This video shows a good method for potting amaryllis seedlings that have sprouted on water. We sell amaryllis bulbs, plants and seeds. For more information visit our website at www.amaryllisman.com
I used the water method, and now have 30 that sprouted. In about a weeks time I will pot them. They are growing by the day! My 3 year old daughter helped me with the harvesting of the pods and shaking out the seeds and floating them. She is always checking on her Amaryllis "babies". I really appreciate your videos. My husband and I and our 3 year old daughter plan on coming to visit the nursery soon. we are only 2 hours away. I want to add more variety to my garden. God bless you.
Thank you, you're a kind soul and you gave me a great education on amaryllis period.Great video, anyone trying to grow these beautiful plants should follow you!!!
This year I finally decided to sow Amaryllis. This Youtune channel however is very motivating, I hope my Amaryllis grows good in a cold country like the Netherlands (indoor growing) How long untill they produce flowers? :-)
Sorry to hear of your failure. I don't have enough information from you to be a help. Of course viable seed is a must. Sometimes even though your plant produces seed the seed is sterile. Possibly this was your problem. If you care to try again you can order seed from us at our ebay store.
This year i had seeds from my picotee . Im floating seeds now ! Last years babies are all beautiful from the all red ones and from the pink ones ! Some even have acapes that are 9 inches tall! Anxious about the picotee.. i know ..i know.. be patient.. lol
I pollinated my Amaryllis (I don't know what kind), and it produced a seed pod. It gave me a whole lot of seeds, more than 30. I planted some of them in soil, and some of them I tried to sprout in water. But none of them took. Not one of them! I must have done something wrong, but I don't know what.
When the flower dies... It leaves something that looks like a clove of garlic. Wait until it dries and if you squeeze it just a little bit it was split open and they're in there :-) they look like little Pieces of black mimeograph paper very thin..
Hello, Amaryllis Man. I had purchased & planted amaryllis bulbs Jan 4, 2022 then after 3-4 months of flowering, I used your method of a plastic baggy with a wet paper towel to sprout the seed pods. I had several successfully sprout and now have a dozen individually potted scapes as you have done here, 2-3 scapes each a few inches high. They are outside, I realize I need to protect them better from sun and rain. I am in eastern Canada and will need to bring every container plant inside or they will die :) I wonder if I should just let them be in a cool, dark place (basement) all winter then water and let them grow again next year? I cannot find any informational videos for the steps between healthy scapes and getting to the point a bulb forms. I have watched most of your videos and realize it will take a few years. Please let me know if you are still in the business, even though your Florida weather is far different, I still enjoy these flowers. First time growing them was this year. Thank you!
Place your plants in a warm sunny indoor environment. Continue to water and fertilize them through the winter. They do not need a dormancy period. And yes, we are still in business. Thank-you, The Johnston's
@@AmaryllisMan That's wonderful. Thank you very much for your reply! If I can get bulbs to rebloom and new scapes to survive winter, I will consider it a success. :)
