put out from Pewdiepie and watched them all the way. They understand and clarify what was said or the certain situation that was being mentioned. However, our lovely dork Lawrence doesn't seem so informed. Or at least comes off like that. You mentioned the "hitler wasn't wrong" part of the video, but that wasn't from Pewds. That was another video he put in from someone else. I feel like he skimmed articles and some clips and got his info there. Also that "the image is enough context" line is gold. It's not enough context and here's an example why: Bruce himself in one gta video was making some rather crude jokes about women and their place. Now we can take that clip of Bruce saying that joke there, which we the audience know it's a joke because we watched the video, we post that with an article of Bruce's commentary about women. Behold a shit storm. Now according to Papa Lawrence, the image and what they gave was enough context. With that we can only assume "wow Bruce is a dick to girls." Because, that's what the context given is. We all know it's not though as we can out and actually look up evidence and do research. Btw being a dick because you're sick isn't okay dude. I mean c'mon at 34:24 the look on Adam and James' face says enough. End of comment. Too long for the show but still I felt like putting this out there.

Every time fucking time. People dont even listen to what they are saying, they just listen to a fragment of the narrative and make idiotic assumptions or comparisons. The Propositional fallacies are much real here in the comment section, where people try to act smart about comparisons and saying they are hypocrites when you take the things they do and say out the context.

I don't understand why they are pretending that this should be a huge deal and I like lawrence less and less with each leftist bullshit that comes out of his mouth. Its clear that lawrence is ok with punching so called nazis, why? cuz you say they are or because you don't agree with someone. I thought these guys were grounded in reality and it just sounds like they are tip toeing around lawrence and his regressive sjw bullshit. we all(as in normal human beings) thought it was funny what pewdiepie did and I don't even watch them but to see these guys I used to respect trying to backpeddle and act like they don't get the joke. Funhaus has said much more ignorant and revolting things yet at least they pretend to be higher than pewdiepie. It was just a hit piece, it's like they all are trying not to offend lawrence. I really thought lawrence was one of my favorite personalities until I heard him get so happy about richard spencer getting punched, I don't like spencer but it's clear if you agree with it your against freespeech and what being an american stands for.

You guys are missing some context on the "death to all jews" stunt as well, Pewdiepie got them to hold up the sign and say "subscribe to Keemstar". It is still undoubtedly a controversial joke but this adds a bit more depth to what would otherwise just be a tasteless reference as you said. It shows that the joke was a bit of satire in reference to the whole Keemstar racism scandal, making a sort of parody message that, out of context, would be seen as an antisemitic message on behalf of Keemstar. Ironically though, through the misconstruction of context it has been presented as evidence of Pewdiepie's own opinions.

How are these guys in the comments freaking out, FunHaus even said they have a lot of parallels with Pewdiepie with pushing what's okay and not. Neither one of them are racist, they both are entertainers, the issue with Pewdiepie is he works with Disney, Funhaus is with Rooster Teeth. Rooster Teeth has never been for kids necessarily, Disney is for family and kids. In short, neither one are racist, it was a bad joke, that's it. Get over yourselves people in the comments. Edit: I don't necessarily mean Disney is for kids 100%, but they are much more clean and family oriented than other companies. That's all I meant.

James said at 32:44 that no one found the joke funny. That's actually not true. Quite the opposite. That video had way more than the double of his normal views even before WSJ made that article and the video got the same amount of dislikes any normal video he releases and the likes were more than the triple of his normal videos. It's not "no one" liked that joke. His fans love his humor and loved the video. He has done way more "offensive" stuff in the past and no one ever complained. It only started to get "hate" because of the WSJ article. And guess what. Even after the WSJ article you would think his video would get down voted like crazy. Guess again, it barely affected his video. It even gained more likes and popularity. Just because a few media outlets made articles saying that he was being anti-semitic it doesn't represent "most people". The only people that you know that got "offended" by the video were the people making those articles. You go see the comments and all you see is praise for PewDiePies work you probably will find 1 person in the 5000 comments that somewhat got offended because they were told to. The media DOES NOT represent everyone. The media represents themselves and themselves only. And when you James are saying that no one found that joke funny, you are assuming the people that wrote the article represents EVERYONE and that's when you know the media is controlling you guys. Don't you understand? The media is not asking you if you were offended. The media is telling you to be offended!

I like James points on why Disney could be at fault for some of what just happened. In my opinion this is stupid, Pewdiepie has always had that "edgy" comedy which he states is amateur and is only targeted for the sole reason to bring in money. I don't agree with the joke he made, was tasteless especially in this political climate like Adam said. But you can't blame disney for having to leave Pewdiepie behind.

Lawerence seems to be in a constant downward spiral into the far left. When you say a picture is enough context to implicate someone as an anti-semite is pretty flimsy. Over all he seems like someone engrossed in his own bias and relies on other to challenge his ideas for him.

I think the reason i love this channel so much is because throughout the week I get to watch this crude humor that appeals to my sense of humor, but then once a week I get to see that the 17 year old goons I normally see are actually intelegent adults capable of thinking and forming both opinions and arguments about a wide range of topics. I just appreciate these podcasts because so often on youtube and television we see these characters people portray and we get the idea in our head that that character is actually them but with shows like these podcasts we can see another facet of some of my favorite charters, and it helps me come back to reality about the content I'm watching.
