My intro video into the ‪@poorboysrc‬ speed run challenge this year. I will be running in the brushless category where I may have a chance of at least being in the top 20! There was no way I was going into the open class although strapping a rocket to it sounds a little tempting! LOL! I would run brushed, but I don’t have any motors with the guts to compete! So brushless it is, and I am hoping to end the challenge with a smile on my face and car that is still in one piece, or at least repairable! Best of luck to everyone!
You guys are all awesome and I appreciate all the great comments and questions from everyone. Really enjoying talking to you all in the comments section.

Hiya Mark! Yeah I may have gone a little overboard on the runner body! Nathaneal from MCI really helped out with the great idea and cool decals for it. I got the body in the mail and looked at it for a very long time and could not think of anything cool or funny to do with it. He immediately responded with this idea and it is perfect. I am calling it the 0.787 racer! I am going to have to try really hard to keep it shiny side up during the runs! LOL! Have fun with yours and have a wonderful weekend!!!

Thanks Fil! yeah the bug is cool and classy and will be a great retirement body for it. the Mazda turned out super cool and Nathaneal really helped out a ton. I was clueless what I was going to do with it. The body showed up and I just stared at it wondering what to do... this is perfect and I love the little bit of humor it has, I am calling it the 0.787 racer!

Thanks! Bother turned out really cool and I owe a big thanks to Nathaneal at MCI for coming up with the 787 idea for it! I was completely stumped for an idea for it. I knew what I wanted to do for the beetle but the Mazda I was at a loss! I may not win but it will look fast out there! LOL!

Thanks Mark! I am glad you like them. The beetle is simple and classy and the Mazda is cool and corny! I was at a complete loss for what to do with that one and Nathaneal at MCI nailed it with his idea of doing the 787 Le Mans livery on it. The intention was to have the beetle as a nice retirement body for it after the speed runs and then a runner body i didn't care about for the speed runs. Now I have two nice ones I don't want to beat up! LOL! I will just have to do my best and not destroy the Mazda but a few scuffs and scrapes will get it a story! Take care and have a terrific week!

The color on the Beetle looks great. I have always like that color combination. The Mazda body is amazing. It looks fantastic. I would be reluctant to run either. Have fun with the speed runs,

Thanks Mike! Both turned out well and the beetle is classic and cool and the Mazda, well cool and corny! Nathaneal had a great idea and it worked very well! I am calling it the 0.787 racer! I am not looking forward to putting a scratch on it but I am fairly certain it is going to be unavoidable! It should be fun and rather sketchy but at least I get to giggle as the "supercar" flies past us out there!

I am glad you liked them, both turned out pretty cool. I was going to get out with it yesterday but other stuff came up and I did not make it out there. I will get it run soon as I am very curious as what it will do! I am going to try and keep it rubber side down as i do not want to destroy this body!

Thanks! The bug turned out really cool, nice and classic! The runner body I was stumped on, I got it in and had not idea what to do with it. Nathaneal had a great idea and delivered some great decals for it, Now I just have to try real hard to not destroy it and keep the shiny side up during the runs!

Right, how dare he make us buy more kits! LOL! The beetle turned out nice and classy just as I wanted it to. I don't dislike the rally theme I just love old classic bugs and the the big chrome bumpers just makes it look so cool. The Mazda turned out great too and it is a shame it is going to get banged up in the speed runs but it will add character. It will have the beetle as a nice retirement body once all the speed run stuff is over. Take care I hope you and the crew have a great week!

Once I got done with the runner body I did debate for a moment finding something else to use! LOL! I will be running the 0.787 racer body on it and if it get scratched and torn up then it was still worth it for the comedic value and the style points! LOL!

The beetle is cool and classy looking, too nice to bang around in the speed runs. I had no idea I was not going to want to scratch up the runner body but it turned out pretty cool too! It will still be run but it is gonna hurt a little when it rolls! I subbed to you to try and catch your runs and future videos as well!

Thanks John! The Beetle turned out looking rather snazzy and I will treat that one like an old classic car once it is ready for that body. The Mazda, I am calling the 0.787 racer, is probably going to get some road rash on it. I am going o try my best to keep it shiny side up but with the short and narrow stance it has it may be very hard to come out it scratch free! I will get it out soon for a shakedown run and see what it can do! Take care my friend and have a great weekend!

Oh wow the Beetle looks really lovely and I'm thinking that you are going to come out with a rough basher body for the speed run and then you come out with another amazing custom shell that also looks too nice to wreck. At least the Mazda 2 hasn't got hard plastic bumpers so might do better in a crash. Very cool Addam and good luck in the contest 😁👍👍

I like them both and yes, it is going to hurt when the Mazda rolls over! it was intended to be the "I don't care" body but after the great idea and graphics from Nathaneal from MCI it is really cool! Hi guys! Yeah, a huge bummer I had to buy another kit just to compete LOL!! The bug body ended up looking pretty snazzy and classy. The Mazda came out cool and touch corny which I love. The humor in it is terrific, I just hope it does not get destroyed! I am sure it will get a few scuffs and scrapes but I am hoping for not much more than that! Oh, wow! What a beauty that is! First that classic Beetle body, that was great already... But that Mazda, that is soooo cool! What a great idea, happy you got some help on the ideas, and flawless execution of that livery! Best looking speedrun car I've seen so far, it will hurt to watch it slide on its roof, he he... Yeah, I am already enjoying all the videos leading up to this SRC, although there is no way I will be able to watch them all, it will be big this year, he he... Thanks Mads! The beetle came out looking right snazzy and the Mazda just makes me giggle! I am so glad Nathaneal recommended this livery for it and it turned out great. I am certainly not going to lose track out it out there! I tend to make them too nice to beat up but in this case we are running the Mazda not matter what and it will just add character to it, hopefully not too much though! I would prefer to stay rubber side down on the runs! Yeah, There is no way I am going to catch everyone's run this year, just to many! Best of luck to you and look forward to your video!

Cool Addam! Looks great! Love the work on the beetle body...very retro but the racing Mazda 2 should look great out there. Got mine built...only thing left is the body but I'm going to be doing a speed run this week with a different body until I can get my other one ready...which I'm customizing :) Anyway...awesome stuff...can't wait to see it in action!

Thanks Freddy! I kind of went a little overboard with the runner body but when Nathaneal came up with the idea for it I had to do it the best I could and I think it is too cool and very funny as well. I would die laughing if I saw a real Mazda2 dressed up in the 787 race car livery. I am not looking forward to scraping it all up but that is its job to save the beetle body until the speed runs are over and then it can retire to a slower life with the beetle shell! Yes, I may have over done it a bit with the runner body but it is going to get run and probably scraped up based off of other runs I have seen. It is the sacrificial one and it will just have a story to go along with it afterwards!

@@AddamsPlayground I've destroyed the bumpers, spotlights and both front fenders have nearly split off on my beetle body, so I'm just gonna patch it up and use that as a beater. The escort shell has suffered some damage, but it's easily fixed, so I won't be running that much at high speed. I can't keep affording to buy new body shells. Lol

@@AddamsPlayground I'm using some duck brand clear repair tape. It's brilliant stuff. I've used it to repair the rear wing on my racing fighter and it works a treat. I'll be using it on the beetle once the paint dries. 👍

Great work on that Body Addam, you went to way more trouble than I did with my all black GR Yaris! Interesting fact if you don't already know, Mazda made a special edition MX5 (Miata) with the 787B paint scheme. They are very rare and highly collectible now, worth a great deal of money. When you say a decent collection, I think that has to be the biggest whopper of an understatement I've heard this year lol. Anyways all the best with the speed run challenge and let me just say I'd glad I'm not up against you in brushless class, definitely sticking with brushed motors :)

I am glad you liked the paint jobs and yes, I went overboard with the runner body! I am quite certain I am not going to be at the top of the leaderboard but I can look good trying! LOL! I'll take the style points any day of the week over the fighting tooth and nail over the top spot! Now I just have to do my best to keep it shiny side up! I have a decent collection, there are others with a lot more cooler cars than I have but I may have understated it a little bit. Nothing wrong with being a little modest with the obsession! LOL! Best of luck to you in the brushed category! If I had a good motor and ESC for it I would have probably played there instead.

Thank you! The beetle turned out looking pretty snazzy! I am definitely not running the beetle body until it is back to having a "normal" motor in it! The little Mazda may end up getting a little roughed up, I am going to try to keep it nice but it make come home with a little road rash. It makes me giggle and since I am doubtful to win I am going for style points! LOL!

Lol , I have the Mazda 2 sitting in the box here. Never thought to use it. Great idea. I found a very well-known kit that also fits. I'm holding off for now. That mazda is truly fantastic! And I drive mazdas . Love it.

Thanks Paul, I am glad you liked it! The Mazda was a funny choice, it does not scream speed racer until now! I am calling this the 0.787 racer! To be fair none of the bodies for the MF01X scream speed racer. Probably one of the reasons Fil chose them!

@AddamsPlayground I know for fact after months of chats about it. He wanted something very unusual and provided a more "level" playing field. I was pushing the MB, and the day the BT came out, I was pushing that nightmare. If you can get those stable, you're not a good driver, you're an Ace Test Pilot. Poor Fil ,I have been speed running him to death since last year.

LOL, probably! I am going to try and keep it shiny side up but more than likely it will end up with some road rash! The Mazda Race livery was a great idea and I am super thankful for Nathneal suggesting it as I was completely stumped. I got the body and looked at it for a long time and couple not think of anything cool or funny to do with it. He immediately responded with this idea and it is perfect. I am calling it the 0.787 racer! The two tone is not hard, the bonnet is pretty easy to over mask the dented areas and then gently cut away the excess. The roof and rear end are fairly straight forward too. You will happier with a two tone and shouldn't take to long to mask up. Nothing like the Mazda, that one took some time getting it masked and painted but was worth it! Take care and have fun with it!

The beetle will make a great retirement body for after the speed runs but the 787 livery will look great out there trying to go fast. Thanks! The Beetle will get driven like an old classic car once the speed runs are over! The Mazda however is going to probably come home with a little road rash by the end of all this! LOL! I am going to do my best to keep it shiny side up but I am fairly certain at some point it will take a tumble or 10! LOL!

Thanks! The beetle turned out really nice and will be a great retirement body for it once all the speed run stuff is done. I am hoping the super car themed body will give it an extra couple mph of speed LOL!!

Great work, Addam! Both of those bodies are spectacular. I especially like the blue/white beetle. Do you any suggestions for "finding" everyone's speed runs on RU-vid? Maybe a search suggestion?

Thanks! I do like both of them a lot. The bug is cool and classy and the Mazda is cool and a bit corny! I am calling it the 0.787 racer! I think the best search may be the "@poorboysrc" tag and that should pull up the majority of the videos as most folks are tagging them with that.

Exactly, I am here to compete but having fun with it and enjoying the whole thing is winning for me! As long as the car looks good doing it that is all that matters! My super-duper 0.787 racer will win some hearts if nothing else!

Thanks! The Beetle body looks pretty sharp! Once the speed run stuff is done it will get put on there and taken out for a run. It looks super cool with the chrome bumpers and everything on it. I am not sure at this point. I keep seeing more and more folks pop up on with videos. I know the first year it was like 30 or 40 and last year it was double that and this year it seems like more folks are joining in as well. I am glad I am not Fil and have to keep up with it all! LOL!

Thanks, I owe it all to Nathaneal over at MCI Racing as he came up with the great idea and provided the decals. I was completely stumped as to what to do with it and he immediately thought of this for the livery and it is too cool! Now I just have to try and not destroy it during the speed runs!! LOL!

Wow Addam.... what a great job on those bodies man!!!!!! That motor is probably a 4600kv, I think that's the only "4000" kv type motor Castle has. Either way, lets hope they stay shiny side up, however, have you seen any speed run videos? LOL. Good luck man and remember, hammer fisting a speed run car is the enemy....

I got the body and looked at it for a long time and could not think of anything cool or funny to do with it. He immediately responded with this idea and it is perfect. I am calling it the 0.787 racer! I am going to do my best to keep it from getting too torn up. I am sure at some point that roof is going to be slightly less shiny and smooth than it is now! At least the bug is safe! Thanks for the reminder, I am pretty good easing into the throttle but it is going to be a handful no matter how gentle I am with it!

Thanks! I the the cool, classy look of the beetle and it will make a very nice retirement body for it after the speed runs. The Mazda should gain a few extra mph from the 787 livery alone so I am already added free speed! LOL!

The box art is fine but I wanted less rally look to it and with the chrome bumpers it comes with it make a very nice classic look to it with a "normal" paint scheme on it. Nice and classy!

Thank you! You should try it out, I have no real chance of winning but it is fun trying and seeing what you can do with what you have. I did just buy a new ESC and motor combo just for these and future ones. Figured if I am gonna keep playing then might as well bite the bullet and get some go fast electronics!!

did you get your speed in on the challenge, I got my speed in but it will be on next week's board I'm in the brushed class and my initial speed was 6.1mph haha

The MF01X is such a weird little chassis, did they make it from half of something else? Just thinking with the odd rear upper arm and hub extension stuff? I got it originally to make into some sort of 1/12th scale basher, with the Toyota pick up body from the GF01. It works great!

It is basically if you too a TL01 and an M-series car and smashed them together you would end up with this! It has the same drivetrain (mostly) from the TL01 and the suspension arms will work with it as well. And the stuff it into a M-series chassis (kind of). It is a unique little mash up but it seems nice. Yours sounds pretty cool! I love unique ones like that!
