2 cups vinegar
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp. pickling spice
2 onions sliced

Today I’m making cooked gizzard and heart with fresh mushrooms I was watching videos for fun and came across your video now I will make this as I have a couple packages in the freezer of hearts and gizzards I’m looking forward to tasting these, thank you for the video

Trying this w/ chicken livers. The fridge went kaflooey, so can't keep meat chilly till our new one arrives. Luckily it's Appalachian winter here for now, we're eating cabbage, onions, beets & sardines, no need for fridging.

love the videos!!! I made some of your delicious tartar sauce yesterday and ooooohhhhhman! delicious! here in the Pacific Northwest we love eating all sorts of fish (salmon,halibut,shrimp) and I'm planning on trying some of your awesome recipes out! keep up the good work!

Loved the hot dogs. Pickled gizzards & shrimp was more work then they were worth. Rubbery.

How long did you cook your gizzards before pickling? Steve

3 hrs. They were wonderful after boiling. Tightened up while in the brine.

They are chewy little dudes... but I salt and pepper them when I eat them as well. I know you cut the grissle out but sorry about the chewyness .... I still love em ... Steve

It might just be how pickled gizzards & shrimp should be. I just hate to make soft food chewy. I do appreciate the fact you read your comments.

Thanks for your pickled sausage recipe! I love big Mama picked sausages but I don't always have the cash to get 3 or 4 of em at a time. have always thought that they looked like hotdogs and the ingredients for them are about the same thing as picked sausages. Anyway thanks for the recipe, now I can enjoy these delicious treats everyday!

Can I use the chicken broth instead of water to pickle gizzards? Or can I substitute broth for water in pickle chicken gizzard and heart recipe?

Finely chop gizzard and heart, and pull meat from neck; add to stock along with reserved liver. Refrigerate until ready to use.

@@CookingwithShotgunRed No I meant in the pickled hearts and gizzard do I have to use water or can I use the some of the broth INSTEAD... I use the broth for so many other things. I just though that it would be more to the flavor in the pickling receipt. Thank you for your repley!

It is only available in Tennessee in stores ... BUT! ....Because of folks like you asking .. They are finishing up our Shotgun Red "Touch of Sweet" Wine website at the winery and very soon you will be able to buy it Nation Wide on line! I'm Sorry... I just glanced at the post I thought you were in Kentucky. Here is how it works. You go to your local liquor store an ask them to order it and they can get it from Lipman Brothers. Lipman Brother is the biggest distributor in Tennessee ... since 1939. Tell them we will do a big email blast and add them to our shotgunredwine.com page as a store you can get it at. I need your help.... if you and 3 of your friends say order Shotgun Red Wine ... They will! Let me know! Steve
