It’s interesting you quote Jesus as somehow addressing this, but if you look at the context of either Matthew 19 or Mark 10, in each, Jesus is talking about divorce and not polygamy. Polygamy is about adding and keeping wives, while divorce is about subtracting and putting away wives. Now please make what you’re saying make sense.

This has been a topic close to my heart and I am in a healthy free loving relationship with the most high God. I’m 45 married for 20 years and the majority of the women I know are single black women! These kind of relationships are OK when done for the right reasons and what I mean by that is the man has to understand his relationship and purpose in the sight and ways of God, when this is done correctly The man is more likely to choose women ( through the type of leadership and covering he’s offering)! Are you serious?..it clearly states MAN shall leave mother and father and shall cleave to his WIFE.. singular. Deuteronomy had a command to not multiply wives. Jesus said the 2 (1 man 1 woman) shall become 1. And there is a pattern of confusion to all the men that had multiple wives check the record. First off Brother John, I want to thank you for your reply and sincerely apologize for just getting back to you! As for cleaving to one’s WIFE, singular, and as for Jesus stating, 2 shall become one, I suggest to you that the word one here could not logically nor mathematically mean one and the same. However, the word one throughout Scripture is rather about the unity between 1 man and 1 woman in marriage. Not that the 2 become no longer 2 individuals, because marriage never is meant to take away either’s individuality. Also, the union between man and woman in marriage is illustrated by the imagery of a man and woman in marriage becoming like one body joined in unity (see Eph. 5:25-31). Also, Scripture speaks of the Church in the same way (1 Cor. 12:12-26). All this means Brother is that just as with the Church, individual members join in to become unified in purpose with Christ’s body, just wives join in within their husband’s body in a unified purpose. That’s all. As far as Deuteronomy commanding against multiplying wives, that is only in reference to kings in 17:17. However, this does not mean Kings could not take on multiple wives altogether. For multiple does not mean the same thing as multiply. Just as a king could not acquire excessive horses, they were not permitted to take on excessive wives according this passage. As to the pattern of confusion found with men with multiple wives, I suggest it is you who should look closer, because the first sin, murder, lie, etc. came by way of families where men were monogamous. Go look at Adam, Cain, etc. In fact, most men in the Bible were monogamous and all have actually sinned. Therefore, it is a self defeating claim to suggest that monogamy has been any less confusing in this world. John Leslie, though Mike already replied to your comment, I wanted to share my thoughts with you as well, before I read what Mike replied, so that my comment was authentic. “Man shall leave his mother and father to cleave to his wife...” could simply imply cleaving to his FIRST wife. Most polygamous relationships at that time did not start with the man and all his wives at once. He acquired more over time. Then, Jesus saying that man and woman will become one does not dictate nor denote that there is any limitation to wives, and that the man in question cannot be one with each of his wives, so as to treat them quality both literally and in a spiritual sense. God never commends or opposes multiple wives because, as it appears currently, he felt no need to. That as long as the man, as instructed by the verses referenced, took care of each wife equally, and adhered to all of God’s other laws pertaining to marriage and courtship, he would not be displeasing the Lord.

Thanks for your comment! The answer to whether if church leaders are not to practice polygamy, according to 1 Timothy 3:2, 12 & Titus 1:6 is contained in my book, “Biblical Polygamy…,” on page 17-18. It reads, “It’s important to realize who the audience is when we read the Bible. This letter was written to a Greek congregation, at Ephesus. Note, the Greeks in the first century did not practice polygyny in public marriage. They may have participated in it with having secret harems and concubinage, but never in public marriage to claim Paul was somehow commanding against its practice with such an irrelevant audience. Also, the Greek word for “one” here is “mias” and is better translated as “first, in my opinion, so the passage should instead read like this, “the husband of the ‘first’ wife.” For such translation is consistent with Exodus 21:10-11 that communicates that if a man takes on an additional wife, the first is not to be diminished in exchange for a new. This is something the Greeks, on the other hand, did practice. For they commonly practiced swapping one wife for a new one. A version of monogamy that is so commonly practiced in western culture today. Another thing to consider is this very same phrase and word “mias” was also used by Paul in regards to women. Same wording but he was telling the widows there in 1 Timothy 5:9, “A widow should be enrolled if she is at least sixty years old, the wife of “the first man.” You see, Greek women didn’t practice polyandry, but many did divorce for any and every reason just as the men did. This is also why this was an issue amongst the Israelites while under Greco-Roman culture (Matthew 19:3). Frivolous divorce became a big issue in the first century, so Paul was likely instructing leaders to be a good example by not swapping wives. Hopefully, this helps although lengthy.

That’s one way to look at it, but if you were applying it as law it no where says he cannot also hold fast to a second wife or beyond, or that his ability to become one flesh with a wife is somehow limited to one… I’m not entirely certain on the matter, but I’m simply saying you can’t use just that verse as an end all be all end to the argument, from a legal perspective there is too much left unexplained.
Just because polygamy was described in the bible doesn’t mean it was deemed moral by God. The Bible is a historical document that denotes God’s word, the devil’s influence on His people, and historical accuracies in that area at that time. Just because it is denoted in the bible doesn’t mean it is promoted by the bible. Also God specifically commands “don’t multiply wives” in the Bible.
Thanks for your comment, but I don’t think you’re considering all of the Biblical facts in Scripture, because the Bible does a great deal more than just “describe polygamy.” First, it permits its; it regulates laws on how to practice it and assumes it as a normal viable practice (Exodus 21:7-11; Deuteronomy 21:15-17. Second, it praises God for using it to build Israel into a great nation (Ruth 4:11). And thirdly, It is certainly moral, because is the Blesser of it (2 Samuel 11:7-8; Genesis 33:1-5). Now as for “God specifically commanding, don’t multiply wives,” who was He talking to and why did He say this, is what we must consider? In Deuteronomy, God is talking to kings and not every male citizen in Israel, because the king bears the responsibility of being the first protector of a nation, and as the passage puts it in verse 17, “Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away...” See, the goal of this command is not to prevent him from having multiple wives at all but to limit him from excessively taking on many. A proof of this would be given the fact that in vs. 16-17, the king is not permitted multiply horses, amass greatly silver and gold in addition to not to multiply wives. However, in either instance, God was not commanding against kings from having multiple wives just as much as he was not to multiply horses and amass wealth. Why? Because God didn’t want the king’s heart to turn away from Him while leading His people. That’s all. Like with Solomon (1 Kings 11:1-4). Now another fact here is that it was common for kings to multiply by taking on many foreign wives back then, but God didn’t want any king in Israel to follow suit, so this is why He gave this command.

For example, if a child is conceived out of rape, does it make rape okay? Absolutely not. Is the child still a blessing and valuable to God and this world? Of course. @@avaorpilla I think you’re missing the point by equating a rape with what God had given, say David, in 2 Samuel 12. Note, God didn’t have to give David his first set of multiple wives in the first place. It was God who stated that he “gave him his master’s wives and if that had not been enough, He would have given him more.” None of which were given to David because of sin, because David committed adultery and murder after receiving the wives mentioned in 12:8 and not before. Proving that God would have given David more if he would just have asked, and there was no need for him to have taken another man’s wife. Then in Ruth 4:11, it is all of the people and elders at Bethlehem who said to Boaz that it was the Lord who built Israel into a great prosperous nation through Jacob’s two wives. It is clear. Just admit that you have trouble with accepting the fact that the Scriptures actually teach against what you’ve been falsely taught about polygamy. For in both passages, God is the Giver and Blesser of polygamy. Now could this be why Jesus described His Messianic ministry as Him being a Spiritual Polygamist in Matthew 25:1-13. The Bridegroom coming for His ten virgins. Thus, a Polygamist. as for time stamp 6:30, no- Moses did not imply that polygamy itself was moral or Godly. Rather, God opposes divorce. And in that time, women had no rights of their own and would be financially doomed if her husband left her, as she would be marked “sexually impure/dirty”. Therefore, this verse is not allowing polygamy. Rather it is saying that if a man decides to engage in it, whether it be right or wrong (it’s wrong), he still has the responsibility to love, respect, and provide for his first wife.
Actually, Moses was only quoting God in Exodus 21, because all of these judgments were being dictated by God in that chapter. In fact, it was God who was speaking here since He gave the 10 commandments in 20. Now He was speaking through Moses here in chapter 21, only because in 20:19, the people requested that Moses mediate between them and God. Now we know that it was moral, because instructions on how to practice it came from God, because it consisted of how people are to treat and function together as people in marital relation, monogamous or polygamous, which is the very definition of morality, btw. Then to support what I’m saying, even further, Jesus affirmed that what Moses wrote was a standard of righteousness, which means to morally do what God requires, according to Matthew 5:17-20. Thanks for the comment! Nevertheless, Forced Monogamous marriages and relationships end in ruins much more.... Look at the stats. Polygamous cultures actually have a low divorce rate while in western forced monogamous cultures divorce is at 70%.
@@digginintheword-withmikeallen thats because women in those countries don't have the same Wrights as we do in America. Most of those women will not survive without their husband. The divorce rate might be low but it doesn't mean the wives and children are happy.

However, we have to also consider beyond the idea of what we call ‘happy.’ There is no team situation where it is necessary for every individual to be happy at every given time. Why, because happiness of individuals should not trump the causes by the overall goal. Hence where the whole team wins. When the team becomes reduced to the need for individuals to be ‘happy first’ then the team becomes self defeating. Take for instance in basketball, it is not necessary for every team member to shine by shooting the ball all the time. Some are needed to defend more or to pass the ball or just run. While others need to get in the position to score. With the issue of women and children not having prominent roles in society, we need to look at which society drives humanity further along. Which make it safer for the overall team. Not that it is necessary for every individual is happy.
Also, is it truly good to have just women and children so called surviving without men, or isn’t it always better if they are a part of an overall family unit?

Although Joseph Smith and Muhammad each practiced and or taught polygyny, my doctrinal basis is upon the very Word of God. As for 1 Timothy 3, with proper contextualization, word study and parsing one should find that this letter was written to a predominantly Greek congregation and culture where prescriptive monogamy was the norm. The Greeks then looked upon polygyny as being taboo. Also, in vs 2, the word ‘one,’ which is translated from the Greek word ‘mias,’ is better translated as - first. Thus, when Paul refers to men desiring to be a Bishop, he is simply saying, ‘they must only be of the first wife.’ In other words, they were not to be into swapping their first wife for another, which was a common practice among the Greeks and Romans within the first century. A man would often abandon his current wife to marry another. A treacherous practice God spoke against in Malachi 2:10-18; also in Exodus 21:7-11. Even Jesus spoke against wife swapping in Matthew 19:9. As you see, God has no problem with a man taking on another wife in Exodus 21:10. He just is against wife swapping. As far as Hebrews 13:4 is concerned, polygyny could not be defiled based on this verse, because neither is it the act of fornication nor adultery. Fornication, biblically, is to have sex with prostitutes, according to 1 Corinthians 6:12-20. While adultery is when a man has sex with another man’s wife, Deuteronomy 22:22; Leviticus 20:10. Plus, adultery is punishable by death. With that being the case, men like Abraham, Moses, Jacob, Gideon, Elkanah; David, etc. should’ve all been stoned to death, because they all had multiple wives. Why it was God Himself who told David that He gave David all his 7-8 wives, at the time, in 2 Samuel 12:7-8. Nevertheless, these were all of great anointed holy men who even wrote Scripture. +PrettyBrown 856 How is God against Abraham having more than one wife when it was God Who commanded Abraham’s 2nd wife to go back to her polygamous home and submit in Genesis 16:9? If God is against it, then why did He give David his multiple wives in 2 Sam. 12:7-8? Abraham was not told that he would have a son specifically through Sarah in Gen. 17 until after he took on his 2nd wife in Gen. 16. Although he was told he would have an heir he was never told it would come through Sarah until after the fact, so in Romans 4, when it says that Abraham believed God and staggered not according to the promise, that means he did trust and believe. As far as morals is concerned, Abraham did nothing immoral because there is no commandment against polygyny. Plus it was his woman who suggested and gave her handmaid to her husband in Gen. 16, because women in her day were not riddled with fear as many who claim to believe in God hear in the west, see 1 Pet. 3:5-6.
Back then people were pure until destruction accurd and because of all the sexual immorality God changed it to one husband and one wife. Like it was ORIGINALLY.

Matthew 19 is about Jesus’ being challenged about what his position on divorce is and polygamy. Divorce is about subtracting a wife, while polygamy is to add wives.
So let me get you straight, are you seriously equating a woman falsely attempting to preach with God Himself allowing and giving regulations for men to continue to practice polygamy in Exod. 21:7-11 & Deut. 21:15-17? Are you seriously saying that Scripture doesn’t back a man desiring and having multiple women when it was God Himself Who gave David the first 16 wives he had and was willing to give David more in 2 Sam. 12:7-8? Are you serious saying that Scripture doesn’t back up polygamy when God Himself spoke of His Relationship with Israel and Judah as He Himself having two wives in Jer. 3:1-8, showing that His Relationship with His people mirrors the relationship He permits men to have with plural women?
+@navyglass1242 1 Cor. 7:2 is explained by the fact that western translations tend to conceal lawful Biblical polygyny. In this verse, the words his own and her own are two distinct Greek words that denotes she has a shared ownership while he has an exclusive ownership over her which is not shared with anyone else. Matt. 19:4-5 is based on the context of verses 3. The Pharisees were seeking to test and entrap Yeshua on His doctrine, so they initiated this conversation in the context of “a man putting away his wife for any and every reason.” However, Yeshua pointed her that a man putting away his woman on such basis does not coincide with the reason marriage is created. Unity not separation. Therefore, based on the context, these verses has absolutely nothing to do with polygamy vs. monogamy. Only divorcing improperly. And in 1 Tim. 3:2, this is yet another translation bias made by Christianity. The historical context of when Paul wrote demonstrates that “a Bishop must be the husband of one wife” should be otherwise transliterated with either “a” or “first” instead of the word “one” here. You see, the instructions for the Greek congregation Paul was writing to Timothy here about didn’t even practice polygamy in public marriage. Neither the Greeks nor the Romans did so, because they had laws against and this was their religious practice of not marrying multiple women at the same time. The translators used the word “one” because Greco-Roman bias when Catholic conditioning in the 16th century was to prescribe monogamy only.
True, there’s not many believers who either grasp or accept this Biblical lifestyle. That is the challenge! Now I’m not sure if you would consider yourself a Hebrew or a Christian. Studies say that women aren't as happy in polygamous marriages as in monogamous marriages. This shows me, that being monogamous is better, even if it may be allowed.

Case studies have proven over and over again that the negative impacts polygamy on both individuals and society are profound. Women and children being the ones who suffer most.

@@Dondeez these are excellent questions! Most certainly, the Word to me is infallible which is why I do not challenge any practice contained within it. Particularly, any sanctioned, prescribed or permitted by God, which is why Paul taught believers in Romans 15:4, “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” We learn its lessons and put into practice to become and live more like Christ. Now although I do recognize that Scripture must be taken and understood within its intended specific context, I also see that there are principles that are timeless and transcend all cultural barriers. For instance, although western culture, today, so called, “loathes the practice,” slavery is yet practiced under certain circumstances. Like when it comes prison today, most believers take no issue with either enforcing inmates to work for ‘pennies on a dollar,’ or for free, ie. a modern day form of slavery which was also practiced within Bible days (Luke 12:57-59; Matthew 18:21-25). Most take no issue today with an enforced child support system where a ‘dead beat’ is forced to go to work to pay into his or her parental responsibilities. In other words, what I’m saying here is that although many may find slavery reprehensible, under certain situations, it is otherwise accepted. Now as for slavery practiced in Biblical times, there were different ways one could be enslaved, via through war, debt, crime, etc., nevertheless it was a system which had the very principles found and acceptable today. Therefore, although I do consider context as part of my process of hermeneutics, I do believe Scripture as being right on all levels. You see, it is the churches duty to shape the world and society today, and not the other way around. For Christ’s body is “the pillar of truth” in a dying world (1 Tim. 3:15; Matt. 5:13-16; 16:18-19; 1 John 2:15-17). Therefore, it should never conform to the patterns of the world (Romans 12:1-2; Eph. 4:17-24; 5:1-2) but only the image of God. I don’t care what cultural change society may make, the believer must never waiver.

OK, so did God make a mistake giving Adam one wife. The thing people are missing is that men instituted polygamy, not God. Just because something is allowed for a time doesn't mean it's approved. There are scriptures in the old Testament proving God did not institute polygamy. Read Deuteronomy 17:17. Even those marriages back then were problematic spiritually and emotionally. Usually the man is going to be in love with one woman more than the other(s). Read about Leah and Rachel, Hannah and Penninah. And King Solomon's wives turned him away from serving the true to go pagan worship.

That’s why we can say that He surely didn’t make mistakes when He told David that “it was He (God) Who gave him the 8 wives he did” when he (David) committed adultery by sleeping with another man’s wife. On your statement that men instituted polygamy, you gotta remember that it was Yah Himself Who commanded men to be fruitful and to multiply, and it is in polygamy alone where that can be most effectively done. One woman bearing a man one child at a time is only simple addition. However, having 3 wives giving birth around the same time, now that is multiplication. Yah didn’t just allow polygamy for a time, Dear: He commanded it when He told Hagar to go back to her polygamist household in Genesis 16. He caused it as Jacob said that His children was given to Him through Rachel and Leah and their hand maids. Through which, Yah was the one Who opened and closed each of their womb’s respectively as He determined in Genesis 30:1-24; 33:1-7. Yah chose to build the nation of Israel through Rachel and Leah, Jacob’s two wives and their bond servants, according to those in Israel in Ruth 4:11. Again, it was Yah Who blessed David with His many wives and would have given him more if he’d only ask and not steal from another man in 2 Samuel 12:7-8. Also, God depicted Himself as being the Husband of two wives in Jer. 3 and Ezek. 23. Also Jesus depicted Himself as a Husband coming back for 10 virgins. Showing that God is not against the concept, but that it only reflects His relationship with His people, Eph. 5:28-30. Deuteronomy 17:17, is not a prohibition against polygamy but against a king in Israel marrying excessive wives to build alliances with foreign nations. Note the context, beginning in vs. 14 on in 17 is not just about multiplying (which is to increase excessively in Hebrew) women, it is also about not multiplying horses, pieces of silver or gold. Now, is Yah really say that a king couldn’t be rich or have a lot of horses? No, He’s talking about excess. He wants Israel’s king to trust in Him alone and not in resources. Resources that would include marrying pagan wives to make the nation stronger. Talk about problematic, there is nothing more so in humanity like how all the sin in the world today began with a monogamous household (Adam and Eve): the first sin, murder, fear, doubt, lie, death, etc. Solomon’s wives turned him, not because they were plenty, but because they were foreign idolaters. However, David on the other hand had many wives, but his heart didn’t get turned. Go check out 1 Kings 11:1-6.

But his son Jesus at Matthew 19:3-9 Jesus say the "two shall become one flesh", not three. Also, The Apostle Paul at 1Corinthians 7 says that each should have his own WIFE. (not wives). If you read each account in the bible where there were polygamous unions, there was ALWAYS A PROBLEM: Abraham, Sarah and Hagar: Jacob, Rachel and Leah: Elkanah, Hannah and Penninah. These things were written for our instruction states Romans 15:4. I've found too many scriptures in the bible that does NOT agree with polygamy. Now, you men can try and spin this polygamy thing as a way of trying to get more $ex from more women all you want, but good luck with that, because there's a growing number of women these days opting out of marriage and childbirth. With that, I don't know easy it will be to find one, let alone three. Y'all ain't supermen. God knows better than any human states Isaiah 55:8-9.
Polygyny is in the scriptures but there's no law for it, only a law against it. Husbands should have one wife, that was the whole point of marriage in the beginning..

In Exodus 21:1-11, God commands Israel’s leadership, which is headed by Moses in how they were to decide in matters concerning those who had slaves and those who decided to take on additional wives. The Hebrew word for this is found in vs. 1, that is the word - mishpat: which means - judgment or ordinance, so God Himself commanded Moses in how specifically he was to decide in what God considered appropriate moral treatment here for a women and a man if the man decided to take on additional wives those he may decide to acquire as a slave. This word means a decision of the שֹׁפֵט in a case of law... in other words, these gave commanded guidelines for how leaders were to rule as well as what rights God gave to men and women in these legal contracts presented in a civil dispute. Therefore, God did give commandments on how polygyny was to be lawfully practiced within Israel by way of mishpat. Also, this word in context showed that polygyny was an implied contract governed under a decision of ordinance/judgment. Now an example of this would be like a contract formed today by sitting down in a restaurant and placing an order, a customer is thus agreeing to the implied laws of purchasing a meal, so when a man decided in Exodus 21 to take on an additional wife or to buy a slave, these were implied contractural laws in Israel they were then subject to. Making now there being laws God instituted for the practice of polygyny.

I respectfully disagree. How come God never punish or rebuke any of the man of God in the old testament for having many wives?I think God leave that choice for a man to make on their own
Thank you for your comment! Actually the Bible does speak of one ‘taking on another’ as a wife, which is to take on multiple wives (Exodus 21:10). In other words, multiple wives is the same thing as having multiple marriages. However the word polygyny is only the Greek synonym for multiple marriage. Why do you then take issue with the word polygyny?
The Bible clearly states one man for one woman period! David had many wives but his household was in disarray also with Abraham! Come on people stop being blinded! Study your Bible with understanding

Although you implied that David’s house was in disarray, since he had many wives, then based on your logic, would you also say that not only was David was “blinded,” God was as well? Take it is, God did say that, “It was He Who gave David his many wives,” according to 2 Samuel 12:7-8. Additionally, based on your reasoning, would you also say that Jacob, The Elders of Israel in Ruth’s day and including God was somehow “blinded,” because it was God Himself choose to “bless Jacob with the 4 wives he had, through which He built and prospered Israel into a great nation,” according to Genesis 33:1-7 & Ruth 4:11?

@@22jaydogg whether prescribed or described, if it came from God, what is the problem Brother? 2 Samuel 12:7-8 is more than God describing and telling David what He possessed (the wives of Saul). The passage communicates that “God provided David these multiple wives,” and if David wanted more, God said that, “He would have given them to him.” So God here is more than a descriptive narrator, He is the actual Provider, the Blesser, the Source of polygamy. Also, this is the same thing we see with Jacob in the Genesis 33:1-7 and in Ruth 4:11. God gave Jacob his 4 wives to create the Great Nation of Israel. The problem Brother is that the western church has prescribed against polygamy, but Scripture says otherwise. This is how one like yourself can read these passages and not see the very hand of God in polygamy. And in speaking of prescription, wasn’t it not God, in the person of Jesus Who prescribed/commanded that Hagar go back and submit to her polygamist family make up in Genesis 16:1-10. Then what about Esther, did not Mordecai tell her she was obligated as Queen/co-polygamist wife to help save God’s people by risking her life by going before the king, even when it was unlawful in Esther 4. Now we know for sure that she was a practicing polygamous wife in how she became Queen, in the first place, in Esther 2:1-18. Nevertheless, she was put in that position by God to save her people. Finally, there were over 40 men confirmed who practiced polygamy in the Bible, but there is only 1 man (Uriah the Hittite) is confirmed as a monogamous man. All others you think of are only assumed as having only one wife. Also, it was those mostly assumed monogamous households like with Adam, Isaac, etc, we see so much sin and dysfunction caused in the world up until today. Through Adam there was the first sin, deception, fear, murder, etc. Through Isaac, we see the ongoing generational wars and conflicts between Jacob and Esau.
@@22jaydogg Deuteronomy 17 must be interpreted within its intended context. The context from vs. 14-20 is that God, true, did not want there to be a king, but Himself. However, His king for His people had to not to allow himself to be enslaved by Egypt again or be dependent upon material things, like silver, gold or horses for building big armies. Egypt was the main merchant of horses back then. He also did not want him making alliances with other nations by multiplying wives. This was what pagan kings did back then for political and military strength. However, God did not want His king to go that route. Instead, He wanted Israel’s king to be totally dependent upon Him, so saying that God didn’t want His king to have more than one wife would be to say that He didn’t want him to have more than one horse, piece of silver or gold. That would be a stretch. Look at the context.
Everytine discernment is given for marriage, it os monogamous. Marriage was created as monogamous. It is prohibited in the NT. It always caused friction when practiced in the OT. It was a temporary fix for accountability, just like ethics in slavery. Treating them as family and not placing them out in a world the could not adapt to. It was also a temporary means of focused evangelism. We were born free in the garden of Eden and not as slaves. God intends for neither crimes against humanity and adultery. Thatvis of Sodom.

Or did God not make a way which was spelled out in the Old Testament as well as He did in the New Testament? Which one is it? Is there a way for those of Old or not? Please tell me?
Also, as Jesus asked the woman at the well, “Where is your husband?” You say I take comfort in the OT, but even the NT you seem to take comfort in does not permit a woman to “Teach or take authority over a man.” (1 Tim. 2:11-14). Once again, “Where is your husband?” Why do you not allow a covering to speak for you? (1 Corinthians 11:8-10) Have you no shame?
He tells David that he would have given him more wives to say that him having more wives would have been a better choice that him killing a man just to cover up the fact that he committed adultery. Not that he wants him to be polygynous. Furthermore, the Bible says that if a man were to have more than one wife he must love and treat them equally. Yet time and time again it’s proven even throughout the Bible that it is impossible for a man to love and treat his wives equally. Therefore. Polygyny IS a sin.

Why not just tell him polygyny is wrong just as He told him that adultery and murder was wrong in this same chapter? @@digginintheword-withmikeallen Ephesians 5:25 Ephesians 5:33 Exodus 21:10 You have to give them both food shelter and marital rights. It’s impossible for a man to do no matter how he things he can. Especially for the duration of his life. No man, even if he tried can keep up with providing all of these things rarely to even 1 woman let alone 2. It’s why even women look to have multiple partners. Which. If we are going to take the route that you are taking. The Bible never explicitly says that a woman cannot have multiple husbands.. It says that she can’t commit adultery by having sex with a man that isn’t her husband. But if they are married it’s not adultery! Therefore she can marry as many men as she wants as long as they are married she’s fine! But, we do have a verse 1 Corinthians 7 Stating that each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The wife’s body doesn’t belong to her but to her husband and the husbands body doesn’t belong to him but to his wife! Duet: 17:17 explicitly states that kings should not multiply wives. So yes both Solomon and king David were living in sin based off that scripture alone! So the fact that you’re using God said he’d give him more.. as god condoning polygyny. Says that you’ve missed the bigger picture in that scripture. I’d like to also mention that king David and Solomon did not go unpunished for their polygamous ways. Their hearts did turn away from god and the foundation of their families weakened If they only had one wife and children with that one wife. There would be less of a rivalry for the throne. Family members would be more secure. They would have to worry about sons from other wives raping sisters from other wives because this is the reality of it. These things did happen and often. Let’s deal with reality. Because I’ve already seen 5 families practice polygyny since this whole “god doesn’t condemn polygyny” fad has been on the rise. at first they were married monogamous. And now none of them are married at all. In reality. Polygamy breeds rivalry and jealousy. Against wives and siblings. So much so that siblings killed other siblings for inheritance. Wives killed other wives and children of other wives for the same reason. It’s also the same thing that happens this day in age. Not to mention the witch craft that wives do to other wives and their children. These are all real things and things that happen all the time in these situations. No matter how you cut it. Polygyny ends in disaster. Even in my talks with people from Africa. A man marries a second wife often times then not he forgets about the first one and leaves her children to take care of her. This is the reality of it. But it happens. So in order to have some sort of remedy. TMH made laws as to not harm those involved in such a horrendous placement.
There is nowhere in the Bible where wife is used in a plural state. Yes some great men in the Bible had multiple wives so let’s look into that. Polygamy led to the fall of David as his children participated in incest and eventually all were slain except for Solomon because he was raised by Nathan the prophet. I just saw a video where a pastor referenced Deut. 17:17 “Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself.” (NKJV). So is this LAW and if so, does that mean polygyny is frowned upon by G*d? Another statement he made was “everything that was DEscribed in the Bible is not PREscribed to G*d’s people.” What’s your thoughts on that statement as well?
Good questions Brother! Pastors use this passage and the ‘not prescribed’ argument out of plain ole desperation and misinterpretation. The context of Deuteronomy 17:17 is about greatly increasing and not somehow a strike against polygyny. If a king couldn’t have more than one woman, then according to the context, he couldn’t have more than one piece of silver, gold or horse either. For that would mean that Yahweh Himself had violated this law when He told Solomon that He would make him rich in money and also gave him have many horses in 1 Kings 3:10-13; 2 Chron. 9:25. Another passage to show that Yahweh was not against polygyny is in 2 Chron. 24:1-3, that shows He was pleased with King Joash taking on 2 wives. In this passage, even the priest in Israel, Jehoiada, was the one who took part in approving and supplying multiple wives for this young king. On the ‘not prescribed’ argument, 2 Tim. 3:16 lets us know that there is a prescriptive principle in “All Scripture and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness…”
I myself don't believe that's a God ordained way of marriage because the Bible speaks of a sacred covenant. If you are LIVING the word of God wholeheartedly then do the WILL of the Father. I would rather have one husband, knowing that God created Adams and Eve, not Adam and Eve, Sarah, Tameka, Melissa and Bonita! Often these things are because the man needs that pleasure and doesn't have his body under subjection to God thus POLYGAMY, POLYGYNY and every other thing happening with the flesh!! My dear sister, thank you for your comment! However, the Roman Catholic Church and Protestant churches have lied to us. They have changed translations and have preached a gospel that is not rooted in truth. The idea of a man only having one wife only comes from Greco, Roman paganism, and not God. If God never a deemed Polygymy/Polygymy a viable lifestyle, then why would He ordain it for David with the “multiple wives, He said he gave to him and if that had not been enough, he would’ve given him more” in 2 Samuel 12:7-8. Also, the nation of Israel understood that it was God Who ordained it by giving Jacob, Rachel and Leah to be his wives, according to Ruth 4:11. The problem my sister is you have been shaped by a Western understanding and not one according to the book which is Eastern. Of course you’re not going to like it, but because we don’t like always what God gives us does not mean it is not from him, Even Jesus did not like the idea of going to the cross, but said, “nevertheless, not my will, but let your will be done.” In this life, we will suffer in this life. We must bear out on cross, which means that we will often times have to accept that his ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts and certainly your thoughts going against polygamy is not his, because this is the reason why H Himself also says in Jeremiah 23 excuse me, Jeremiah 3 and Ezekiel 23 that He is the husband of both Judah and, Israel depicting himself as being a polygamist. The problem is a lack of knowledge and not polygamy. Frankly, you would not because you do not except all of scripture.
@digginintheword-withmikeallen I can see that a lot of things were misconstrued but my life will continuously be held as a woman of God, and doing the will of the Father! So you have one group saying it's ok for both men and women to have multiple people, polygamy, then another group saying it's only ok for men to have multiple wives thus polygyny exist! It's a real ball of confusion but as I stated, I don't believe in it and will follow the Lord as I have tried to do, even with flaws my heart is His!!

If God doesn’t support polygyny, then why tell the men of Israel that it was okay for them to take on additional wives in Exodus 21:10, saying, “10 If he takes another wife, he must not reduce the food, clothing, or marital rights of his first wife.” Also, why tell King David that He would support him with more wives in addition to what he already had If he desired more in 2 Samuel 12:8, when He said to him, “8 I gave your master’s house to you and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah, and if that was not enough, I would have given you even more.”
Genesis 2:24 is not about two individuals becoming only one individual as much as it refers to two individuals becoming one in bond and unity. This same principle is found in the one body of Christ having many members found in Romans 12:4-5.
As for Deuteronomy 17:17, the idea of a king multiplying wives is equivalent in principle as him multiplying horses, silver and gold. The idea is about excess, not multiple. If a king then can’t have multiple wives, he can’t have multiple horses or gold and silver coins. Ludicrous!
1 Timothy 3:2, is written concerning structuring a Greek congregation at Ephesus. Historically, the Greeks didn’t practice polygamy in public marriage. Therefore, Paul wasn’t addressing polygyny in this verse. Instead, he was addressing the idea of swapping wives. You see, Greeks didn’t practice monogamy like the Hebrews did. Instead, they would just leave one wife for another. Now this was a direct violation of Exodus 21:10, in that a man couldn’t be moral if he was not loyal to his first wife. The word ‘one’ in 1 Tim 3:2 is the word mias, which is more properly translated ‘first’ rather than one. If a man desires to be a Bishop, he must still be the husband of his first wife. That’s all.
On Malachi 2:16, God not only didn’t get in the way of divorce, He even command a mass divorce in Ezra 10. He permitted it in Deuteronomy 24:1-4. Then He also engaged in it in Jeremiah 3. Nevertheless, when it comes to Malachi 2:16, it’s not that God dislikes divorce, he hates when it’s done treacherously in this passage.

I mean Matthew 5:28 also says this: "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." Now I guess you could say that only applies to married women, but I don't know if this is as clear as you made it out to be. We also know that having too many wives could lead to a mess. Did not Jesus already answer this very same question you ask about when in the verses prior, in Matt. 5:17-20, He established that whatever the law says or teaches to those listening to Him that day who were all listening to the very same sermon (the famous sermon on the mount) in verses 27-30. Now what Jesus was teaching was nothing different than from what Moses taught in the law. In Matthew 5, He was only expounding upon it further to show how far it reaches. Therefore, His view on marriage was always in line with Moses. He was teaching that the law truly taught that the guilt of a man and penetrated even his heart, prior to him physically carrying out any sin when He said, “Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Okay now since we’ve established that point, let’s now look into what Moses said what lust is to prove even further what Jesus meant that day. Three commandments after the seventh (You shall not commit adultery), Moses wrote the tenth in vs 17, saying, “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.” Notice here covetousness, which is the same NT term known as lust, has to do with looking onto whatever belongs to your neighbor’s possessions and desiring it for yourself, so what difference is there, Virtuousyc, from what Jesus was talking about concerning adultery in Matthew? Coveting/lusting has always been about desiring that which belongs to someone else, so why does this term now get changed all of a sudden when we get to the NT, or modern thinking? Think about it, Jesus was an Israelite teaching other Israelites the full extent of what Israelite doctrine has already always meant. That’s all. So now, what does this same doctrine/teaching/body of law of Moses, Jesus is teaching on in Matt. 5, has to say concerning looking at the beauty of and desiring a woman who is not spoken for in Scripture? Well in Deuteronomy 21:10-14, it reads, “10 When you go out to war against your enemies, and the Lord your God delivers them into your hand, and you take them captive, 11 and you see among the captives a beautiful woman, and desire her and would take her for your wife, 12 then you shall bring her home to your house, and she shall shave her head and trim her nails. 13 She shall put off the clothes of her captivity, remain in your house, and mourn her father and her mother a full month; after that you may go in to her and be her husband, and she shall be your wife. 14 And it shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall set her free, but you certainly shall not sell her for money; you shall not treat her brutally, because you have humbled her.” You see, in this example, a man can look at a woman who is single, desire her beauty, want her for himself, make her his wife and this not be considered the coveting/lusting on his part that Jesus was teaching against. Remember, even God Himself brought single Eve unto Adam so he would desire for himself what he seen, did He not? For there is nothing wrong with desiring a woman for oneself, providing she does not already belong to someone else. I mean, I think one need not ask Jesus about this one here, because He has already made it clear that His teachings are only aligned with Moses’ on what lust is. Hopefully, I make myself clear here!

I mean it's an interesting topic but we already face so many problems in this corrupt world, I'm pretty sure most men won't even get to consider this part in their lifetime. The men who had polygenous relationships were usually wealthy or kings. I think one should earnestly consider becoming a solid provider before moving on and that's impossible for most people when trying to maintain a completely clean "Christian lifestyle". I think the quote from Deuteronomy can be viewed in a different context. God basically assigned Israel to cleanse pagan tribes and usually, they would fight against their men. Of course, their women could be spared but the timeline and circumstance are extremely different compared to today. The way you describe "lust" is interesting. So if I understand correctly, it's more of an action than just a thought? I think lust can already be a thought. Men can lust after women without even touching her. And now I'm honestly curious what you think about watching porn or maybe just looking at naked women? Is that not also a sin? Sometimes we can look at the fruit of said issue and I think it becomes pretty clear that it causes more harm to have many women fight over one man. Or other men becoming jealous over the many women. Shouldn't the birthrate of women be higher if you think every man should have more than one wife? And if that's not the case, how do you think men are proven worthy to obtain more wives? To your point that “most men are not able to or won’t engage in polygyny due to not being wealthy nor are kings today and that it would somehow cause even more problems in the world,” I say to the contrary. Polygyny would not only stimulate the financial inadequacies most men face, it will also be a viable solution to the simping and cuckolding that’s going on. I mean, not only has God cursed man with having to work hard, “by the sweat of his brow,” but there are also false religions, political policies and cultural barriers since then that impede men from exercising the dominion He intended over women in Genesis 1:28, 3:16 and in Ephesians 5:22-24. An example of this is first seen in Scripture where the Egyptians used economic warfare against Israel to enslave, enforce population control by killing their newborn males. Now why did they do this? Because Israel only grew exponentially, due to their population growth while in Egypt (see Exodus 1). Obviously they saw Israel’s growth as a legitimate threat. For it has been pointed out that the Israelites actually practiced polygyny while in Egyptian bondage. This can be proven by looking at Numbers 2:32 & 3:42-43 where there were 603,550 men that came out of Egypt in the Exodus, which included 22,273 first born males. Now if we divide that first born males figure into the total male population, that equates that there were an average 27 males per household. And if these households represented, say, about the same amount of females born into them as males, then that equates to a whopping 54 children per home. Now that gives us a lot to consider! Virtuousyc, what I’m pointing out here is that there would likely have been at least 5-10 wives to each family man coming out of bondage. And also remember, there was an extreme shortage of Israelite men to women from Moses’ generation, up until this point, because of the extinction of Hebrew male babies. Not only was polygyny a recipe for extreme population growth even in the state of slavery, it remedied the shortage of men to women gap that existed. Think about it. Even here in the US, if a man, say, makes $100k a year and has 3 wives, each making the same, his household income would then be at $400k. Now how much can be done in the right economy with that amount per household? So then it is also not true that a man has to be a king or wealthy to be a polygynist today. He just needs the potential to provide, which is why marriage is an economy in itself. Another reason conquering nations seek to first disrupt the normal relationship between men in women upon wherever they conquer. Which is also what took place during the Trans-Atlantic Slave-trade. Men and women were captured and quickly separated to prevent any uprisings, revolts and escapes in the dungeons and on the merchant ships. On the quote from Deuteronomy 21, your point is taken, but be sure to not miss, and I cannot over emphasize, the fact that the men back then were being permitted in vs. 11 & 12 by God, saying, “(When)….you see among the captives a beautiful woman, and desire her and would take her for your wife, then you shall bring her home to your house….” The whole idea here is that God takes no issue with a man desiring the “beauty” of a single woman. On my description of lust, I am in total agreement with you that it is more of a thought than an outward action. That’s why I would say that porn is certainly a sin. A man can look upon a woman and yet innocently admire her beauty without ever lusting her in a sexual way. Something porn otherwise promotes, which is the fantasizing of a woman in a sexual way. Plus sex between partners is not intended by God to be openly on display, which is what Paul calls orgies in Galatians 5:21. Also, there’s inappropriate acts that are done in porn that are defiling. On jealousy, remember Paul also listed it among the works of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21. Therefore a true believer should not be under the operation and control of ungodly jealousy. A jealousy that is always in contradiction to truth. On the birth rate, almost every nation in the world women out populate men. Go check it out. Which is why prescriptive monogamy mathematically works against many women. For in it, where a man can only have one woman at a time, what happens if all the men are taken? There’ll be many women that’ll never get the chance to be taken off the market. On men proven worthy, here in within a prescriptive monogamy context, men by default are not encouraged to become better quality men, because it sells the idea that a man can only have one at a time. With such a system, men are then encouraged to be womanizers and exploit women for sex, because commitment comes at a very high price with divorce, and a legal system that tends to favor women. Therefore, men elect to opt out of commitment and just play the field. However, God does not want us to fight over women. Only to become better men, which is why polygyny rewards women with better quality of men. I know this was long winded, which only means I am enjoying the exchange!

What does the word multiply in this passage mean is what you must answer in order to properly interpret itself. For the word multiply here not only refers to wives, it is also used in reference to silver and gold also, so if it happens to mean that a king couldn’t add more wives at all, then that would mean he couldn’t add to his money.
It means exactly how it sounds. Don't multiply your wives or riches. Riches it specifically says greatly not that you can't at all. It's a warning against greed. The bible describes many examples of polygamy threw out it's texts. However that doesn't mean God was fine with it. In almost every example I can think of there was always consequences that came from it happening. There are other verses that specify one man and one woman. I can post more if you like.

The word multiply in Hebrew here means - to be or become much, many or great, according to Strong’s. In other words, Moses was not saying that a king could not have more than one wife, at all. No he was saying that he could not have an excessive amount of wives. As far as there being negative examples, you say, surrounding polygyny, please send me at least one and do explain how it somehow shows that polygyny is wrong. Also, the fact that you have to try to now prove something’s wrong with polygyny, aside from Deuteronomy 17:17, shows that you’re “reaching.” You’re reaching here, because the Bible is not against polygyny. It is rather that you have been taught by Greek, Roman Catholic and Protestant cultures to reject it. None of the prophets or apostles ever spoke against it. If they did, please show chapter and verse.

Esau married two women and they made problems for Isaac and Rebekah. Jacob's polygamy led to events that eventually ended up in the enslavement of Israel. David had multiple wives which never seemed to satisfy him so he set up events to kill another man to take his wife. All these men are good examples of faith but not morality. Now you are free to say I'm reaching with these verses but I am just giving you examples of where the text tells you one man and one wife. Deuteronomy's was mainly directed at the king because mainly only rulers could fund more than one wife. Scholars have been debating the translation and meaning for a long time and still will. I am just simply providing the examples.

You are defending a position with arguments that do not aline with Biblical truth. On 1 Timothy 3:12, it is likely mistranslated in our English translations. For it was translated during the time near the Council of Trent in 1563 when the Catholic Church imposed its doctrines on marriage that are not consistent with what was already revealed Scripture. They did this because they considered the pope and the college of bishops as being on par with creating or being able to add to Scripture. However, the word Paul used that mistranslated as the word “one” in verse 12 of 1 Timothy 3 was the Greek word “mias,” which primarily means “first,” in most passages. Now another word for “one” in 1st century Greek is “heis.” However, he did not use the word “heis” which would’ve better conveyed the meaning that a Deacon only one wife, instead he used “mias” which is more likely means that some Deacons had multiple wives back then. Meaning, being faithful to their “first” wife implies that some Deacons had more than “one.” Now could this be why the NIV and NLT each translated this phrase, saying, “A deacon must be faithful to his wife.” Also, there are several more reasons to believe he was conveying the meaning of a Deacon being “faithful to his first wife” rather than saying, he was to “only have one wife.” First, it is the fact that Paul wrote this letter concerning putting non-Hebrew Greeks into leadership in the church at Ephesus, and if you know anything about Greek history, you would know that the Greeks did not practice polygamy, in public marriage, so to presume that Paul was somehow forbidding a practice and lifestyle they did not live then, in the first place, that would be irrelevant to his audience. Second, it is more likely Paul agreed more with Moses and God than with the papacy. For Moses wrote that God commanded in Exodus 21:10-11 that a man could have an additional wife as long as he faithfully provided for his “first” wife as well. In other words, Brother, God has always been okay with a man having multiple wives as long as he remains faithful to each of them. For this is a why God said to David that “He (God) gave David his multiple wives” in 2 Samuel 12:7-8, “and if that was not enough, He (God) would have given David more.” Therefore, in David’s case, there was no need for him to take another man’s wife and then kill him. And third, now before you begin to think that Moses was in the Old Testament, while Paul was in the New and was somehow speaking a doctrine that was different from that of the Old Testament, check out this. Jesus said that He did not come to change the law, but to fulfill it in Matt. 5:17-20. Paul also taught in Romans 3:31 that as New Testament believers, we too are not to change the law, but to fulfill it, which simply means to do what it says. Furthermore Paul also taught that the lifestyles of those in the Old Testament was written so that we can learn from it and have hope, which would include a lifestyle of Polygamy among everything else in Romans 15:4. Therefore, 1 Timothy 3:12 in no way is a doctrine against polygamy but rather an agreement that its lifestyle continued within the NT. On Genesis 2:24, there are two words you may be misinterpreting. They are the words “cling” and “one.” To “cling” is to cleave or keep close. Meaning, a man who marries must “keep his wife close,” which says nothing against polygamy, because remember, polygamy is about adding wives, not putting them away. Now as for the word “one,” a better understanding of this word is to know that in the Hebrew, it is the word “echad,” which is an adjective. A word that is descriptive rather than a word that is a noun (flesh). For it describes what man and woman becomes when they “echad” with one another. They become united. Not that they somehow become no longer 2 individuals. Instead, they become 2 individuals who become “one (united)” in one purposed life, together. Now we know this because Paul interpreted this same passage as two people becoming united as “one” when they have sex. For sex is intended to complete a union whereby 2 individuals should be on the same path together (Amos 3:3). A principle seen even in the sexual intercourse with a prostitute, in 1 Corinthians 6:15-17, Paul said creates such oneness (unity). As for your examples: On Esau, in what verse do you get that Esau made problems for his parents, and was his problem due to polygamy or was it due to the type of women he married (Genesis 28:6-9)? On Jacob’s polygamy, you say it led to Israel’s enslavement, but in Exodus 1:1-14, Israel was forced into slavery out of being blessed and fulfilling God’s command to mankind given in Genesis 1:28. For they were feared and despised for only being obedient and prospering. On David, according to God Himself, the issue with him was not that the wives he had were not enough, because God said it Himself, “if that wasn’t enough that he would have given David more,” because God was the giver of David’s polygamy, 2 Samuel 12:7-8. However, David’s issue was desiring and taking another man’s wife. Now “all of these could not have been good examples of Faith,” as you say, if they were “morally wrong” at the same time, because James taught that true faith produces good (moral) works, for without them, faith is dead (James 2:8-17). Now unlike yourself, Jacob, God and the elders in Jerusalem all thought that polygamy made Israel into a great nation and blessed (Genesis 33:1-7; Ruth 4:11). Any problems you see with polygamous families, in Scripture, happened much more in monogamous families. I mean, if you just consider the first family which was monogamous, they were the first cause of all sin, deception, fear, envy, murder and idolatry in the world. For it was a monogamous family make that led to all the ills we see today. On Deuteronomy 17, this passage is more than just mainly about kings, it specifically speaks concerning kings, because God wanted kings to only trust in Him and not trade Egypt for horses to build armies, trust in riches and not make ungodly alliances with pagan nations by marrying their daughters. For that is the historical custom and context of Deuteronomy 17:14-20.

Everytine discernment is given for marriage, it os monogamous. Marriage was created as monogamous. It is prohibited in the NT. It always caused friction when practiced in the OT. It was a temporary fix for accountability, just like ethics in slavery. Treating them as family and not placing them out in a world the could not adapt to. @Isaiah Rey I'm not going to entertain your tangents. Adam had one wife and Eve had one husband. Follow Seth's lineage and then follow Cain's. Polygamy began as a deviation by a man who had killed someone. The first recorded polygamist in Scripture is not regarded favorably. Monogamy is the default as intended. In the OT, when polygamy was practiced, it was most notable among upper class and royalty. Many were political marriages, and those relationships complicated the commitments for single unions. The Apostles taught monogamous marriage and made that the standard for Church leadership. It is time to grow up and seek first the Kingdom of Heaven, rather than your petty lusts..

Polygamy is so bad in general and bad for your health and much worse than monogamy. Because: Sure you GIVE good: Love for all, freedom, no jealousy (umm right), no clingyness, stuff like that. Hanna, looking at the events of today, your argument aren’t very strong! Millions of men in monogamous relationships try everything to „worship“ their women, still she does not feel it’s enough. A woman should feel special if a man marries her, especially as a non virgin... but today it is not enough. He has to make her his god, which is a joke! Strict monogamy is a Western concept that was enforced and popularized by the Catholic Church. The modern traditional version of Christianity is a counterfeit ideology that adopted a lot of Greco-Roman traditions and has nothing to do with the early Nazarene Jews.

Thank you brother so much for clarifying this subject. In modern-day Christianity, they do not teach on this matter. A part of me believes that they do not desire to teach on this topic because of the multiplying of Yahs Children in a foreign land would probably be a force to be reckon with.

We so happen to live within modern systems and cultures that works against it. In such a case, the husband must determine if he will either wait and hope she changes her mind, put his foot down and proceed with taking on another wife without her consent or just give up the idea of attaining multiple wives altogether. The problem with our current state of affairs is that women tend to use whatever culture leverage they have against it. However, at the end of the day, Biblically, a husband reserves the right to demand it, and if his wife resists it, then she is rebelling her obligation to be submissive as the Church is to be submissive to Yashua Himself...

However, I strongly urge you pray and fast for Yah’s direction and clarity!!! As far as what decision you should make with your current wife, wait to hear His voice on the matter first. Although you’d be within your rights to just divorce and move on from her, you don’t know what He knows. She might be the very woman to turn down the road. Only He knows the future. I am a practicing Christian woman, who recently began studying this subject. One must be able to put away ego and discern what is scriptural vs. cultural. Culture has a very strong impact or hold on our thinking, and this new feminist movement is destructive in ways that are multifaceted. God makes it clear that nothing , and I do mean nothing in this earth was created for the abuse of man. By man, I mean mankind. We are not to abuse the earth or each other. Having said that, if a man and his wives have the right heart toward God, polygyny works out fine. In the American culture, truth be told, we are conditioned to be selfish, self-absorbed, excel at all costs, worship money, power, status, titles and fame. I have read through scripture as it relates to this subject and with the help of the Holy Spirit, came to the realization that a man having multiple wives is NOT a sin in God's eyes, although scripture may warn that it is not ideal in all circumstances. Us women take issue with this because of what we've been taught, pressures related to cultural norms, insecurities, competitiveness and just not really understanding the heart of God. I'm a married man whose been married for 11years now, when I bring this subject up with my beautiful wife she gets sick to the core, I show her the scriptures and she agrees that its not sin,but she's just battling to share she claims she loves me too much to share me with somebody else.maybe give me some advice because I'm a polygamist at heart.

You have to have compassionate for her. She has had you all to herself. Making love is such an intimate act and you will be sharing that with another woman. Also, was this discussed prior to getting married? Put yourself in her shoes. I think that level of comfort will have to come from God. If it is God's will He will make a way. Thanks Jay for the great question! The difference between a wife and a concubine, I believe, is best defined in Biblical context! A Wife is a suitable helper created for the husband who becomes one with his body which means one in unity and purpose. While a concubine is a also a wife but with a lesser status within the household. She is outranked by the wife in household authority like with a slave or in today’s times, a maid. She could not receive a bill of divorce upon separation and was not entitled like a wife was. Her children received inheritance but were considered socially inferior to those of the wife. Both the wife and concubine became one flesh with and were covered by the husband and were expected to be monogamous to him. Hopefully this helps! Many Blessings to you too!
Certainly in comparing these differences to today’s times, a concubine is more of a glorified version of a girlfriend. A more dignified version, at that, because she is covered in the oneness bond of marriage. She is legitimately spoken for. By law, the husband bears responsibility to her. She is not to be discarded like a one night stand and is not to be exploited sexually. If modern day women understood what a concubine is, I don’t think they’d average sleeping with at least 15-20 or more men by the time they’re 35. A sad statistic, but ignorance is killing the culture!

Great question! The reason for concubinage, in addition to there being the ability to have more than one wife option is for a number of Biblical reasons. #1 not all women within society share the same status. Some have been slaves, while others free. In which case, a slave woman can be covered within the family and household of a man. For instance, if a woman today is hired as a maid, and the man she works for has a wife that cannot produce children and the household still needs a maid, then the concubinage system made sense, because otherwise they'd have to find a new maid after he married the current one, because her status would thus change. She would, by default, become equal with the first. Then at the same time, if she is hired as a life long maid, then she, on the other hand, gains the benefit of becoming part of the family and now have her needs as a woman fulfilled (material, sexual and spiritual). #2 another example found in Scripture is with women who were former prostitutes, #3 widows or #4 prisoners of war. In such cases, these women were taken on as concubines because of not having anyone to vouch for them and their integrity. Which is why men paid a high bride price of about $275 in todays equivalence for a virgin. To have a wife's status was not something so easily attained in Biblical times because of the emotional baggage a non virgin carries. Stuff is not found ANYWHERE to support polygamy in the NEW TESTAMENT. Much of the old stuff was done way-- that's why it's called the OLD TESTAMENT. It's only few stuff to use for reference in how we came about in the NEW TESTAMENT.

Great question! Yes Sir, slavery most certainly is okay. In the Bible, there are different types of slaves. You see, in Israel, slaves become part of the faith and even the family. Slaves have rights of dignity and are to be treated as such. Even in the New Testament, slaves and slave masters sat side by side in the worship assembly. That’s why the passage I used in my video points out how a slave in Israel can become her master’s wife. For the God of provided, blessed and even regulated the continual practice of slavery. However, here in the west, we are very familiar with another picture concerning slavery. One where people are stolen and forced into it, dehumanized and even taught that God justifies such treatment. However, the Bible undoubtedly commands against abuse and even codifies punishments against such kind of barbaric pagan cruelty of God’s people. Therefore, the system of Biblical slavery is okay in the eyes of God, because it is designed to elevate humanity; not to destroy it.

The only reason Samson was not to cut his hair was because that was a commandment to his mother from God. Samsons hair was eventually cut, yet through his faith in God he retained his strength. He was used by God to shew unto us his divine wisdom - the culmination of said story being that a man should not give his strength over to a woman and allow her to let him trangress Gods law. Although I do not profess to be a Nazarite, I am no more disgracing myself as Samson nor any man that pledged the Nazarite vow. As Paul used the word nature (Greek - physis) 1 Corinthians, this word doesn’t necessarily mean nature in the literal sense. Meaning, according the universal custom of his day (under Roman Imperialism), it was considered Barbaric for a man to wear long hair. Therefore, Paul was using his culture to illustrate his point where a Corinthian congregation would grasp it. This is no different than with Jesus using the illustration of a Bridegroom coming for 10 virgins in Matthew 25. An illustration universal to his disciples to demonstrate the likeness of His return. However, Paul uses the natural custom of his day to make the case that a woman’s glory is in her hair and not a man’s. However, faith in Christ appeals to all nations, which means that there are more customs that actually exist beyond Rome. This is why I initially responded with the Nazarite principle, making the point that God isn’t against men with long hair.

Yeah! Let’s go back to doing all the things that landed the Israelite into captivity. Skip Genesis 2:24. The Israelites always wanted to do the things that other nations around them did. God’s permissive will allowed polygyny just like he allow kings. There had to be rules assigned because it was culturally accepted among the saints in the Old Testament. The Bible is a guide for living. According to Apostle Paul, “one man and one woman” is marriage. I believe that this is because of cultural changes and norms during those times and to prevent the progressively sinful situations among the Israelites. Rich men had the wives which caused problems with unmarried men that tried to obtain wealth to attract a wife. This is another reason men were not to have sex with others wives. This may also be why Jesus didn’t completely destroy women that prostituted during those times. 1Corinthians 7:2 But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. Not shared. This is indicated by “own” in my opinion. The Bible documents a history of a diminished people that progressively fell deeper into sin and separation from God leading to their captivity multiple times. God gave them multiple wives out of love and compassion for their spoken desires, yet they continued to sin against him even in the wives they chose. Solomon married foreign wives against God’s will and accepted their gods. There is a documented history of men in the Bible that sinned, yet God loved them and listened to their prayers. How many lies must men tell to keep multiple women? Last I checked, Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. Because God’s people are now reading and educating themselves, they are valuing things that lead to sin instead of learning from it. A survival tactic for families is now being brought into the mainstream as an acceptable way to live and satisfy the flesh. Mind you, we are in the last days where sin is boiling over. I must say this, I feel (and know) that God is faithful to forgive. He will forgive his wayward people. But, He will not withhold punishments for their sin or things that they do that cause others around them to sin.

Okay I will address your points you made one by one: (1) On Israel doing things that landed them into captivity: Unfortunately, your history is off, because Israel didn’t engage in polygyny by following other nations. First, it was already established in the practice of polygyny, because long before, Jacob (Israel) was blessed to produce a great nation of 12 tribes through 4 wives, God enabled him to have. (Gen. 29-30; Psalm 127:3) Second, beyond being culturally acceptable, God nevertheless chose polygyny through not only Isaac descendants, but through Abraham’s other children by his other wife Keturah and concubines he blessed before dying. (Genesis 25:1-5) And third, as I laid out in my video, God populated Israel through polygyny to a million plus by the time He delivered them out of slavery in Egypt. For each family coming out of slavery averaged at least 27 sons, so that means Israelite men averaged having at least 10-20 wives (study Numbers 2:32; 3). Therefore, the Bible not only guided and regulated these people in what they were already practicing polygyny, it also reveals how God blessed and empowered them through its practice. (2) On Paul stating that “one man and one woman” is marriage. Let me ask you this, Where exactly in Scripture does Paul say that marriage has to be between one man and one woman only? Also, please show me where in Scripture does it say that the Biblical culture of polygyny has changed and that it is not just what you want to believe? (3) On your opinion about “own” in 1 Corinthians 7:2. In just a little deeper dig, you would’ve realized that this particular vs. actually proves otherwise that Paul was not against polygyny. The translated word in this vs. for ‘His own’ in Greek is - ‘heatou,’ which means something owned exclusively by him and no one else. While ‘Her own’ in Greek is - ‘idios,’ means that she could have a shared ownership of him making her peculiar to him, but not the other way around. So Paul used these two distinct terms to show that his teaching was still in line with Old Testament Law and practices. However, as far as cultural changes within Israelite marriage practices are concerned, understand also that 1 Corinthians 7:2 was written to a predominate Greek congregation where public polygyny was not accepted within that culture. Therefore, there wasn’t any change in Scripture or Hebrew culture here, but rather over the near centuries to come, the Greco-Roman Empire began to impose their position of “Prescriptive Monogamy” onto their colonies. Proving that whatever cultural change that occurred, it was not due to any Biblical or Holy reason but pagan idolatrous influences. For the Greeks and Romans both practiced “Prescriptive Monogamy,” because they observed Hera/Juno the goddess of jealousy and monogamy only marriage. (4) On your point that the Bible documents a history of a diminished people, the problem you run into here is your attempt to connect the sins of Israel and their many falls in the OT with their practice of polygyny, but make no effort to produce proof that polygyny is a sin. You see, 1 John 3:4 teaches that sin is a violation of God’s laws. By conflating things we may not like with other sins of a people and then call what we’re conflating a sin is only a meaningless attempt to find guilt by association. Just because you associate Israel’s many falls with polygyny, you still have to show where the Bible states clearly that polygyny is a sin. (5) On you connecting polygyny with Proverbs 6:16-19, again you must demonstrate how any of the sins listed in that passage involves the Biblical lifestyle of polygyny. Finally, whatever else you’ve stated, it demands you, once again, show at least one Bible vs. that clearly depicts polygyny a sin, Old or New Testament. The word own was translated from the Greek language the Bible was written in, so to be accurate, you need to refer to the its Greek definition in these passages. Or else, misdefining the text.

I understand you, brother BUT God designed relationships to be monogamous. God created only Eve for Adam not several women for Adam. So the practice of pologomy began because the people of that time disobey god. As we read the bible, pologomy relationships caused conflict (jealousy, greed , hate, violence, abuse, rape).. dysfunction. So please….Ephesians 4:27 ESV / 30 “And give no opportunity to the devil.” In the King James Bible says: “Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold” From the very beginning of the Bible, monogamy is the model; therefore, just because it happened in the bible doesn’t mean god approved it. i live in St Lucia Caribbean America. i agree with you 100%. and it has been in my nature and thought habits since childhood. but because i was a christian i was taught error and tried to live up to this lie of monogamy ONLY...i failed i cheated i lied to cover up...thinking i was doing the wrong thing. NOW i know and am convinced to be honest about MY Ancestors lifestyle practice but in St Lucia --Caribbean American island and also under Queen Elizabeth--polygyny is punished ...so how do i live the righteous lifestyle in a lying society. i teach i teach i teach i educate i educate i educate...if they hear they have ears to hear---if not then they suffer for accepting the lie of monogamy ONLY.
I do not think anyone was lying, polygamy was only in God's permissive will, not his perfect will. Men had multiple wives in the Bible to protect the women after their husbands dies, to continue lineage, for wisdom(Solomon), or against God. And after all of those times they found out that that was not a good thing because of feelings and drama. If polygamy was the way to go then Jesus would've died for multiple churches and it would have never said for a "man to leave his home and cling to his wife" and instead "wives". Just because it wasn't specifically condemned does not mean it is okay. That's like saying the story in the book of Judges was okay when a man looked for a concubine, waited in a building from adulterers, threw her outside to be molested, and asked her to get ready to leave only to get no response so he chopped her up limb by limb and mailed her remains out to the surrounding cities because there was no mention of good or bad by God. It is wrong and goes against the natural order.

In your country taking a second wife is punisheable by law. However, taking a mistress is not. So you can make religious ceremony and take the vows with a second wife without having to register the marriage legally.

Gabriel Urena and wherever the Scriptures speaks of them as being one, does that mean they are no longer are two individuals with two different personalities and two different bodies or do these passages not mean the two have become unified in purpose as the Father and Son are two distinct persons that are one in purpose? Even as we become one in the Body of Christ, we still maintain individuality and uniqueness. However, our individuality and uniqueness becomes willfully submitted by every member to being one in purpose with the entire Body.
As far as there being consequences, please go check the record, there were more consequences left humanity by the monogamous marriages in Scripture than polygamous, because there were more monogamous marriages in the Bible. In fact, it was a monogamous household that led the whole world into sin.
And yes, according to Exodus 21:7-11, a man that takes on additional wives must provide for all of them. However, let me say this, “the primary purpose for having wives in the first place, according to Genesis 2 is because men need the help.” And according to Proverbs 31, a noble wife will help financially. Therefore, providing for one’s wife includes whatever she brings to the table to help him with, and that includes money.
First, polygamy violates the right to family which encompasses: the right to equality within marriage and within the family, the right to private and family life, the right to be free from all forms of stereotyping, and the right to exercise free and full consent in choosing a spouse and entering marriage.

The issue is when she belongs to someone else. That’s why Deut. 5:21, says, “21 You shall not covetj your neighbor’s wife. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house or field, or his manservant or maidservant, or his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” There’s no commandments for a man to look at a single woman. How else to people connect and eventually get married? So the next time you attempt to correct someone, make sure your doctrine and terminology is correct. It just looks bad.

The ultimate victim in these cases are the husband of the betrothed woman and the father of the single virgin. You see, in western culture, a woman is assumed independent of the man and so she fends for herself, with no covering. However, in God, she is the protected property of the man. In 1 Corinthians 11:3 & vs. 7-9, it says, “3But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God....7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8For man is not from woman, but woman from man. 9Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.” She was created for the man’s use and not the other way around. Men don't like more than one man because doesn't benefit them to share...yet they expect women to be ok with it when a lot have said they aren't.

Peace Brother! In context, this passage is not forbidding polygyny but idolatry. You see, God never wanted His leaders to trust more in riches, military or pagan alliances formed by multiplying wives, which is why He commanded against it in Deuteronomy 17:14-20. However, evil leaders and evil men have always abused all of these, to include the use of ‘monogamy only policies,’ but the issue is not in attaining these resources, per se. The real problem is when these things are abused, thereby putting more trust in them than in God Himself (1 Timothy 6:10; Genesis 3:17; 2 Samuel 24:1-17). In Deuteronomy 17, notice that if God didn’t want a king to have more than one woman, the context is also showing the same in prohibition of amassing horses and riches. However, but prohibition could not be the proper interpretation, because God Himself made Solomon richer than any other man and gave David, and Jacob their multiple wives (1 Kings 3:7-13; 2 Kings 12:7-8; Gen 33:1-7; Ruth 4:11).

This is the only subject that men who are "of the faith" can agree 100% on, defend to the bitter end, and it's probably the main reason a lot of them even decided to pick up a Bible. They heard they can have more than one wife and now they are suddenly all for being "righteous" men. I mean, we're also talking about a time when young girls (12, 13, 14 or younger) were married off to men in their 50s+... Because we know in many societies once she bleeds she's a woman and can bare children. I started at 9 years old so I guess I would have been married off as a baby. This is also a time when cousins got married and uncles married their nieces. And men married their brother's wives when he passed without having kids. So through all of this talk of polygyny that they won't shut up about... I'm waiting for the first man who is willing to give his 12 year old daughter to his homeboy to take as a wife, with a bride price of course. Better yet, who is gonna link up with his bio brother who has a son and let them get married? I mean she is finding a husband from her father's house right? Also, which righteous guy is gonna marry his first female cousin when she has her first monthly? Who is advocating to marry their late brother's childless wives? So we (excuse me MEN) are picking and choosing what to bring back. Can't say because it's all illegal in the west because so is polygyny. It just so happens that one seems to speak more to their desires than the rest...I do apologise for the rant, but it's a problem when this is it subject that most men can defend but so much is going on that needs addressing. Scorpion Of Mars, thank you for your comment. On all the examples you gave that show how men tend to pick and choose polygyny as opposed to other Biblical practices, I agree to a certain extent. However, some of the same reasons as to why women tend to be against polygyny, here in the west, are the same as to why men pick and choose. That is that these are all Biblical principles that have been culturally and religiously mis-taught against and heavily politicized. Through historical revisionism, men and women, today, have been disconnected with why all these practices made sense back in Biblical times, in the first place. However, let me say this, my positions I take are all based on support taken from Scripture, so whatever I advocate in this discussion, it is based on that. You talk about men gravitating towards polygyny because of carnal reasons, but let’s talk about why women and men marry today, so long after reaching puberty. I mean, aren’t you aware that due to the industrial revolution the age of adulthood has been pushed up to 18 and 21, where it was much younger? Now why did mankind retard when one is considered mature or not? You see, big businesses, universities and western governments all make a lot of money on making education an elongated process. Look at how the west deems adulthood at a rate far later now than before. Isn’t it safe to say because of money purposes, by not accepting marriage at 12 or 13, it is likely for “CARNAL” reasons as well?” If money is the driver, isn’t that a factor. Besides, keeping adult children at home with parents only facilitates lessening the population while creating less functional legitimate families in the process. Think about it, if a young woman still lives at home with her parents till she’s 27, how many years does she have left to be found in marriage and have children. Her clock is ticking. Sounds like the God of the Bible is wiser by starting her clock at 12 (puberty) rather than at 27 when she will likely stop having children at about 35. Besides in a culture where adults mature sooner than later, this produces a more productive society, anyways. For the Bible teaches that maturity comes when we put away ‘childish things,’ not when we reach a certain age on the planet to benefits the rich. On your point about relatives marrying each other, the only Biblical practice allowed is first cousins marrying one another, so for uncles marrying nieces, this is Biblically acceptable, according to Leviticus 18. Now I don’t know if you’re catholic or not; but deeming cousins marrying cousins as being taboo is a Eurocentric concept and not a Biblical one. On Brothers being commanded to marry their brother’s wives, this is called the levirate law, which was put in place specifically for Israel because of inheritance and land protection purposes. For God did not want family lines to be discontinued descending from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (Deut. 25:5-10) And to your point on how polygyny is illegal in the west and that men are picking and choosing based on desires, nothing can be further from the truth. Because polygyny is shunned in the west, men are nevertheless illegitimately fathering children from multiple women anyways, causing many children to be raised in single parent homes. The only thing that makes polygyny illegal in the US is to apply for more than one marriage license at the same time, which is called, “bigamy.” However, this is why men and women opt to marry via private contracts, apart from state jurisdiction. This way, one can marry as many women he can. Now what am I saying here? As men and women are concerned, we have been culturally misinformed. Finally, the desire for and the ability of men to have multiple women is ordained and designed by the God of Scripture. To take issue with this is not just a western ideology but an affront to the Creator of us all.
All polygamy is is a general term for the idea of multiple marriage, which would include all that you listed here, polygamy is still an acceptable term biblically as long as, within context, one is referring to polygyny. Therefore, it’s OK to use the word polygamy and not necessarily have to use Polygyny all the time in all instances.

Question to think 🤔 of in light of what you’re asking, which is a good one btw, does the word ‘one’ in the creation account refer to how many individuals Adam and Even became once they were married, or does it refer to them becoming one in purpose? Did the two become no longer two people in their marriage, or did they just become two individuals bound into one relational unit? Like how there could be 1,000 individuals who work in one business entity. Although they may serve one overall purpose, in no way does the 1,000 individuals lose their individuality the process.

You must remind yourself of what Jesus taught concerning those who follow His Word that they will be persecuted. For persecution is a part of the process. For He comforts us in knowing that, “10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matt. 5:10-12) Remember that any fear against trusting in and doing what He says does not come from Him. For His Word teaches, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim. 1:7) We are called to endure temptation through faith and obedience, built up by meditating in His Word, being filled with His Spirit and praying for our unbelief (Mark 9:14-29; Luke 17:5; Acts 1:8; Ps 1:1-3; Rom 10:16-17; Matt 7:7-11). Be encouraged! God will help you my Brother. Don’t allow not even family members, particularly church family to get in the way of what you’re being led to do, especially after you have prayed about it. (Mark 3:31-35; 6:1-6)

+Bluee City yes Jesus did have only one bride/body. However His one bride consists of a plural people (Matt. 25:1-13; Rom. 12:4-5; 1 Cor. 12:12-27; 6:15-17). You’re welcome and you should have only one husband, because you are a woman. In the Lord, men are to emulate Christ and can have multiple women, while women are to emulate Christ’s body which consists of plural persons and have only have one man (Eph. 5:22-33; Exod. 21:7-11). Deuteronomy 17 : 17 And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.
Thanks for the Scripture, but the fuller context sheds more light on what the passage says. God did not want the king to use his position for personal gain as his intent. That’s why the passage forbids he acquire excessive money and horses as well! In other words, a godly king is not to be driven by greed. However, if a king is not to have multiple wives at all, he is not to have more that one piece of silver, gold or horse, based on the context. See Deuteronomy 17:15-17, says, “15you shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses; one from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner over you, who is not your brother. 16But he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, for the Lord has said to you, ‘You shall not return that way again.’ 17Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself.” To assume a king could not have more that one wife would mean he could only have one wife and be only extremely poor based on such logic.

WRONG! God is completely against Polygamy/Bigamy. . . . Marriage is between ONE MAN & ONE WOMAN. . . Never says anything about being married to multiple people. . .. STOP TWISTING AND TURNING THE BIBLE'S WORDS....
That’s your position, so please show me at least one Scripture that says that God is completely against polygamy/bigamy and that marriage is between one man & one woman only. Or else, you are the one who’s doing the twisting!

Okay, so you insist on building this ‘straw man argument,’ while the real issue, you leave undone. Well I’m not going to chase you down the ‘rabbit hole’ on this one, brother. No! The real issue is that you are quoting from and referring to material that do not address the real point that I made. Listen, the real issue is not about polygamy but the evil condition of men’s hearts. Polygyny is only one type of marriage that the Bible describes and permits. The very Bible my channel is set up to defend. All of the ICCPR references and Emory University quotes do not address the real issue. Of course women and children are abused by the those who practice polygyny. However, the problem with these sources you draw from is that they are biased and one sided. They do not address all of the many atrocities that are and have been caused by ‘prescriptive monogamy’ in the world. They do no address the many women, and men, being lied to, women that are abused or abandoned when a man leaves them, because he wants someone else who looks better, the neglected children, the families of indigenous peoples around the globe that have been decimated or when men have been forced to divorce multiple wives, along with their children, in order to keep only one wife in order to comply with western governmental and false religious polity, the many nations and tribes that no longer exist today that have been wiped out by these same western policies. Europeans imposed monogamy only while using slaves as concubines wherever they pillaged. Not to mention, getting back to today, the crime, date rape, the molestation, incest, the children neglected because fathers who have God given natural proclivity for more than one woman are forced out of their children’s lives by the family court system or the many fathers who are buried in child support arrears by manipulating mothers who use this one sided system to weaponize men’s children against them. How boys and girls are raised without their fathers or a father figure, at all, in their lives because of this ‘monogamy only’ lie, from hell, that is only meant from its inception by the Greeks and Romans to build imperialism. Nevertheless, the issue is not whether the practice is polygamy or monogamy. It has always been about what humanity has done with these two basic types of marriage that fall under the umbrella of this oldest institution known to mankind. You see, God never wanted His leaders to trust more in riches, military or pagan alliances formed by multiplying wives, so much so, He commanded against it in Deuteronomy 17:14-20. However, evil leaders and evil men have always abused all of these, to include the use of ‘monogamy only policies,’ but the issue is not in attaining these resources, per se. The real problem is when these things are abused, thereby putting more trust in them than in God Himself (1 Timothy 6:10; Genesis 3:17; 2 Samuel 24:1-17). For there are many men today who even trust more in only one woman, monogamously, and yet destroy their own lives as well as cause abuse and neglect to fall on their children, as a result. Look at the effects Jada Pickett-Smith has on Will and their children, and the negative effects Ciara has on Russell Wilson on the field. When men put their ‘one and only’ woman on a pedestal that only God should be on, it never fares well. Just as if one may mishandle polygamy. This is why I say it’s not about polygamy but the condition of the heart of mankind, but you keep focusing on monogamy over polygamy, when each of these have been abused by mankind. So too has riches and military power been a distraction for many, but problem is not in having more but in what one does with what one has (Luke 12:48; 1 Kings 15:1-15). That’s also why God gave King Solomon more than any other king known to mankind. The problem was with him choosing idolatrous foreign wives (1 Kings 11:1-13). Nevertheless, God had no problem with him having many women, so that means that you are in opposition to Him by taking issue with what He deems good. However, what the God of Bible offers or condones should never be compared to or thought of as the same thing as what evil people do.

Polygyny is the idea of GOD Leviticus 18:18 God allowed polygyny do not marry a wife with her sister. Meaning God disapproves incest marriage unions, in Rev 14, the 144 000 comes from the 4 wives of Jacob,and the names of 12 children of Jacob from polygyny marriages have their names written on the 4 gates of the holy new Jerusalem.

Although I agree with what you pretty much say, I will push back on “Do not marry wife with her sister.” If you look at the meaning behind the words in that verse, God doesn’t want men marrying sisters as a rival toward one another. Not that marrying sisters is wrong altogether.
