Fact of the matter is . Conor changed Dustin for the better . Dustin since grew his hair out after conor called him a pea head and now Dustin doesn’t invest emotions into fights
They should have booked dustin vs that guy, i feel like that guy would have been so mad that he would have gone into ultra instinct mode, and it would have been a good fight
Even though Conor is the superstar he is, as time passed it feels like Poirier has become the main character in their feud. Crazy how much Dustin has developed and evolved while it seems like Conor has been stuck in the past.
It's because Conor got caught up in the money and the reputation he built, he thought he was invincible at that point and that was the start of his downfall, while on the other hand, Dustin was still hungry to rise to the top, all the losses in the past kept him humble, so he rose step by step, and learned from his mistakes.
Conor probably had the best run in ufc history. He knocked out everyone within the first round, his determination was crazy in his early years. Everyone talks about the Comeback but he is done, he’s a double champ and made tons of money he really doesn’t have that killer instinct anymore.
Maybe not the best run, but CERTAINLY the most exciting. IMO the best run in UFC history was Jon Jones beating 5 former lightheavyweight champions over the course of 18 months
yeah, the man is rich now, won double belt, no more hunger. 16:21 = he states he loves the game because he whoops people for a boat load of cash. He doesn't need that money anymore, no incentive to keep grinding his ass off and getting whooped like in the last couple fights.
Naw it was the Nate fight that was his downfall. Got subbed in the first fight and won a decision win in the 2nd fight but I'd contest that win entirely. Nate punked him out and he never looked the same after it
Man it's kind of a bummer to see how composed McGregor was back then. I think we can look back now and see this was lightning in a bottle. Transcended the sport then but now look at him.
Like the story of Icarus, still though I'd rather have been him than me Least he got to sore high during his lifetime, even of the crash will be hard coming down 🤷🏼♂️
one of the most mindboggling thing in my lifetime is Conor not anticipating Dustin's leg kicks in the second fight consider he was throwing them and landing them here, it just makes no sense since even youtubers knew it was coming.
Yea man, and the viscous kicks ended up being his demise, finished by thigh kick. Oh wait, he got ko'd by a flurry of jaw breaking ear busting hooks and uppercuts, but yea uh leg kicks!
While McGregor doesn’t have the title defenses of Jones or GSP, his impact on the sport and classic performances and moments has him up on the UFC’s Mount Rushmore with Jones, Silva, and GSP.
Conor's striking was better than everybody else in the division at that time it's not like that anymore, I mean look at Volkanovski, he'd probably play with Conor if Conor didn't finish him in the first two.(not that Conor can make Featherweight)
No one's accomplished what Connor has accomplished in that sport he is like the Arnold Schwarzenegger of MMA he is worth millions now and just like Arnold Schwarzenegger he's about to be in a movie with Jake Gyllenhaal Roadhouse it's crazy this dude's a superstar. Not to mention held titles in two different weight divisions
DC held titles in two divisions, Khabib retired undefeated, and Conor has lost 3 of his last 4 fights. Plenty of people achieved more than him. In terms of money and marketing yeah he's pretty much the all time GOAT of MMA.
@@joshb1137 accomplished could mean the number of eyes he bought to the sport. Now he is the most powerful man twitter has ever seen. Things change fast
@@joshb1137 conor held titles in 2 divisions, knocked a 10 year champion in 10 seconds, also held 2 titles in another promotion before ufc, brought millions of fans to the sport, one of the very few fighters to have wins in 3 different weight classes. did khabib or dc do any of that except for padded records
So happy to see Dustin become a star since this fight and beat Conor twice , felt like Dustin wasn't treated fairly by the ufc leading up to this fight Everyone wanted him to lose
Dustin is my favorite fighter in the UFC, but man this was disappointing for me when it happened. I remember the hype so well, the poster of McGregor on a train and Dustin standing tall on the tracks. I honestly thought this was going to be the end of the hype train. Instead I watched Connor McGregor elevate the UFC to a mainstream level. Not too many of my friends were watching before this, but they all had their eyes on this one and I was saying how Dustin was going to end this. It was cool to see them all ask me questions and ask my opinions, but incredibly embarrassing once Dustin got finished in the first round. It was a great lesson for me when talking about MMA. Never speak in absolutes.
Fact of the matter is . Conor changed Dustin for the better . Dustin since grew his hair out after conor called him a pea head and now Dustin doesn’t invest emotions into fights
I miss the old black guy that did the scales , I can't remember his name , what ever happened to him ? He always seemed to love his job and all the fighters seemed to love him
Conor was in his mental prime and he always had the confidence walking into a fight. He had something to prove. He was also fighting with a reach advantage. When he fought guys his own size, he never stood a chance, let’s be real guys
So your saying that cowboy cerrone, aldo..DIAZ, Dustin…….Eddie Alvarez are smaller than him? Your a goof 😂🤦♂️ smh Jesus. Didn’t know someone could be that wrong lol
Bro imagine being Dustin and seeing Dana and the guy who's been bullying you and humiliating you all week having a five star dinner and laughing and taking pictures together the week of your fight lmfaoo... You can tell this entire fight week fucked with young and immature Dustin's head so much. I really felt bad for Poirier during this fight week, but the way he bounced back after this and became who he is today is so fucking awesome to see. Looking back at this makes the 2021 wins over McGregor feel that much sweeter when you think of how this fight went. Conors got the money, but Dustin has the respect of the fight game and is Conor's father low key.
@@abrahamgonzalez8270 Conor and Diaz are tied 1-1 😂 and Conor won the lightweight championship and has arguably his best performance ever AFTER both the Diaz fights.
It really pissed me off that every fighter that Connor face said that he’s not a real fighter and they’re going to win him. The kind of disrespect it’s disgusting. They have to knowledge that Connor is a great fighter. They are real haters and I don’t understand why everybody say that they hate Connor, he don’t do anything to them to be hate.
13:22 Conor immediately hitting Dustin in the back of the head with two hammer fists and not getting any repercussion is the most McGregor Era shit I've ever seen. Must be easier to finish in the first round when you cheat. The flexibility he got from the refs was on another level, and if you don't believe me go watch the Khabib fight again 💀
@@bendak7584 actually no, a lot of fighters can take more than the first punch, rattling the back of the head however will finish any fighter which is why it's an illegal punch. Connor just gets special treatment. Same with them letting him knee Khabib in the head while grounded, cuffing gloves, pulling shorts you name it Connor has prolly worked around it.
@@adamblack7248 When you turn the back of your head into a punch after they had already thrown it then it's fine. Dustin shouldn't have kept moving his back towards the punch. That's how the rules for that work
@@bendak7584 Okay, how about the second direct punch? It's up to the judges to CALL an illegal punch true, but it is still an illegal strike. Connor however does not get this call for two consecutive punches with his hand on the back of Dustin's head and neck? You also realize how goofy you sound blaming Dustin for being hit illegally twice? In fact this rule is so central to MMA that you will often see fighters use the back of their head to avoid damage because strikers know it's illegal. Its why grounded opponents often DO turn away from the blows and also why people turn their head when someone has their back. The ref will pick you up and call a timeout if you sustain serious damage like that. Or outright DQ the fight.
@@adamblack7248 He hit him like once in the back of the head after the initial drop. I think you're just over thinking it because you hate conor. I don't even care for the guy anymore but it's not going to make me biased.
People always say, this Conor changed after the Khabib fight. I think they’re wrong. This Conor died when he fought Floyd. That’s what changed him forever.
It's not just his fighting that changed for the worse - here he is just in a far better place mentally, laughing is genuine looks at peace but still a very intimidating dude when the time comes. Now? Conor just seems like a parody of his former self and the fame seemed to really change him he just seems different
@@declanspelman5617 close rounds ? Lol the only round that judge gave to him , when I say judges I mean not us fans because he didn't win that round , after all the cheatings, khabib could have submitted him in round 2 instead of smashing his face the entire round . He wanted to punish the guy as much as he could that night .
It's funny all the best moment episodes pretty much close after the fight , there always few min to go after fight bc Conor got more interesting shit to say lol I bet he could make two video beat moments for McGregor, win or lose
Lol kid he was just bigger than him, and plus conor doesn’t care like he did when he had fiery hunger. He beat someone who was far greater than khabib ever was or even Charles who’s better than khabib. Knocked him out in 13 seconds undefeated for 10 years. Dominated again moving up. Dustin hasn’t ever gotten close to winning a belt he ain’t no champion he gave both those RNC’s like a submissive punk he is fake humble punk
@@googlegmail9888 How does it matter that Dustin was bigger than him, when he's always been bigger than Conor, and Conor's knocked him out before? Poirier developed as a fighter, McGregor didn't. Even if Poirier never won the belt, which is largely due to the skillset of the current champs, McGregor won't hold another title again either since he can't beat them too. Granted, McGregor is more accomplished since he's held two titles, I'll give you that. He's just not the better fighter, the game's passed him and his inactivity fucked him up
@@dearthairagusmairtireach7261 never became champ and when they re matched it was clear Dustin filled out 155 more because Conor was out having fun being the champ
