One cool thing I noticed about this weapon is it has a unique disintegration animation that recreates the disintegration animation from Elite Force. It's a subtle change from the normal disintegrations, but its definitely a cool detail. And yeah, I'm definitely one of the people who prefers shooter mode. I don't know about anyone else, but trying to do combat in RPG controls aggravates my Carpal Tunnel, so Shooter Mode is just straight up more comfortable.

Oh, one thing I should've mentioned in the video: Bridge Officers can use the Photon Burst, and you can keep reclaiming so you'll be able to outfit your entire away team with one. Have fun with that 😁

@@nunya3163 And since, especially late game, Bridge Officers rely as much if not more on their abilities as their weapons, it's seems like almost like a capper to hit them with a wave of micro-torpedos.

I've found it good as the opening shot since enemies are often grouped together before the shooting starts so they get knocked down for a second while the rest of the away team lays into them.

Yes, in fact, when coming up on a group like that, the secondary fire feature, allows you to rapid fire a 2nd shot off, immediately after firing the primary mode. So you can hit them with two torps at once.

Ideally used with a control like Anchor of Grethor which groups enemies close together for maximum AOE oomph.

people keep forgetting that there are Torp kits you can get for your tactical chars that fires torps from your wrist..

@@SkrapMetal84 Game is old as the Dinos a lot of things need to be buffed, fixed, changed, or redone completely. In all honesty it's probably not going to happen especially since the game isn't all that popular.

@@SkrapMetal84 Well if you are running a Mudd version of a tac kit module spam build... you have a variety of tec buffs that drastically increase kit module damage.

I play in shooter mode and even then the secondary attack isn't very good, it's usually better to aim at the ground where the enemies are and leave the rest to the aoe effect. It would certainly help if the secondary attack got a bonus on reloading, the ammo mechanics don't necessarily have to be a boost on damage to give the secondary attack a bonus.

Yeah, you need a build where you're not just spamming weapon fire. which might mean using kits a LOT... for direct damage.

Primary + Secondary on the Photon Burst frequently kills at least 1 weaker enemy with the Secondary. This would proc the 2 piece bonus with the Adaptation set, so you then switch to the I-Mod and get bonus energy damage for a minute. Same game synergies! Otherwise, good secondary if you are not using that slot for a set-bonus piece. Also... explosions that hit their target more often than grenades are cool.

Welcome back and the Photon burst is an awesome weapon especially for story mode or a new toon you create just make sure you have a god backup second weapon as well.

I'm using it on my low level alt character at the moment and it's lovely for that it either 1 or 2 shots most groups in missions even totally unupgraded

I tested this at Vastam Peaks. The homing round would always go for the fly swarms. So it will go for anything that is remotely attackable in ANY way. Granted, a none standard location. it will be interesting to see the reports of the homing shot hitting random things that a PC cant normally target.

Oh I didn’t even know secondary fire is homing, mostly used it as a way to quick fire 2 shots as it doesn’t set the main fire on cooldown

Only complaint i have with the photon burst is its primary fire having charges to it. I could handle it having lower dmg for primary, but do insane damage with the secondary, but the secondary has charges to it. Like how the maelstrom works

I think the charges makes sense. But feel that the secondary should be a full mag dump, like you describe.

I got it. It's pretty fun but not what I was hoping. The ammo mechanics made me think you could just mag dump to unload a lot of damage super fast but it's a fairly slow rate of fire. The recharge also is decently long. The homing fire secondary you would think would go after your primary target but despite you saying closest it seemed random to me. As you said definitely a secondary for some boomTM fun then you sling it and get down to business. Just my two cents!

There is a way to get off two rounds with your opening salvo. Fire the primary mechanic, and then the secondary, and you will get two torps one on top of the other.

I'm not a fan of it's fire rate of primary but I think with a particular armor from the lobi and it temp specialty and firearm specialist trait you could make it a viable weapon though it doesn't seem to do a lot of damage at mk XII. Haven't tried MK XV Fire arm specialist + absolute candor + ambush fighter + Either: emerald chain security gear armor(lobi) 3 sec secondary OR Terran task force combat armor +30 armor pen OR ROM imperial navy combat armor +50% secondary dmg Optional: hammer and anvil kit mod (50% bonus flanking DMG + trajectory bending kit mod crit DMG, auto flank + Intel sonic suppression field IV kit mod + 80% arm pen on flanking

STO Key Binds. Same way I set up a spam bar for space. Just bind it to a different button.

Came to comment about a misconception you have about the console version of STO: we don't and never have had access to the 1st-person shooting mode, that is pc exclusive.

There is no 1st person shooter mode on either platform. You know how console always has that reticle in the center of the screen? That's shooter mode for PC.
