🎥 Pixar's Reboot Crisis: Are They Losing Their Magic? 🎥
In this video, we dive deep into the shocking news that Pixar is considering rebooting beloved classics, The Incredibles and Finding Nemo. Is this a sign that Pixar has lost its creative spark? 🌟
📰 Based on a recent Bloomberg article featuring insights from Pixar's head, Peter Docter, we discuss the studio's struggles following the financial disasters of Lightyear and Elemental. With Pixar's worst-ever opening weekend and intense internal scrutiny, is the studio's solution to reboot their hits a desperate move or a strategic pivot?
🔍 We'll analyze the shift away from deeply personal, autobiographical stories like Luca and Turning Red towards mass-appeal concepts. Is Pixar abandoning the originality that made it famous in favor of safe, familiar ground? 🤔
💬 Join the conversation as we explore the potential impacts of these reboots on Pixar's legacy and future. Can the studio recapture its former glory, or are we witnessing the end of an era? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

The original content they are making isn’t good though. That is the problem. Rebooting or just making sequels is not the answer. But they used to tell stories that were about parts of human existence, not about one person’s very specific existence. And they told them using non human characters to bring the universality point home.

Really could’ve been. I don’t know where Bird went so wrong. He was the best of them and Incredibles 2 was such garbage. This news is wildly distressing to me. I have a lotta love, admiration, and respect for Pixar as a studio. They’ve made several of my favorite movies, I would say they’re even my favorite movie studio (second to Ghibli), and for them to stoop down to maybe possibly make reboots of films that already told their story, worked and STILL DO in todays landscape of films just sounds absolutely shameful. Pixar’s last couple of films haven’t even been bad imo, not their strongest stuff but I would rather get those original films as opposed to pointless and unnecessary reboots smh. If they wanna come back to these franchises, just make sequels, tho Nemo doesn’t really lend itself to more…

Recently, there were some statements made about how Pixar is going to be focusing on making quality films that go to theaters instead of making straight to streaming projects. Well, it looks like those quality films are going to be another Toy Story film, another Incredibles film, and another Finding Nemo film. This sounds depressing. The kids of today aren’t getting fantastic original stories like kids did 15+ years ago with Up, Ratatouille, and WALL-E. Sure, they have Elemental and Luca, but I haven’t heard too many animation fans say those are great movies. Even going outside of Pixar, Moana 2 is coming in November and Zootopia 2 & Frozen III are on the way. And several more Disney live action remakes are in development. Even though it’s been eighteen months since Bob Igor came back to Disney, it’s not looking like Disney’s recapturing the magic anytime soon.
@NinthShinigami
@NinthShinigami 3 месяца назад
That’s the Pixar I grew up with. And agreed man, Bob Iger I don’t think ever really was that great of a CEO, the man was just severely lucky. The MCU got as big as it did because of Feige, not because of him. Star Wars may have been a huge success, but it was gone for decades. Look at it now. And the parks? More IP than ever before and taking away a lot from what made them original and artistic crafts. I think buying Pixar may have been the only good thing he did, maybe the 20th Century decision too with Alien and The Apes now, but even Blue Sky was shut down there too with several animators laid off too…
@MichaelTomsyck
@MichaelTomsyck 3 месяца назад
@@NinthShinigami The way I think about Igor is that he’s a great businessman, not a visionary. He’s not looking to be a creative, he’s looking for others to cast the great ideas for him. He bought Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, and 20th Century Fox. This comes with positives and negatives. On the positive, he was able to give studios plenty of money to expand the quality in what they produced. I mean, John Lasseter was so great at running Pixar within Disney that he was able to apply his magic over to Disney Animation for about ten years. But on the negative side, money doesn’t fix low quality. The last chunk of MCU films have cost $250,000,000 and it’s not like those budgets made Quantumaina or Love and Thunder any better. Eventually, Igor must’ve thought throwing money at pre existing brands would equal critical and financial success. Nope, critics and audiences want quality output, not the sheer amount of output. The next CEO of Disney should really be a visionary who’s more concerned with what gets created instead of how much the stock price is worth.
@Robalexe
@Robalexe 3 месяца назад
@NinthShinigami Buying Marvel Studios was the best decision. You can't say that buying Pixar as they were getting to the top of the world and letting John Lasseter continue his thing was a good decision while buying Marvel Studios as they were getting to the top of the world and letting Kevin Feige continue his thing wasn't... In fact the MCU was on top of the world for longer under Disney than Pixar was imo. Iger is actually an insanely good CEO, I think you're underestimating how much he's done and achieved. The last couple of years are not really indicative, cuz it takes a while to redirect such a large ship like Walt Disney Studios.
@NinthShinigami

@@Robalexe he’s not a terrible CEO but I think he’s given way too much credit for stuff that just happened to be in his favor. Like with the MCU. That’s the point I’m trying to make.

I am not mad about this yea it's concerning and scary but i don't comsider it the worst thing ever. Honestly i just hate how people complain about reboots and remakes. These types of movies are not immediately bad you just have to wait and see and honestly those reasons doctor said basically just sum up my feelings about modern Pixar movies is that i just cant relate to these stories because i just didn't experience those things. Do i want more original ideas? Yes but i just don't want to everything to be something completely different, sometimes i just love seeing characters that i love have another adventure. I understand what you're saying Sean i just don't completely agree. Like the reason why i consider the original cars to be my favorite Pixar movie is because not was it a movie i watched a lot but its because it had a simple message that i wish more Pixar movies had: slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. I don't connect with other Pixar movies as much as i connect to cars, a movie that says that the best things in life are the simple things. Again i understand your frustration and i agree that it's sad that Pixar has lost there Way but i just want movies that i can relate to and i can love.

If people heard Lightyear was good, then people would have gone to see it. Same with GOTG 3, light box office open because people were sceptical. One of the best MCU films, then it picks up through word of mouth. Dune part 2, massive success due to the hype. Nowadays, people need to be convinced to spend almost £10 to see a movie because that's a lot of money to a lot of people. "You need to see this" is how u sell tickets, so make your films better and not extremely woke. There is a crowd for woke content, but clearly not big enough to make billions off of

There's a strange miscalidbration. Like Incredibles is about a mid-life crisis. It's not immediately relatable to kids, but they added other elements which are. But I would also argue Elemental takes an experience which isn't immediately relatable, but packages it in a highly connective way. I found Turning Red to do specificity on top of specificity. So it just felt distant.

Incredibles has way more potential for alot more films its a world akin to marvel where you can tell all kinds of stories wheres finding nemo there's not much more one can do with that except focusing on different characters getting lost at sea which would get tiresome fast

I feel like Disney keeps putting out news just to see how people will react. Even the parks division did it by saying that they could build past Big Thunder if they wanted to, but not officially announcing anything. This feels like that. To see what the reaction to the idea would be, which I don’t know why they keep shooting for the most brain dead ideas that no one would like.

The first 15 years of Pixar is so magical to me. I'm glad to be a kid when those movies from greatest era of Pixar came out. Toy Story 1,2,3, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up. Love all of them as a kid, still love them now

I think instead of rebooting the Incredibles, let Brad Bird in on the creative process or even direct a good quality sequel. I really enjoyed the first two films, and I believe there are still more stories to tell in that world that is already established, instead of rebooting the whole thing. The only movies I think could be good for sequels would be Inside out (which is already being done), cars, and the Incredibles. Now in terms of rebooting Finding Nemo, the original was already beautifully and masterfully made why try and capitalize on a reboot when anyone would think that it would be a bad idea. Not every Pixar movie in the last few years have been good, but there's still some quality in there (Onward and Elemental). I think they need to surround themselves with quality creative teams and start working on trying to make movies that go back in terms of quality that they had in the early 2000s, and not rely on sequels and reboots to try and turn a profit.

Wish and Turning Red were both great movies but after a modest box office and online hate Disney and Pixar now think milking Moana Frozen and Toy Story are the only solution... and I blame everyone for that... 😢

But even inside out 2 is turning to a sequel. Their entire hope is in returning to past things instead of finding out how to make broad appeal new stories

I disagree with the notion that they should focus more on broad appeal. Sure there are examples like Turning Red that might not have connected with everyone because of its tone and subject matter, but a majority of Pixar’s best movies have been very personally driven. Look at how unique the themes of the Toy Story movies are, and even some recent ones like Soul and Elemental are great because it feels like real humans turning their experiences into stories and not a board room trying to get the most audience.

I agree that Finding Nemo is an odd choice for sure I almost kinda understand the thought process behind The Incredibles, however, especially if they are considering finding a way to redo the story of the first 2 movies, but minimize the number of Supers that died thanks to villains like Syndrome. Even with that said though, don't know why they can't just focus on an Incredibles 3, explore villains like The Underminer and Bomb Voyage, maybe some prequel or spinoff ideas for either Elastigirl or Frozone

No matter how bad things got for a Pixar, I never would have thought they would resort to rebooting their best films as an attempt to get back on top and get back to their original level. It's really sad that they are actually considering doing something that is just so beneath them and not what Pixar is. It's a shame they have gotten to this point. Way back when they were the king of animation for over a decade

makes sense when the money men are completely in change and the creatives of Pixar are just the grunts following orders. Pixar is now churning out sequels desperately trying to find its original streak of hits which I doubt they can do with the bean counters in charge
