There have always been extinct pokemon that need to be revived from fossils. For some of these, I'd guess that no intact fossils exist/have been found in the modern day. As for Hisuian forms, I'd suggest that these have just disappeared due to natural selection. It's doubtful that enough time would have passed in the pokemon world for these kinds of changes to actually be possible irl, but games like pokemon can take some creative liberties with that kind of thing

This is even a NEW MAINLINE game... its a prequel to a region...

With the exception of Anamorous, I’m pretty sure all the new Pokémon are regional evolutions of existing Pokémon. So even the “new” Pokémon are not that new.
