lemme me know what ya think of the twitch chat!!!!!! note that I ended up moving all the HUD elements from the bottom right to the bottom left behind my camera, which means twitch chat now has its own clean spot on the bottom right.
twitch chat is a really good addition. Watching someone very clearly streaming something and not seeing the chat's reaction to more interesting moments always feels lacking to me so yeah that's a thumbs up from me
It's really weird how Pint is super spot on in some predictions, but at other times is completely incapable of the simplest deductive reasoning for some plot/lore information even when it's blatantly exposited at him.
I like the VoD chat, please keep it if you can. I also remember being confused about the cosmology and rejoining mechanics of FF14 before I rewatched story beats a billion times through streams. It is pretty dense and arbitrary and takes a backseat to the actual characters. Don’t worry too much about keeping 100% track of it. Whenever it becomes important again, a character will painstakingly repeat and remind you about every details because JRPGs love repeating exposition just to make sure.
Emet-Selch explained the rejoinings in his powerpoint. They had to bring the shard to the edge of collapse but no farther, then cause problems on the source to aspect it toward the element on the shard. Then, like attracts like and the worlds collide and rejoin. In the Eden story, Mitron and Loghrif were pushing the world toward light. Then Ardbert hit them with an etheric lance that killed Lohgrif and mutated Mitron. That caused things to go wrong and created the flood. If Minfilia hadn't stopped the flood when she did, the 1st would have been a light version of the 13th. The plan was to heavily aspect the 1st to light, then the black rose being light aspected (That's why it stopped ether in the victim's body) would have prepped the source with light and caused the rejoining. Also, Emet-Selch, Elidibus, Lahabrea, Fandaniel etc. are the "Ascians" it's a specific term for their group and is not a term for the other ancients or any of their people/creations. So the Lopporits are not Ascians.
@@antarath517 no, a calamity is cause by the energy of a rejoining shard entering the source and supercharging a disaster until it reaches massive proportions. If the First had been saved in the og timeline, the Black Rose would not have turned into a calamity, it would just be a chemical weapon.
@@FF-tp7qs I was saying "what if Urianger didn't save the first from the flood" as in his doing so brought about the calamity in the og timeline cuz otherwise it would have ended up like the Thirteenth and never been rejoined
@@antarath517 that sounds like the opposite of what you said, besides, the Ascians would have found an alternative way to trigger the rejoining, its unlikely that it would be lost like the 13th, since that was the result of Ascians inexperience, and now they know better. Elidibus lied to Ardbert when he told him to go to the Source and kill the WoL to prevent the flood of light destroying the First. The rejoining was going to happen either way, just that Elidibus wanted to use Ardbert to assassinate the WoL
@@antarath517 nah. the ascians knew what was going to cause the 8th calamity. it was going to be Thordan Reborn calling on all the Light he possibly could in his inevitable war against the rest of the world. one of the great touches of ff14's story is that the first time something happens that is not in the Ascian master plan, it is Thordan eating Lahabrea. everything up to that point? yeah, he would have preferred to have killed us at Praetorium, but the second Gaius cast Ultima and made Hydaelyn burn all her cooldowns the mission was accomplished, our deaths would have just been a nice extra. the plan was for Lahabrea to help Thordan kill us, and then watch and wait for him to one day swing his dumbass sword of light and discover he was bringing all the power of the First into the Source. simple, easy, and wait why is he swinging the sword at m-
I always appreciate it when the streamer puts in the twitch chat so we can see what both the streamer and the live watchers are commenting with regards to the things that are happening on screen. It's a shame Pint was already spoiled on the Loporrits, then again it's hard not to be spoiled by them I really hope they add the plush version in the SE store eventually. It's definitely one of the most WTF moments in the game, especially after the first trial. Most people seem to miss the tidbit that Urianger mentioned in 9:52 when they were introduced - that the Loporrits were made to look like that in order to help calm down the would be passengers when the Final Days eventually happens and they are forced to flee the star.
When I first played through this part, I was aching to get through it. Not because I disliked it, but because after defeating Zodiark, and that "ahh...at last", I was _so_ anxious to get back.
Think some confusion about 'star' needs clearing up, The Japanese word 'Hoshi' generally gets translated into the English word 'star' but that's not fully correct, what it means is 'a heavenly body that is not the moon or the sun'. Basically, the western concept of a 'star' (aka the points of light in the night sky) AND Planets! BOTH get called the same thing in Japanese, and when the word 'hoshi' is translated into English it is commonly translated as 'star' even if referring to what we call a planet in English.
The Japanese word for Mars is fire star "kasei" Mercury is water star "suisei" Venus is Gold star "kinsei" Jupiter is wood star "mokusei" Saturn is earth star "dosei" Named after the 5 Chinese elements As for Uranus, Neptune and Pluto They're called Ten'nosei, kaiousei and Meiousei
@@FF-tp7qs I know, I'm on about the generic term, like we have a generic term 'Planet' and also individual names for each individual Planet. Because when Japanese games get translated into English, their generic word 'hoshi' is translated into star EVEN when it MEANS planet in English. It's very confusing even when you DO know this, let alone for people that don't. 😵
Just because a primal has a certain aspect doesn't mean every instance of that aspect belongs to them - not all Fire belongs to Ifrit, and not all Light belongs to Hydaelyn. The Ascians did set up the First specifically to be Light aspected separately from Her intentions, though they probably didn't intend for exactly how it all went down with Eden and the later interference by the Oracle of Light. In regard to how the 13th was different, recall that the Ascians' plan was meant to have the Source consume the reflection. The destruction of the 13th wasn't set up correctly, so rather than rejoin to the source it simply got turned into the Void.
For future reference @Pint they dont want a flood of darkness or a flood of light because they CAN'T rejoin those shards if they are fucked up like that. They just want to tip the balance heavily enough to one aspect without going too far into a flood to get the worlds to rejoin to the source
THE CHAT BEING IN THE CORNER OF THE SCREEN IS THE COOLEST THING AND HELPS TO IMMERSE US IN THE EXPERIENCE WHEN WE ARE UNABLE TO BE PRESENT FOR THE STREAM ITSELF! SHADOWBRINGERS AND ENDWALKER ARE CALLED THE BEST STORIES OF ALL FINAL FANTASY, MAYBE ALL MMO'S, BUT IN TRUTH THE CHAT BEING PRESENT IS A STORY THAT RENDERS THEM ALL PURPOSELESS AND VAPID! MY KEYBOARD NEEDS A CAPS LOCK FOR MY CAPS LOCK TO CAPITALIZE MY CAPITALIZATION TO DEMONSTRATE EVEN THE MOST MINISCULE IOTA OF HYPE I HAVE FOR THIS TURN OF EVENTS! AAAAAAAAA 1:04 - Just following orders, my dude. o7
just imagining the joyous cheers of rabbits as Dalamud fell and all hell broke loose below with the screaming of millions is such a jarring juxtaposition....
I took a break during xmas and have been playing other games, among them, FFIV and damn, Endwalker is filled with references to that game, even the OST in the Loporrit's home is the theme in IV's villages Honestly makes me wonder what they may have in store for the rest of the patches
I super rarely am able to watch your whole stream, living in the EU, so getting to see the convo you have with chat gives a an extra smile when watching the vod. Im EXTREMLY for seeing chat. (Extreme enough? :P )
I been waiting for you to enable on-screen chat for so long, I even downloaded the chat replay extention (when you did it). I really like looking at chat when I'm watching the vod since I can't really be there when you're live. I would recommend putting the chat on the top right or under the msq/quests ui.
I somehow never noticed until now but man did Venat have a girlboner for blondes and braids, her closest ally Argos is a blonde dog with braided locks, her human host was a blonde woman with braided locks, and now we have Livingway who is ALSO the only blonde bunny... For a woman with white hair she really loves blondes.
I've already finished the campaign. I've watches JoCat's stream, Pyromancer, and now watching Pint's. I've watched one of my personal friends play through the campaign too. I keep learning things more and more. --- [Spoiler Warning for those who don't want them beyond this point ] --- It's such good storytelling where you can start picking out the symbolism and foreshadowing and parallels. For me, I drew parallels between Ameliance and her relationship and words to Alphinaud and Alisai as our WoL relationship with Venat. I've also seen the parallels between our time in Garlemald, attempting to help the Garleans and try to bring them to "safety" only for them to attempt to reject our help (at first) and the refugees eventually joining the Ilsabard Contigent, and how it's similar to what the Loporrits try to do with the people of Etheryis and bringing them to the moon to escape the final days. Another parallel, or perhaps an easter egg, is in the lyrics of Footfalls itself, "Our song of hope, She dances on the wind.... On wings of Hope, You rise up through the night...Carrying our song... Cradled fast within your arms... That its chorus might ring for all" A hinting of Meteon, and of Venat telling us to "Teacher her a brighter song". And that we do, that she allows the aether to flow again in the universe, that one day life will inhabit it again. I'm sure there are so many more examples. I just find it fascinating that this story keeps drawing me back in and that I keep finding these little things that make it so exciting to explore from a literary standpoint.
I'm glad I got to EW before the moon buns got spoiled which is amazing considering I was still doing ShB when EW dropped. If you don't see it coming, it's actually a good laugh.
I swear I think pint clearly didn't understand or dont want to admit he forgot what Graha Tia was explaining The Source and 1st - 13th by the 7 calamities. 😅 AT THE SAME TIME Playing Chess with the MSQ, assuming he got Natsuko Ishikawa number on speed dial 😁 What a Chad 😂
omg I know its vod but im still screaming at my screen because hes getting the lore so wrong XD when they literally spell it out for you. they didnt want the first to be flooded with light. ardbert fucked it up for them
Chat is always good. If there's no chat on screen then it can be awkward when streamers respond to chat and we can see the other half of the conversation
I unironically only watch VODs with chat enabled. Half the experience with Streaming, for me, is the relationship between the Streamer and the chat. Thank you!
I feel bad for those who had the Loporrits spoiled. I didn't watch any of the live letter content prior to Endwalker, so didn't see them teased or anything. So it was completely out of nowhere for me when I got to this point. I realize at this pint there was no way for point to have avoided seeing them in the community, so not playing EW until now it was just impossible to not have seen them before. Feel bad it couldn't of been a wholly unspoiled experience.
As someone from East Asian heritage, even if the loporitts weren’t teased or advertised, “rabbits on the moon” was to be expected for a game developed by an East Asian company. The Jade Rabbit is a fairly well known myth in China, Korea, and Japan.
@@J-manli That's definitely a fair point and I'm not saying someone might not have expected it. But there's still a bit of a difference between anticipating it might be there and being proven right, and just already having been told this is what you will definitely see/find.
I think someone actually _has_ asked Yoshi-P about a Feo-Ul minion before. I don't remember what the response was, but I think it mighta been something along the lines of "we just hadn't considered it". But I hope people keep asking so it eventually happens.
I thought Hydelyn/Zodiark were like the light and dark of ying/yang so if you upset the balance of one then it destroys that reality. They wanted to destroy the sundered worlds to bring back Zodiark and have all the worlds rejoined.
sigh one thing i felt like was a missed opportunity, is that everything from the ascians should have been much larger compared to us. I would have love to see loporits be seven foot monstrocities to us, but still be like 3 feet to an actual ascian.
The Loporrits were creations of Hydaelyn after she had already sundered the world, made with the purpose of helping us escape Eitherys if needed. It makes sense why she made them more comparable in size to the modern-day races. Now, why our Mother did not tell her creations that humanity were _not_ ten-foot-tall demigods any longer, _that_ I'm not sure...
@@ShermTank7272 My guess is, any knowledge of our unsundered past could motivate certain greedy/ power hungry individuals or collectives on the source to push for rejoinings.
Not gonna lie, was gonna make this pretty cringe youtube beast tribe joke. So… yeah, chat is great for youtube, and as a stream lurker it helps me chill in fullscreen mode (if I’m into the stream that much)
Can't say I like the twitch chat. We already have your head taking up a chunk of the screen, then the UI from the game. Include the stream chat and I might as well just put this in tab to listen cause I can't see shit
Why watch a streamer if you don’t like the face cam and chat? It’s kind of the entire freaking point. If you were playing this alone, the game’s chat log would be where his face is.
"I respond to the most extreme feedback" alright here goes I DEMAND YOU DO SOMETHING WITH STREAM CHAT. IN MUST BE DONE SOMETHING ABOUT THIS STREAM CHAT. THIS IS THE FEEDBACK YOU SHUOLD LISTEN TO, AS I AM VERY OPINIOANATED ON SOMETHING HAPPENING TO CHAT. If it wasnt obvious, I dont really care much if chat stays or goes. I think somewhere in the middle with having a way to turn chat on/off quickly so that if you start talking more to chat you can make it visable, but having a way to turn it off for cutscenes or if you want to more focus on the game/talk about what is happening you can quickly turn it off. just my 2 cents
I had a theory that Hydaelyn's name meant "beautiful land" in the ancient tongue and that when people who awoke to the Echo and suddenly heard a divine voice emanating from what they believed to be the planet and the voice either let them know it was Hydaelyn or something buried deep within their souls told them this was Hydaelyn, it only seemed natural, or rather "felt" natural, as if they knew deep down it was an appropriate name for the world and they then mistook "Hydaelyn" for the name of the planet?
"What do you mean 'how much did I spoil myself?' The rabbits are like the most surface level thing!" Meanwhile I played through all of Endwalker over a year late myself and had absolutely no idea what was coming... Hey Pint. Just stop clicking on Final Fantasy shit. You spoiled yourself bro, you weren't supposed to know that was coming lmao
Personally kinda despise twitch chat when its like asmons chat that goes by too fast with obnoxius spammy shit, but your chat seems fine so far.. keep it around!
generally speaking, if a streamer interacts with his chat, having it on screen is a massive plus, if he doesn't interact with it, its no loss having it turned off. personally i like reading the reactions of those who were there when it happened, so if you keep it, that would be very pogger 100 emoji fire emoji ok_hand emoji
"I still pay attention to the story" "I want to soak it in" Meanwhile talks and sings through important cutscenes and misses the most basic concepts of cosmology, history, and ancient society. 'Tis as entertaining as it is frustrating.
One of the most infuriating things about watching someone else play a story-driven game, is watching them stop halfway through dialogue, going "OMG WHAT COULD THIS POSSIBLY MEAN, HERE'S MY THEORY" and then it's literally explained in the next sentence. Finish the dialogue, *then* pontificate. Don't be Pyro.
pontificating is the fun part i take all opportunities to pontificate, its my way of soaking it in a little more. I do it when I'm playing solo, albiet in my head
