Thanks for your video. I was in the middle of changing my Bendix and when it would not come past the flywheel I started searching for videos. I found yours and one other very helpful. The other one mention taking the Bendix apart by removing the retaining ring. I found removing the retaining ring to be next to impossible while it's still in place. As a last ditch effort I twitched it to the left and it fell out into my hand WITHOUT removing the flywheel. (the starter has to be removed to allow room to make the swing)
Thank you for this video!! Mine has been like this for 3 years and I couldn't find any good tutorials on it and the forums were not helpful! Had the part for a year. Now I'm going to do it!
That was one of the most informative and well recorded step by step instructional video I’ve seen for mechanical projects! I am changing mine tommorrow! However, did you know it was the starter clutch because the alternator obviously had the ability to crank? Asking cause I’m teaching myself by watching videos lol
I don’t put grease on the flywheel or gears in there because I’ve never seen any of them have grease from the factory. Plus I don’t want the grease to fling around in there in the rare case it would mess up the pickup coil. You can put grease on yours I just don’t think it’s all that necessary
