Putting the pool to sleep
Ryan describes in this video a pool pro tip on what he calls putting the pool to sleep. There is two ways to make money servicing pools. Money coming in from serving the pool on a weekly bases as well as repairs that come in while you are managing the pool. When the pools wake up, it is your job to put the pool to sleep as fast as possible.
How the pool wakes up
The pools wake up when they need repairs. Motors leaking or burnt out, filters psi is higher than needed. The water chemistry is off or levels are high. Getting the repairs done as fast as possible and getting the pool to bed is a great way to run your repair department.
Communication
Communicating to your customers is a the most important part of putting a pool to bed. The faster that you can communicate to the customer that the pool is in need or repair, the faster you can get the approval for the repair and put the pool to bed. Knowing an issue is wrong with the pool and not jumping on this opportunity does nothing for your customer and only harms the pool. This will also make it appear that you are not on top of your game.
Being Honest
The customer has choose you to take care of their pool so you need to make sure you are honest. Only notify customers of repairs that are needed and true. Keep it honest and you will be treated as a true professional.

Wondering-how many pools is “doable” in an eight hour route, while not sacrificing quality to the client?

Tim Steele 2 - 2.5 pools an hour is how we gauge it. 16 - 20 pools a day. We try to be at 16 on route during summer and 20 a day in winter.
