This is such a huge help. No longer do I have to bounce a track, upload to google drive, wait, play it back on my phone, then rinse/repeat. Youre the man Kenny!
I've been using Sonobus for a while and love it. Car checks are simple using Sonobus. In fact, if you use a remote client to monitor and control your DAW, mixing in (almost) real time from the car is pretty handy too. I don't car check often anymore but this is a slick way to do so. I've even sat in my car while others involved in the project did the same. Being able to talk through any device as a source and text all within the software is a cool way to get immediate feedback from others. Another great video Kenny.
I'd like to thank you Kenny for your videos!!! I for the longest time was a Reaper basher. After downloading Reaper & watching your videos I have realized I was out of my mind. Reaper runs flawlessly on my computer & ive learned so many things that other Daws never have explained correctly. Thank you again!!
ok this makes it easy to get sounds out of ios garageband into reaper, i do like the smart drums and don't have a mac. mind blown again .. cheers Kenny
Kenny, I've learned so much from your videos over the past 2 years. Thanks. Also I just gotta say...it's taking me forever to acclimate myself to seeing your face lmao. Like my perception of what you would look like based on your voice is so far from what you actually look like, that your new intros make me feel like I'm out of sync with reality lmao.
Thanks Kenny! What an amazing tip. Like other people have mentioned, I've wasted so much time bouncing mixes and uploading to my phone. This is going to be a huge time saver. Thanks again!
very cool again. of course it’s sad that people are seriously listening to to music on tiny phones speakers, but that reality in 21 century. so we have to be able to check our mixes on these devices too. this seems to be an excellent way to do it.
Its sad but thats the way it is and adapting is needed. I hate tik tok but people are using it and music is definitely used in the creation of their videos so it makes sense to have music translate well especially since people are always on their phones now anyway.
SonoBus also works in the REAPER monitoring effects chain, if desired. The Android version is in Beta, and seems a little buggy to me. Hope they get the bugs out soon.
... thanks again Kenny 😉 ... found and downloaded .... and the great thing is also in Italian and can work with old x32 systems. Thank you so much 😉🎼👍🏽
Dagnabit - I mixed my first full album earlier this week and developed a whole difficult and error prone workflow for rendering, copying to apple music, syncing that with my phone, and listening back and repeating endlessly until it sounded good everywhere, This could have saved me hours. Also, I never quite understood if Apple Music was doing additional processing or not, which seems a fair question. So this is HOURRAY!!! On a related note, would it be reasonable ask you to do a video to show how YOU change your mix to sound as good as it can both on your studio monitors and on an iphone? Do you have some tricks? Some things you listen for, or know from experience? Some things that will just never sound the same on a phone?
Great stuff! Thanks! Always happy to learn of new software that is practical and open source. I wonder if there is a way to set it up for a minimum and global latency so that every musician with a phone and earbuds can get their own IEM system in a rehearsal.
Thank you thank you for this tutorial. I been trying different methods to accomplish this very purpose as I been sending my master mix out with rearoute into Voicemeeter and have that stream out audio too. I like this method better as the app and plugin seem inclusive. I definitely like checking my mix on different playback systems, including phone and computer as well to see if I need to make any micro adjustments.
Ok I deeply tested it from yesterday night and today. Inside my LAN I have drop-out issues even with 150-150mS buffer. the only one things connected in WiFi are the smartphone and the tablet (both iOS) . the Production Machine is connected via RJ45. Not any other traffic is on the network. In several occasions it made crash Reaper. I was constrained to uninstall and to reinstall SonoBus. The idea behind it is great (it's the only one thing is missing form Ninjam, which works without issues), but to me, more reliability is required, to be effectively employed in Studio, as far as you aren't just trying it to see how does it work.
Hi, sorry to bother you but i've run into a major problem with Reaper. When i record i see the sound wave just like normal but when i play back there is just blank, but i hear the sound. I must have done something i should not. I've trid to ask a couple of forums with no succes. Would realy appreciate any hint.Yours Ulf Svensson
I just tried to play a synth on my iPad and to listen to it in my DAW. The iPad kept playing through its speakers and no signal arrived through Sonobus. Possibly you can make a video about how one can be fortunate with that in case you like.
7:40 i'm trying to record a passage from the keyboard (i have no audio interface) where the sounds patches are been modulated by Reaper via cc and my reference sound is also on Reaper, if i mute the speaker as said on the video, i dont get feedback but i dont get the sound for reference to listen, any ideas on how to solve this ?
We need a new video about this new features ReaSamploMatic5000 add Media Explorer options to set a MIDI note or channel to assign when inserting media into sampler, incrementing if inserting on new track add Media Explorer option to assign MIDI note based on detected pitch when inserting media into sampler when inserting into sampler and detecting pitch, assign sampler pitch start rather than note start (so the sample can be played at different pitches, correctly tuned) ...
seems to work for me. I don't use the method Kenny mentions here, but I share the .mov file with my macbook, and from there drag it into Reaper, and everything is ducky.
@@LaterHolmes could be. I had a PC up until 5 or 6 years ago. And at that time I found EVERYTHING about transferring files from apple products to Windows file systems was onerous and counter intuitive. I think the only way to it is to plug your phone into a USB port and open it as a file share on Windows but I would find it daunting to figure out today.
