Good video Scott. I ran across a certain product that gives me a most astounding finish for chrome or just a few other 'precious metals. The only place I've ever been able to get it was a local Fire Place & Outdoor Patio and Deck, Grill store here in my hometown. The name of it is Wenall (I think it's spelled) It was like 12.99 in the late 1990's. but the thing was a paste in a tube, you wipe it in and let sit for 20-30 min then just wipe it off, no other work, and it was the shiniest finish a professional metallurgist could ever expect ! i should've looked on amazon before commenting.

Hey Scotty. I like your videos and I like you. When I was coming up the ranks as a computer tech; I didn't know the answer to 3/4 of the problems. I had to do research....tons of research, then narrow it down to 1or 2 solutions I saw most often that solved the problem. Sometimes I get it wrong no matter how diligent I try The point is that you publicly say you were wrong from time to time. Nobody's perfect. Your 40+ years of knuckle - busting work isnt easy, and I know how it is to have to buy specialized tools that add up to a MOUNTAIN of Snap - On man debt. I dont think the general public realizes that the $20,000 of tools my BFF has are only part of being a good mechanic, but the ASE curriculum is just as hard as mine You want to keep a good mechanic? Help him by paying the bill for his hard work, dedication, and for all the blood, sweat, tears, polish, fumes, etc mech a's nics have to endure so we can sit our fat arse in our Bluetoothed heated seatmobile. So keep on keeping on Scotty. -Chris

For years, I've been using el-cheapo Turtle Wax chrome polish ($2.xx at Walmart) for all the chrome parts (truck bumper, running board, exhaust tip). Easier way to polish is to use a 3" Griot's Garage DA with dirt cheap foam 3" pads from ebay. Makes chrome look perfect. However dirt will buildup VERY quickly (especially on low-to-the-ground components like exhaust tip/running boards). So its quite the losing battle.

I do basically the same thing, polish with dedicated pads and my Mother's Power Ball and Mini. I follow that up with a paint prep/IPA wipe then ceramic coat everything. Anti-static and self cleaning properties, you're done for 2 years. Even a cheap coating will make your life easier. I always have bottles of those dirt cheap eBay coatings around strictly for wheel wells, plastic trim, mudflaps, etc.. It is a great way to over deliver, and it is actually cheaper and easier than messing with dressings. But I coated my daily driver metal with it 10 months ago after a polish just for fun, still looks perfect. I'm gonna test it on a fender sometime, just to see how it does on paint.

Is the acidity of this cleaner enough that it will turn aluminum that horrid white-ish color?

How about a sealant or protectant that will hold up to the heat of exhaust tips? I have a decently expensive cat back exhaust and keep the tips in perfect condition but I would love to be able to put some protectant on them that will actually hold up? Any ideas? I know traditional wax is going to break down immediately from the heat. I use Collinite metal wax to keep them shiny and clean but no way it's staying on there after a few drives.

I tried a wheel brush and got a face blast of carbon spots lol Edit OMG thats nothing for carbon. Mine turned my whole soap bucket black. I do have 4 tips but still ... it was nasty. Hopefully with weekly care it wont be as bad.

Scott, does the wheel brightener dilute 4-1?
@dallaspaintcorrectionautod8343
Yes it can.. I even dilute it 5:1 and it still works great

I got a novel idea watching clean the exhaust tip, how about a wheel ceramic coating? at least I believe when the car is brand new, it would go along way in keeping the tips pristine, ijs.

Scott, useful as always. I'm glad I finally subscribed. Regarding, the Flitz Polishing Ball is it the 2, 5 or 7 inch model? It appears to be the 7 inch but just wanted to verify. Also, is that on a Rayobi? Thanks again! AP
