Hi Ted, Great review! That is an awesome car! You were spot on with your comments. They also make a pretty good daily :) I love how it just makes the other cars go backward so fast. I swear it passes cars just out of spite. Ours had a sticker of $170K or something crazy! Now you can get them in the $50+ range. Crazy amount of car for the price and the 4WD is awesome in the bends and also on snow. Glad you got to drive one! Pretty different than the G-body, huh? Franny

Hi Ted. You may remember me from NZ with my M5 clone of Alex's car. That car is f/s now as I've bought a 996.2 C2 manual, only 39,000mi when bought 9 weeks ago. Loved your review of the turbo, which is the cream of the 996 range, and probably the best bang for buck Porsche you can buy. And the Mezger security. However the C2 has a lot going for it too. Once the IMS is replaced (did mine), the engine risk is dramatically reduced. The car is significantly cheaper to buy. But the big advantage is no 100kg twin wrestlers sitting in the car, the delicious instant throttle response of the NA engine, and that steering! Unfettered by the weight and mechanical presence of driveshafts, it is sublime. Outright speed isn't as good as the turbo, but driver involvement is enhanced by the things I mentioned, and that was higher up my wishlist. It ain't slow anyway ☺️☺️

I have always loved these, even with the ugly headlights. Deep metallic Blue is THE color on this car. The only problem is that now, for the same kind of money, you can get a new C8 Corvette...

The 996 appreciation bodies has caused local 996TT rise to 70k in my local area now when they used to be 40s and 50s consistently. :(

I just can't get over the front of a 996 it shares way too many parts with the hair dress car. So ugly
