The 993 is the King of carreras, Keep your 996s and water cooled tanks. As far as I'm concerned the 911 era ended with the last hand made air cooled 993s.

Unpopular opinion. 996 is my favorite 911 I became a car guy because of gt3 and the rug rgt was in my opinion one of the most beautiful cars on that game

Tiptronics and cabrios are still great buys. In the US market cabrios are generally going for about 50% of the coupe prices and tiptronics about 65-70% of the 6-speed prices. Manual 6-speed coupe prices have gotten out of hand and the widebody prices are absolutely insane.

I've a 1996 993 C2 iris blue metallic. Multi full-concours winner. I just completed the 60,000 mile service and it runs like a Swiss watch. 6 speed manny tranny (G50). I also changed the 0.45 Ohm ballast resistors for the oil cooler and HVAC. (What a pain.) I also changed both lower camshaft cover gaskets coz they were 'sweating' onto the heat exchangers. I've had people pull up beside me, at the lights, offering ca$h in a suitcase! Mine has an LSD and I've found that Mobil 1 75W90 LS turns the gearbox into butter no matter the season (winter/summer).

It's just too bad the 993 Carreras all cost over $50k to get one in semi-decent shape. The cheapest one (base edition) I could find within 500 miles of where i live is $45,000, and that's with 120,000 miles on it! But, they're expensive for a reason, for all the points you listed. I love the 993 and would get one in a heartbeat if I was rich

Nice vid. got to bear in mind at this age point regarding your ride quality experience, that it will depend on what shocks and springs have been put on the vehicle. very few will be on original, most on some version of aftermarket which will greatly vary the ride balance.

unusual that those monroes are still holding up then after 26 years... a case where originality isn't best... there's a big bill looming for someone if this area hasn't had some spend recently.

people always complain about Tiptronic. what did you think of tiptronic. it keeps the prices low. i feel like you still get the 993 experience with the air cooled engine and light weight

I like tip gearboxes just fine. I have it in my car too but rarely use it tbh. It’s more effective for dropping a gear and overtaking than an auto of the time would be.

Yeah I did a review of the 997.2 also, and the dash is a clear homage to this generation. I also love the .2 gen steering wheel, as shared on the Panamera

Too bad that Porsche is practically non-existent in Poland. And even if it was, it would have a ridiculous price tag... That being said, I still really like 911.

the 993 is actually my least favourite of the 911 generations visually I'm sure it drives great but it looks like this wierd middle ground between the old classic 911s and the newer 996 and onward modern shape 911s like it doesn't look classic enough and at the same time not really modern enough either I'm sure for some people that is the reason they love it best of modern and old

totally understand the concern. But for me, it's daily use all the way. I have a guards red 1995 993 Carrera 4. 108,000 miles and still going strong. The car's got chips, a few dings, maybe in need of a repaint. I found one rust spot last week (small, but I will fix it). yeah not a garage queen at all. Used everyday for the last 15 years I've owned it. Drove that thing 25 miles to home from work in the worst snowstorm in Seattle's history (2006). Proposed to my wife in it. Had to relearn that clutch after recovering from a coma that left me partially paralyzed (clutch pushing was my physical therapy). Autocrosses. Trackdays. Birthdays. Date nights. It saved my life twice. Lots of memories with the Little Red. Not a perfect specimen, sure. But everything's fixable. The car still runs better than it ever has. It is part of my life and will be an heirloom for my little girl. I am happy.
