PLANTING A LEMON TREE In The Arizona Desert / JoyUsgarden 

*Welcome, Plant Lovers! You'll see us planting a 5-gallon lemon tree, a delicious Meyer Lemon, in the Arizona desert. This video was filmed in the bright Tucson sun at the very beginning of June & the sound is a little off.
I do an intro for about 3 minutes, explaining more details about the planting. Just skip ahead if you don't want any of the details & only want to see the planting process.
Here are the steps:
*Choose the location where the citrus tree will go.
*Pick a Meyer Lemon Tree that is healthy & has a good form. This one, even though small, has 5 lemons on it.
*Dig the hole twice as wide as the rootball. Water.
*Plant the lemon, adding in native soil, loam mix from a local landscape supply company, & compost. Water.
*Add a 3" layer of local compost on the top. Water!
June isn't a good time to fertilize a lemon tree in Tucson. I'll do the 1st application of citrus food in mid-September.

Upon posting this, it's been 2 1/2 months since this lemon got planted. It's doing just fine!
