Brother great video. I’m a ski doo guy but Polaris Triples are the bomb especially the ones you build. Thanks for the great education on Polaris but can be used on any rebuild. You’re the Boss of the Triple Brother. Thanks again Cape Breton 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Was hoping you would do a video on that engine can't wait for the next one luckily I never had a problem with my 95 xlt the young guy I sold it to is still running it had almost 5000 on it when sold 👍👍👍
The early 90s Indy 500s had the same problem. I had two that went down on me. The chamfer on the oil holes is exactly the path we took. Ran without problems after we rebuilt them.
Good tip on the square bit. Tim knows some stuff. Good reminder on the crank keys. I should get a couple new keys in stock for my Tom Gara cranks, if they are still available.
If ya love 'er, lube 'er! Lots of options, but overall haven't found anything better than Loctite 515/518 for good smooth cases. Yamabond, Suzuki sealer, etc all good options too, bit thicker than really needed IMO, but they won't fail. Great tip on stator screw, those have foiled many a project- beauty of the community, sharing those secrets!
I`m sure there are other ways, but I have always used a nylon rope to hold the piston. Just making sure a guy has the piston up enough so the rope does not catch a port. That tidbit of info on the punch....never heard that! Almost makes me excited to use that...weird to think that 😂
Hey Todd! Great video! So many XLT’s out there, this is beneficial to alot of us sledheads 👍 Lots of good tips in there! I’ve always liked YamaBond for crankcase halves, seems to work good! I think 97 was the first year of the 4th oil line🤔 Cheers buddy 🍻
Thank you so much for the tip I appreciate it so much. If you know of anyone in Canada that does work even close to your quality I sure would love to know about him/ her
Good day Todd I have. 1994 Polaris XLT 580 monoblock. I just love it it is my first sled ever And I’m now 59. The reason I’m writing is that I am looking for a manifold for my machine and I was wondering if you or someone you know might have one for sale. I asking you because I trust you and I have found d out the hard way recently that you can’t trust people very much as I was ripped off $500 when I last tried to buy a set of purple plastic skies for my sled. Thank you in advance for letting me know.
Always great to watch your videos. I’m having issues with the water pump on my 02 xcr800. 3500 miles and had a bearing failure that broke the driven gear. I purchased a replacement from amazon that lasted an amazing 12 miles. I could see no issues with the gear on the Crank, everything was clean and showed no damage etc. Do you have a pump you’d recommend and anything else I should be aware of? The engine was modified when new (and I mean new) by hot to go (?). Heads, jetting, pipes, base gaskets, clutching, blah blah. This is a sled Ive known about for at least fifteen years and I scooped up when the original owner decided to sell. Other mods done were skis, 136 track m10 suspension and about 769 studs!! Actually he gave me the original zero mile x10 skid for my 97 xcr440 that was begging t have its skid overhauled. It was so perfect and clean I was hesitant to use it! Literally be on his shop wall since he brought the sled home from the dealer when new.. anyway I’ve heard there may be issues to watch for with these 800 pumps and thought you or other triple lovers can help me out. PS this sled is by far the fastest I’ve sat on ever. I cannot pull the trigger from a standing start, I unfortunately have cardiovascular issues and i pass out unless I roll on the throttle. Great fun! Cheers! Keep it up down there.
There is a couple pump rebuilders out there. Amazon and eBay should be ashamed of themselves selfs for that junk pump they sell. Not one will ever make it to 100 miles. What country are you in? Email me polaris.trashcan@gmail.com
Just wondering do you have the crank pins welded so they don't go out of phase. Thought that was a problem with the xlt's with the higher RPM With pipes. Thanks
Is Been 15 or so years since I worked on the 600 triple, I don't remember the oil line on the PTO, mine had the 3 oil injector lines only, think they were late 90s, am I wrong?
