I really enjoy watching videos with phrasal verbs examples and explanations, especially I feel like listening to the Canadian English accent, it is so clear and comprehensible...by the way what about "picking up" girls ..?
@mapleleafesl6162
@mapleleafesl6162 6 лет назад
Thanks for the comment, Oliver D. Yes to 'pick up' a girl would mean to meet a girl somewhere with the intention of dating her. Good one.

Thanks Andrew! What does it mean: "He always tries to pick up girls in bars" And this:"When is the weather going to pick up?"Is there some other meaning?
@mapleleafesl6162
@mapleleafesl6162 6 лет назад
Hi Olegman Po. Great questions. To 'pick up a girl in a bar' is a slang way to say to meet a girl in a bar with the intention of going somewhere else together with her. In your second sentence, if we're all waiting for the weather to 'pick up', then we're waiting for it to improve as we had anticipated. Think about a summer that is not warm or sunny but full of grey clouds. Everyone is waiting for the weather to finally pick up.

@mapleleafesl6162

To the best of my knowledge, 'duck on' is not a phrasal verb. Duck out is one though, and it means to go out or leave.

Both could be acceptable. Because French and English are both official languages here in Canada, both often get used. In the US, however, check would likely be the more common spelling.

Something happened to me , cause i didn’t know the diferents meaning of the verb pick . I thoght that it was only choose or take. A man in a hospital ( in a wheel chair) , told me : can you pick me up to my vam.?. I didn’t understand because i understood that he wanted to choose a vam. It was very ashamed after to know that he wanted help to go up to his car…, too late for me… still i’m so sorry because i didn’t help him. I’m a donkey
