Showbiz pizza animatronics were actually creative engineering animatronics, and creative engineering allowed showbiz to use them. (Not being mean, just informing)

I believe animatronics scare you because they move around like a human, but aren't alive so there's a disconnect there. You know a fursuit or mascot costume has a person inside, so they have an excuse for "acting alive."

Another understandable thing is that animatronics are basically 'robots'. So some folks might be a little scared of such things simply because of that fact. When i was twelve, i used to get really freaked out over Fatz at Showbiz Pizza Place. I was convinced that big ape on stage was real...and it was spooky.

Since animatronics can be pretty expensive, I’m deciding to make a replica of Crusty the Cat... might do the rest some time :)

They might be creepy when they're deactivated (or maybe when they're active in your case) but they aren't going to hurt you. I personally think animatronics are amazingly cool.

Thanks...glad to hear you have been enjoying. I do not personally own this particular show...all of this belong to a friend. I helped him restore the cosmetic appearance of the characters, and also lend my eye to the project to ensure the movements and appearance were historically correct for the 1981 PTT time period.

All true. Pizza Time Theatre era mask snouts were also made from different quality fabrics then 'Merger era' and later periods. The teeth were also made from different materials and were different sizes through then years.

@@CircusShowplace Yeah. the teeth looked thinner, so im guessing it's cardboard, especially since they often lost their teeth at locations and had to get them replaced. Another thing is the head was made smaller over time, and the mouths opened farther on PTT mechs.

Yes, you are correct. This video series was filmed before the Rock-aFire movie was shot...so i can say i knew him before he became a 'celebrity'..! ;)

Yes, very different. The re-skinned figures you speak of were what CEC did to the Shows that used to be at former Showbiz locations. By the mid 1990s all former Showbiz locations had been phased out and turned into CEC locations. The old Rock-aFire figures at those location were re-skinned to look like CEC characters, much to many a fans' disgust. The figures shown in this video are pre-Showbiz figures in some respects, and designed by the folks at Pizza Time Theatre in the late 1970s. These are some of the first mass-produced versions of the original PTT Cyberamic figures. The Chuck E. shown in this video is the oldest model, dating from 1980/1981 based on it's unique frame setup. The others are all 1981/1982 models. Cyberamics were a completely different animation system then what was used at Showbiz Pizza Place, which was Creative Engineering's amazing 'Electronimation' system. Both used compressed air to power the character movements, but both used very different computer systems to control those movements.
