Pokémon Base Stats Explained

Pokémon Base Stats Explained in a clear and easy to understand fassion. Base Stats in Pokémon offer a great tool for comparing the strengths and weaknesses of different species of Pokémon. You can compare Pokémon regardless of their Level, IVs, EVs or nature and this makes the process both managable and fun!
The Base Stats of a Pokémon is the main ingredient that goes into the general calculation of the numbers a Pokémon displays in its Summary. The HP, Attack, Defence, Special Attack, Special Defence, and Speed all have a specific base stat number, depending on which species of Pokémon we are talking about.
In this video, I go into detail on the Pokémon Base Stats of Charizard and Greninja, and compare their speed stats to illustrate how either Pokémon under certain circumstances can be the fastest Pokémon when only looking at their stats.
Pokémon Base Stats are determined by the code in the game, and they are determined by GAME FREAK. Some Pokémon may have their base stats changed in-between generations of Pokémon, but this is rare.
Pokémon Base Stats determine the potential of a species of Pokémon as a whole, while Level, IVs, EVs and nature combined determine which individual Pokémon of a species are the strongest.
To learn more about Pokémon Base Stats, I recommend to look up the Base Stats of your favorite Pokémon in an online encyclopedia. If you have any Pokémon at Level 50 or Level 100, you may compare the stats in the summary of your Pokémon, to those in the range listed in the online encyclopedia. Try to see if you can determine whether your Pokémon's stats are in the high or low range, based on what the Base Stats allow.
Information about specific Pokémon Base Stats for this video was obtained from: bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/

Summarizing, On the Sword and Shield for exemple, base stats can be showed after you finish the League, check the Nature of your Pokémon, when they are Amazing Stats it means they have a great Nature Base status so, they will reach the max of his power by Nature…. Even if you compare to another Pokémon at the same specie…some of them are just ok, some are Good Stats etc…. Get level 100 and your pokemon will be strong, but try to use the Amazing ones. Basically is it but no one knows how to explain.

I know combining levels, IVs, EVs, and Natures with the BST gives your pokemon its current stats, but I never learned HOW the calculation worked. So... why then are these stats called "base stats"? These bases are not where the pokemon starts immediately upon evolving, nor will these stats ever be relevant in battle or comparing two pokemon in practice. This is all general theory. Base is supposed to mean foundation or, the start/beginning. Not a general comparison. It's so confusing and convoluted, that it would make sense that it doesn't matter if you pump the right ev's into a pokemon with a specific nature. The end stats matter, the base stats do not.
@mauriciofreitas9439
@mauriciofreitas9439 2 месяца назад
That’s my doubt as well, IMAO, I think the base stats will determine the max of growth in each ability. If Pokémon has an Amazing stats Attack, for exemple, when you reach level 100 and hyper training the ability, the Pokémon will reach a better potencial than Pokémon’s with Ok stats on Attack. I asked him about it because base stats the name just suggests. Base. So, why Pokémon’s have a different natural base stats if it doesn’t matter? I’m trying to growth only the Pokémon with Amazing stats like Best stats in the most abilities.

I have a question about pokémon HP stats. For example, if a Charizard has its base HP at 78. Why does it say it's level range starts at 138 (without IVs EVs, and hindering nature) at level 50? And 266 at level 100 for that matter? The rest of the stats make sense to me. And I tried researching for an answer on serebi and Bulbapedia but had a hard time finding the answer
@nirtheart
@nirtheart 8 месяцев назад
Each stat has a starting point at Lv. 50: HP is 60, you can call this the "Bedrock stat" or "Starting point". If Charizard has 0 IVs in HP and 0 EVs in HP, at level 50 Charizard will have 138 HP because 60 + 78 = 138. The 60 is where the HP of any Pokémon starts (except Shedinja) at level 50. The 78 comes from the base stat. Azumarill has base 100 in HP. If you assume Azumarill has 0 IVs in HP and 0 EVs in HP, then you will have 60 + 100 = 160
@nirtheart
@nirtheart 8 месяцев назад
If you are interested in this kind of thing, you may consider paying the $2 to join my Discord. We have discussions like this all the time
@nirtheart
@nirtheart 8 месяцев назад
The bedrock stat for HP at Lv. 100 === 110 The base stat in the summary stat equation is doubled at Lv. 100 compared to Lv. 50: Charizard has base 78 in HP, and at level 100 with 0 IVs and 0 EVs in HP: 110 + 2 * (78) = 266
@nirtheart
@nirtheart 8 месяцев назад
Adding the IVs and EVs back in to get the range I assume you understand, but to complete the example at Lv. 50: Charizard has base 78 in HP, 31 IVs in HP and 252 EVs in HP: Starting point (60) + Base Stat (78) + IVs (31/2 = 15... it's rounded down to a whole number) + EVs (252/4=63) = 185 60 + 78 + 15 + 63 = 185 The range that Charixard's HP has at Lv. 50 is between 138 and 185

But what is actual a base stat actualy :( And how do u find the stats of a pokemon at lvl 1
@nirtheart
@nirtheart 3 года назад
A Pokémon's stat at level 1 is put together by a formula, where the Base Stat, Individual Values and Effort Values are the variables that gives the number you see in the summary. The math for base stats is complicated, but the important thing to know is that it is a number that is the same for all Pokémon of a spesies. And you can use that number to compare Pokémon. The higher the number compared to a different species of Pokémon, the better. What is important at the end of the day is where the RANGE ends up being, because that is the actual number that shows up for the stat in the Pokémon Summary. I recommend you to look up some of your favorite Pokémon's base stats and get used to the concept that way. See if you have any Pokémon at level 50 or level 100 and see if they are in the high end or low end of their range

@nirtheart
@nirtheart 2 месяца назад
Which part were you confused about? Attack is a stat that goes into the calculation of damage dealt to the opponent where the opponents Defense is used in combination with HP to determine how much damage a move does. The base power of a move plays a role, if it's STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) or if it's a critical hit. A held item can influence the damage done, and also weather and other effects. Pokémon is a very intricate game and you cannot simply explain every aspect of the game in a single video. This video was strictly about base stats, so if you have any questions related to that, please let me know.
