Götz Kühnemund of Germany's Rock Hard magazine conducted an interview with DOWN/ex-PANTERA frontman Philip Anselmo at the Roadburn festival on April 17, 2008 in Tilburg, Holland.
this guy is a good interviewer... he knows when to ask good and tough questions and then knows to shut the hell up and let the other guy take his time answering
This is an example of what makes Phil so unique and special. He is candid, truthful, and gives a lot of thought to his responses. He is never fake and shares his perspective with everyone. In other words, he is real. And yes...Phil you can sing and you can sing very well. His voice is stellar and I hope he continues on for many years to come.

Great interview its good to know that Phil is changing for the good. That he's recognizing love the right way and speaking the truth and making deep sense. This interview has kinda awaken me and got me thinking about my own self.
Philip Anselmo was, is and will always be a rock God, the things he's been through would kill most of us, so all the stupid comments don't have their place here! Grow up and don't throw dirt at the best vocalist and rocker ever! We, who really care are proud of you stay real Philip we need you!!

Has he always? I can't remember, but he's gone through a hell of alot with his past issues.. maybe that has something to do with it. I totally love him though.. his honesty astounds me, it's cool!

It's right he can sing really well like Halford, Kiske, Tate, kind of Heavy Power Metal. I'm a singer myself and I sing a lot of that high pitch like Halford, Tate etc. And I can sing raw too but I also can sing a soft children song. Some so called singers just scream and then there's nothing more. A great singer shall be broad in my opinion. If you can sing lots of types of music, then you're a more complete singer and thats a great strenght.
Yeah thats whats give Phil versatily . It came back on reinventing the steel , revolution is my name ... People imitating phil and doing cover bands of Pantera cant fuckin do it right ... So the power metal songs...forget it .

Well, he did heroine to stop the pains, then he replaced it with something less deadly that he claims made him even slower. I think he's meant to be clean now but I guess that it had quite an effect on him in the long term. Some damage cannot be undone. :-( But at least, he might be slow but his reasoning is still normal and quite deep. And his voice is back.

Wow dude, I honestly think phill is a good guy. And despite any of these problems against the abbot brothers, I don't think phill would convince some crazy bastard to kill them. What happened is the Columbus douchebag felt it was the Abbot brothers whom where standing in the way of Pantera being together. So he planned to kill the abbot brothers to get some personal revenge. End of story, no conspiracy here. So if your a true Pantera fan, don't make a villain out of phill.
This interview kinda worries me. I bet after his back surgery they gave Phil opiates. Nothing else would help the pain enough. You don't want to give opiates to a former heroin addict. It seems kinda like he may be on it again.
Well he will never be the same after using heroin for a few years straight, but he is still a heavy metal god. Much like Ozzy, drugs have done permanent damage to him, and thats why he is like the way he is. At least he was smart enough to quit the hard shit before it killed him. That's why I stick with weed, and I don't trust any of them hard drugs, they will take a toll on you.
I can't stand to see how much this guy has been fucked the last ten years 34 year's old been through a best friend dying a major disaster like katrina being blamed for being the reason for his death and accused of a racist shit like that changes you into an old man if not a dead man in that time hard to believe it is the same guy glad to see he seem's happier though less hatefull.
Phil Anselmo is one fucking musical genious. Im big fan of him. He has done many stupid things and many good things in his life like everydody does. I respect him very much but i think he has a little problem with weed. :)
