To be honest, he's one of the smartest culprits to date that wasn't a 'final' boss. And he puts up a much greater fight than most early game culprits (Sawit, Redd White, Dahlia, etc.)
Luke’s plan was on some level 5000 IQ shit, but he couldn’t keep his mouth shut long enough to get a clean getaway in the end. Everything about him is hilarious and bizarre, he’s like the perfect AA villain.

I have only played the trilogy yet, but are there actually any more concrete years in the series? The only thing I can think of is Phoenix mentioning DL-06 happened in 2001, almost exactly 15 years from then. It seems that everything else is based on relative information from that statement.
Really fun villain. His shenanigans were hilarious. Even though he proved in the end to be worthy of being taken seriously, kinda taking that goofy flair from him. He also kinda reminds me of Waluigi, from the Mario franchise. Anyone else?

He puts up much more of a fight than the majority of early game culprits (Sawhit, Dahlia, Redd White, etc.) And his plan involved near genius levels of foresight and planning. And in the end, well, he just wanted love.
hes waluigi except without the constant smile, different hair, normal colored nose and the suit exact same character except that one beat metal sonic in a fistfight and the other went to jail for murder
as Much as I like Gumshoe I feel he was overused, I wish they used gumshoe more sparingly like Edgeworth in the trilogy as It felt they made Gumshoe just an idiot breaking his testimonies time and time again

The funny thing is, due to Atmey’s tomfoolery with the double jeopardy law, he took the fall for both crimes. Truly a tragic clown, and a victory for Mask⭐️DeMasque.

You know, for the longest time, I was skeptical that Atmey's plan was very well thought-out. I mean, surely there were other ways he could have gone about framing Ron DeLite for the murder of Kane Bullard without needing to serve time for grand larceny, right? BUT, it was only while watching the anime that I realized he wanted to be found guilty of stealing the urn because of his ego more than anything else. Atmey wanted to be proven to be Mask☆DeMasque so that he could gain more recognition than he already had. After all, what's better than being regarded as the world-famous phantom thief's most successful adversary? Actually being the thief all along and fooling the entire public into falling for his double act. Sure Bullard threatened to expose him as the man behind the plans for the De☆Masque heists anyway, but to a man as egotistical as Atmey, who had managed to build up Mask☆DeMasque as one of the most infamous and cunning of thieves, being outed by a nobody such as Bullard would have been unfathomable. So, he killed the man rather than pay the bribe. And because of that, he could out himself on a grand stage in a public trial - and what a stroke of luck! - one being held by none other than the up-and-coming "Turnabout Terror," Phoenix Wright. Luke Atmey killed a man for threatening to expose his identity as the blackmailing mastermind behind the Mask☆DeMasque heists, and then confessed to being Mask☆DeMasque himself (not just his planner) on his own terms because he was so enamored with the persona he had created and all the attention it was getting that he could not have had it end any other way. Those are my thoughts, anyways.
That's pretty interesting, he definitely seems like a really smart guy who got a rough start, then let his ego get the better of him when he got an opportunity.
Pride and greed corrupting one into becoming a false hero, as well as a false villain. The best I can say about him is that he was very, very clever to come up with this plan.
