Facing west to Auckland’s inner harbour this family home is composed within overlapping triangular forms that reach down a narrow site to the beach below.
Constructed from concrete it has been conceived as an organic sandcastle shaped by contextual forces, a stretched sculpted form derived from and by the materials/forces of its environment.
Shelter is defined by the protective southwest buttress while connection to the harbour is amplified through composed view shafts and soaring blades.
An object of shifting place and timeless change, the elements heightened, their effects cast in-situ and celebrated.
