This is a great example where a designer can conceptualize around a mannequin or existing suspension/engine. Engineering isn't all about overconstraining and rigidity. It can use compromises and rules of thumb to create products people actually want.

@TAH1712 10 месяцев назад
'to create products that people actually want' - that statement doesn't actually require cad / computers to be used at all, just the right idea...made efficiently with the best appropriate tool available - don't discount pencil and paper or HPC using FEM convergent freeform modelling. But, I do agree more with focussing quickly on the end goal rather than head scratching over which particular parameter to use.

@@TAH1712 Yeh, not discounting pencil and paper or even slide rules. You "can" and "it isn't all about" were meant as open clauses.

@@Kuechmeister No doubt. I’ve been very impressed with how flexible and forgiving Plasticity is too! By problems I guess I mean your overall approach to solving the shape you’re trying to create, and what steps you’re taking to reach that final form. I’ll keep an eye out for the upcoming videos. This is great stuff.

I was going to ask how do you 'join' the components together like in Fusion 360 assemblies, but I'm assuming this is more like Blender where you move the pieces in place manually. Still, I recently bought Plasticity 1.3 and i think it will be a nice bridge between Fusion and Blender since I use both. Amazing work !!

There's a handy set of tools after hitting the G key for aligning bodies statically with each other. Not a constraint system, but accurate and intuitive to use. You can export your bodies out to CAD and constrain/modify them there.

@@modelenginerding6996 depend on the level of CAD you import into - I'm not so convinced on constraining for constraining sake. Sure, if you need video of moving mechanisms

Does anyone know if they will be adding mates/assemblies? I'd really love to see hinges and assemblies at work.
@kenw8875
@kenw8875 10 месяцев назад
no they will not. mates a la SW and F360 flow will not be adopted. Plasticity is not true parametric.
@Kuechmeister
@Kuechmeister 10 месяцев назад
I use C4D to simulate or animate it later, I made a simple Outblock before, to check if the mechnanic makes sence, because its generic and brandfree.

@@kenw8875 how is it not true parametric of its running off the Dassault systems Solidworks kernel? (That's why the price went up btw)
@kenw8875
@kenw8875 10 месяцев назад
@@Ruggada solidworks uses the ACIS geo kernel and is true parametric. Plasticity code runs on the Parasolid kernel and is a direct modeler. Plas had dimm capability, sure, but is not true parametric. using a table of x-y-z values, for example, for var callouts is not possible in Plas, unlike SW and F360. Plas is a la sculpting in clay. Plasticity rules!

@@Kuechmeister the Bridge is game changing. the QR add-on tool for Blender is basic. not optimized for heavy organics/surfacing work. best one can do it is dial in the mesh density when exporting from Plasticity to Blender via the Bridge.
