Andy, I had a HW77K a few years ago....Actually 19 years ago..How tme flies. It was a good accurate air rifle if a little heavy. The record trigger unit was superb. I wish I still had it. Sandy

Polishing the piston tube looks nice, and makes you feel like a job well done. The way a newly washed car drives better. It actually does nothing to improve the shot cycle. This tube free floats within the breach tube, pivoting at the point the piston is attached. The breach tube I/D is 0.4mm larger than the piston tubes O/D. Because of the way the sear engages, you get some rubbing of the piston tube at the opposite end to the piston. That may be worth polishing out, as is the external diameter of the breach tube. As you mention in one of your replies it just looks nice. Hws are geared up for around 15ft/lb for the European market. Through my experience they all react well to being short stroked. Faster lock time and less hold sensitive.

Brilliant. One of my favourite air rifles of all time, the 77. Our kid had one in .22, accurate as fuck.

Pistons on hw 77s are probably best done by hand hours of laboriously polishing them with simachrome can really make the differences from industrial machines I use a dremal

Hi, after polishing and reassembling it, did you notice any improvement in the firing cycle? Have you noticed improvements in accuracy when compared to before too? Greetings from Italy ciao Fabio

True I agree it's only cosmetic and just a cosmetic alteration to make you think shiny goes faster

@@madamguillotine6819 at the crown ,yes .And at various points along the piston tube .Polishing makes it smoother along with a thin smear of molybdenum disulphide.
