This looks great guys! I love This hungarian dish. My husband is hungarian and I am not so we mostly eat hungarian if I cook it or if anyuka has prepared it! Since we have just began Keto I am very keen to give this a try! Probably for this weekend!!
So i made this yesterday, it went really well. there were only two problems: 1/ I didn't have much kolbász left so unfortunately i had to make do with all of what we had left from Apuka. 2/ the sauerkraut we have here is german and unfortunately it was very sweet and made the whole pot sweet... I've added some vinegar to help with the sweetness however next time i think i will make the sauerkraut from scratch! all in all - it still went well and i will repeat this recipe when we stock up on more of Apuka's kolbász and also perhaps Anyuka's sauerkraut! i look forward to more Hungarian recipes!!
I made this last week and it was so good! Thank you so much for the recipe I can't wait to make it again :) Also the last day I had it leftover for breakfast I added two over easy eggs on top and mixed it in it was sooo good!
Funny that you'd post this on the same day I've actually cooked it too x) It's one of my all time favorite dishes, but sadly I can't make it often since Sauerkaut is not readily available here in Norway :( The version I make is without Schinken/Bacon (or sausage), but I'll be sure to try adding that next time! Awesome! :) Hm, maybe you could try making Sauerkraut yourself as an alternative? Definitely try adding some spicy sausage into the mix, it makes a ton of difference! You are very welcome!
Sadly I don't have the space for that, since we have a tiny kitchen and flat in general :/ But I'll definitely buy a lot next time I am in Germany :D Hopefully there will be Hungarian sausage on sale there as well!
I totally get it. We also share a small apartment and don't want to fill it with homemade sauerkraut and the likes, as it's just too convenient to get at the store. Alright, that just means it's going to be even more of a special meal when you do have access to the ingredients again! :)
Thanks for this recipe. It looks yummy and I will try it out this weekend. I will use Italian spicy sausage as I can’t get Hungarian sausage. Like it is low carbs.
