when i worked at a guitar shop we had a ridiculous amount of vintage Dyna Comps, 12 or 13 i think. so one day i grabbed them all, chained them together, and maxed them all out. No joke it was such a great/terrible sound. the tone and dynamics were like the equivalent of trying to speak after being punched in the throat, and this oppressive noise floor would slowly swell in as each note faded out and then immediately die when you hit a note again.

Crate Blue Voodoo, most of ya'll don't understand the pinnacle of Crate could sit comfortably with the very upper echelons of high gain amps. The BV300H has been my pride and joy since 2007. Don't get me wrong, everything else Crate makes, I pretty much agree with the majority that it's almost worthless when it comes to more professional rigs, practice, sure, but otherwise, meh...their flagship amp is a giant exception, the clean channel is amazing, and once you put an EQ pedal in the loop, it's just truly godly clean tone, I like extra clean glassy lush clean tones, I'm very picky like most guitarists, and it's just so satisfying to hear the fullness and mood it has, wonderful pedal platform, and the distortion channel is so tasty, my favorite distortion tone ever, I know I'm a little biased, but I've never come across a distortion I like more, I think it's about as high gain as you can get while still really feeling all the analog goodness. They over-built this amp, everyone talks about all the most popular high gain amps, and I'm always surprised both that hardly anyone mentions it, and the rare occasion someone DOES talk about it. Probably one of the most criminally underrated amps ever. A pawn shop downtown from me had one of these first Crates a couple months ago, I wonder if they still have it.
