Hey Joel, thanks for watching! Your comment raises multiple interesting points about Deathloop's story that I feel compelled to respond to. 1.) I understand that it's clear the messages were left by other Colts, but that raises more questions than it answers. For instance, why does Colt physically see the words in the world around him (and comment on that phenomenon)? Are they past Colts, or somehow alternate-reality versions of him? What are the implications of that? 2.) Julianna's motives are implied throughout the game, but are still unclear. My best understanding is that she herself is 'bored' and likes the challenge of egging Colt on and still killing him every loop. But when the stakes are as high as your very existence, why take that chance? Does she secretly want the loop to end herself? Why not try to solve the problems with the loop by rescuing her Visionary colleagues and explaining each morning that they've lost their memory? Her goals are odd and under explored. 3.) The simplistic banter between NPCs wouldn't bother me as much if they hadn't marketed the game in such a way that suggested that you'd find crucial details from the residents of Blackreef at every turn. They made it seem like their conversations would be chock-full of important and useful intel, but in the end, they're not any more complex than NPCs in any other game. It's never worth it to sneak up on enemies and hear their conversation as opposed to killing them on sight. When it comes to the Visionaries, why is our only exposure to them via text messages and short 2D animations? They each have clearly distinct features/interests, but in practice, they all fall flat as 1-dimensional caricatures of rich jerks that just want to live and/or party for eternity. This one would have been so easy to fix, too! Why doesn't Colt have 'flashbacks' when he discovers some info about a particular Visionary, a la Breath of the Wild's memory cutscenes? As it stands, each Visionary represents such a missed opportunity for character exposition and depth. 4.) The ambiguous ending/story could have been cool if they had spent just a little more time fleshing it out. I'm not looking for midichlorians, but as it stands, the practical explanations for what the characters are experiencing are non-existent. I feel like my wife and I came up with way more interesting ideas for the story in trying to figure out what the 'twist' was going to be. For example: Everything infused with Residuum exhibits a weird distortion effect that looks like a sort of 'glitch'. Could the whole world of Blackreef secretly be a complex digital simulation? Have all the Eternalists unknowingly killed themselves and uploaded their brains to a machine? Alternatively, does Julianna secretly want to escape from the loop? Has she figured out that the best way to manipulate Colt into doing her dirty work is by taunting him? Was AEON sabotaged by Julianna to erase everyone's memories each morning as a way of giving her a leg up/more power in this post-death world? In reality, the biggest 'twist' in Deathloop is that Julianna is Colt's daughter (no duh), and it has no real bearing or consequence on the story. I was expecting something more consequential, like the relationship between Booker and Elizabeth in Bioshock Infinite. I expected some sort of reveal - something that would have some real weight to it, that you could go back and play the game again knowing and pick out cool moments that have new meanings and implications as a result. But as it stands, I don't really have any reason to play Deathloop again unless they add some sort of major new content. Thanks again for checking out the video. Take care!

@@Nintendrew first things first, thanks for the responce, i wasn't expecting one, it's good to know you actually care about your community and i know this might come off sarcastic but it isn't, you rock man! ok back to arguing my case 1.i admit it isn't clear EXACTLY what's going on but the implications from my perscpective is this isn't the first time this has happened, this is a deathloop of deathloops where he has tried to escape before, succeeded and then came back, this is shown at the end where the words quote what julianan is saying as she says it. she is lying to colt right to his face and has many times 2. there is no point where she is self sabotaging unless you count ego, she is doing this all from the perspective of someone who has done this song and dance many times, she thinks she'll win as she has before, many times. 3. I'll give you NPC banter to a point, you do find out small things like holes in walls from them which fair if you don't count, (i wouldn't count either to be honest) but really as i said, they sell the vibe. as for the visionaries, they are not just in text, they are their setting, alex dorsey's mantion is him. the cultist is holding a sermon as you arrive, you learn about them as they are, maybe not much in gameplay but a lot in story. 4. this is a point where we will have to agree to disagree, i think they did enough. the rest of this is almost pure opinion so millage will vary you are better at reading stories than i am but I didn't call the daughter thing a bigger thing i want to get into though is i don't think every story needs a twist. also no offence to your wife, but i personally don't like 'simulations' twists, as mentioned, a twist isn't always needed and this is one of those that doesn't really have one and i'm ok with that finally, i don't put value on replay-ability, once i'm personally done, i sell. i play metroid games once and i'm done, i play open worlds once and yes, once i get returnal, once i play it's main story. i''m done and will sell it for the next thing. i can see others disagreeing but for me, replaying is a thing i do months or years after completion but i admit this is just me. explaining things like resdium beyond what they did i think is dangerously close to the midichlorians example. at some point, any explanation is just adding words to lore as opposed to adding story.

At 0:28 you can see the cut if you look at Sean closely. It's well made but for a trained eye it's noticeable.

No sequel Housemarque confirmed they are creating a new project

@@bamban_garcia5562 Not necessarily. They said their NEXT project is a new IP. Doesn't mean a sequel isn't happening.

@@GreaserMan Unlikely considering Housemarque does not really do sequels since they established themselves all the way back in 1995, if anything they do enhanced versions of their past titles rare as that may be but not sequels Out of 30 or so of their projects almost all of them are unique titles with 1 or 2 being reworked or enhanced versions brought to modern consoles Like I said it's unlikely we will get a sequel most likely a new project will take place after their current in development IP is released
