I've got an empty 17' x 10' room that will transform into the ultimate podcasting, video and live streaming setup for all kinds of needs in my business. In this video, I'll show you the exact layout, desks and camera configuration, and how we plan to deal with the audio quality, lightning, and more!

Any thoughts about the new space? It's not huge, but we're going to make the best of it. I'm going for top audio quality, cinematic video quality, and something that shows that you don't need a giant space to make awesome content. Let's do this!

I LOVE it. I wish this had come out a couple of months ago. Just did a full redesign of my office - and camera angle and lighting was a huge thing - but I couldn't seem to find videos or good guidance on it.

Yes, It would be interesting to know how the lighting is set up now. How do you position your lights during recording and also which lights do you use during post-production and other things you just do on your desk?
@Kindlepreneur
@Kindlepreneur 4 года назад
@@heystenner Not sure about Pat's but I did make a video on how i finally settled on mine...specifically I wanted good quality, but also have it that I didn't have to continuously set up my lights and camera each time I wanted to film: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h4FZskstLN0.html

Love this and you taking us along on your build. I worked in a huge shop and it was all the corr. steel you see now on new pole barns, factories. The air compressor was about 20'x10'x10'. Tonage huge, very loud. They had office on other side of that metal wall. Placed panel on side of wall, never went to top of 20'wall. Just the 20'ft long and 10' high 1 1/2 inches deep sound board and you couldn't hear that in other room at all. Great stuff again.

Pat, you got yourself an Auditorium ...try an 8-1/2’ x 8-1/2’ space that also contains your Music room, 88 key Electric Piano, Electronic Drums, 13 Guitars, 5 Amps, cement block construction...now this is a challenge....four camera setup, Video Switcher, 2 mixers, desk top and laptop computers, two hdmi monitors....cable management should be fun...if I get it operational...I shot you a link. Great work thank you....

Awesome! I'm really interested to see what you use for lighting, and that sliding camera track has me really intrigued. Also going to be interested in seeing how I can take this and apply it on a smaller scale since I'm just operating out of a small home office. Excited for you, Pat!

Pat, awesome stuff. Timing of your series is so great for me. I’m moving into an 11 x 15 space and have been scratching my head about how to set it up for similar purposes. Caleb rocks, too. Bought his video course and loved it. You are so blessed to have him on Team Flynn. I bet you guys really enjoy working together. Thanks for sharing and for lighting the way in so many ways.

Great work Pat. After seeing your break in video a few months back and to see you so emotional, this just proves that good can come from bad! I shall be following with great interest as my son has a RU-vid channel and films from his indoor office. We have discussed different sound absorbing ideas, so it will be great to see what you and Caleb use. One suggestion...for the glass wall/entrance, could you use heavy drapes from floor to ceiling on a pulley track for ease of opening? That would (as others have said) stop prying eyes and also act as sound proofing.

Really awesome and thank you for sharing the details of planning and building up your setups. I love your podcasts and inspired to start my own. You probably had already covered a lot of equipment for beginners starting with zero. I'm also at a co-working space but can't afford my own room yet. Still out in the open shared space. However, I've been convincing the owner to let me build up a temporary podcasting/interview/photoshoot station in a tiny space that is literary a "hole" in the wall or deep indented space measuring 5ft x 7.5ft. Since I can't leave expansive equipment in the open space I'll have to setup every time but I'm undeterred. -> Can you share details of camera and mic distances and why please? -> How do you avoid all the cables everywhere? -> Do you work with hardwired network or wifi is sufficient to keep up with video live stream? Looking forward to the rest of the video series! Thank you very much to you and your team for doing such a great job!

Great informative videos! For the 3 camera podcast Interview set up, what kind of cameras/lens are you using and how far away from you from the cameras? I’m trying to squeeze in a similar set up but my room is only 10x10! Thanks!🙌👍

Will be watching with interest in this series. I have a room on the other side of my carport where I record podcast discussions. I carpeted it and added a few sound panels, but I haven't done much else. My main issue is neighbors' lawn mowers and barking dogs, so the sound treatment will be especially interesting to me!

Love this! I’m very interested in seeing how you manage the sound. That being said, the sound was great in this video and you haven’t even put the panels up yet. I’m also interested in seeing how you light the space - I assume it’ll be primarily artificial lighting due to the walls.

@patflynn

Carrie Reagh no painting the space since it’s already a light two tone, but yes different colors will affect the lighting, primarily how it bounces off the wall and hits your face and other objects.

Such a small space will get pretty warm with 2 or 3 people plus equipment in there - why not use office #2 for all the editing and/or solo recording? Looking forward to see how you tackle the glass wall side of things when it comes to soundproofing.
@joellacastillo2911

Love it, Pat! Any chance you can get a sit/stand desk. Caleb is X height,. His knees are almost touching the bottom of the table. Another person who comes to do editing , for example might be a different height. Having a height adjustable workstation can accommodate for different people’s needs. Also, great with an adjustable monitor arm. Why not make it all Ergonomic and great!🦋

Good show. If that window is facing the outside, I suggest you put cubicle dividers between it and your equipment at least six feet in height so that prying eyes cannot see what you have. Make sure they are carpeted variety that they double as sound panels.

A video was out there talking about how a famous podcast only used one camera and within Adobe Premier, they could do jump zoom in and zoom out, with in the editing software, just to kind of create the visual variety. Can you help with that? Because I have one good camera and just about ready to work with three cameras yet financially. Great video thank you!

Pat, I REALLY need to know the tools you used to draw and record your drawings as you did to demonstrate your design plan in this video. I'm a teacher and I'd like like to create online courses, but I've been struggling to figure out how to create a virtual blackboard where I could record my teaching in real time. I know it's probably using an iPad and Apple pencil, but what else? I know it's probably easy, but of course anything is once you know how. Help?
@patflynn
@patflynn 4 года назад
Hey Eric! Exactly that, an iPad with an Apple Pencil, and just using the iOS built in screen recording software. I’m also capturing my voice with a separate mic. The other option would be to find a Wacom tablet that you could hook up to your computer, and then screen record yourself drawing in photoshop or some other drawing program.
