Webb Pierce what a country music legend that is sadly missed..Greatest vocalist and guitar player ..what a melody and the rhythem is phenomenal..great entertainer and love the performance..this video is old and darkened..
I just gotta say that I love going back and watching all these old music shows... it's just so home drawn and down to earth and heartfelt... it's hard to even try to replace it with anything else.
Love the song 'Little Rosa'.. I have it on a cassette tape but don't have cassette player in my new car so can't play it there anymore. My husband, deceased now, loved Bluegrass music & had a lot of tapes & old record albums. I have a record player & sometimes play them. We neither one liked the country music they have now. Just the old ones of Loretta Lynn & Conway, George & Tammy, Porter & Dolly, Buck Ownes, Bill Monroe ,Flatt & Scruggs ect..
So...........I had heard that Willie Nelson bought all of these old country TV shows just so Rural TV could reintroduce them to America. If so, great job Willie!
America was in a better mood. Yes. Vietnam war with protests and turmoil. Kennedy bros. assassinated. MLK assassinated. Malcolm X assassinated. Nixon just getting started w/cover ups and dirty tricks. Yup, those were better times!
October 1969,I was in the queue outside the Ryman,a stretch limo drew up and out stepped Porter and Dolly in matching outfits, plus cloaks....magic!..... The nearest the U.S. ever got to Royalty!
graham bull love yohr statement 3 yrs ago on porter & dolly oh theres a story i could tell 1972 at the hoilday inn in [?)MASS. Its no longer there but the memories sure are not with P&D but we had fun with the band.😊
THANKs love watching your shows. Lots of memories of porter dolly & band they were jn our area many times 70s 80s. I'll be watching ykyr other videos also.
Dolly Parton is a legend of country music..This is really where she got her fame and glory..Porter Wagner was so supportive of Dolly and he did not go wrong..She is tremendously good..
After Hank died Webb pierce was the biggest country star in the fifties , if you look up the number of weeks some of his hits had in the charts it’s incredible ,
These guys were my hillbilly heroes, back in the day. I had to get a guitar and make those sounds myself. They played this great music on the radios during the week days, just the way they play this stuff coming out of Nashville today that they call country but it isn't because they didn't grow up on real country and don't have it in them to made those sounds.
Contemporary country music is nothing more than bad rock n roll sung with a twang. There's no pickin', very little steel and the fiddles sound like they were hired out of a symphony orchestra. Not good at all and not very interesting to listen to.
As most lovers of authentic country music know, Webb Pierce was the top selling country singer during the 1950s until the explosion of rocknroll put a huge dent in the popularity of Pierce and country music in general. Pierce got his start in recording in 1949 on the 4-Star label, and then on his own label, Pacemaker. He, along with Hank Williams and many other great singers, groups and bands, was one of the very early members of the Louisiana Hayride.
when you watch the older shows in black and white, the camera hated those rhinestone suits. they almost blinded the camera. The screen would turn completely white from the glitter!
There on the RFD channel now, only certain provider's carry the channel though, RFD airs Porter Wagoner Show, The Wilburn Brothers' Show, Country Carnival, Nashville On The Road, Pop Goes The Country, & Hee Haw, plus Country's Family Reunion & Larry's Country Diner....
The shows were pure and simple back then. Nowadays just so commercialized that it is difficult to even watch. Sure, all new country stars have the talent, but the delivery package has changed dramatically. The music is focused on the 18-25 age. Forget about us folks over 45. Good to have reruns on Hee Haw, Porter and others. RDF-TV
This was also the year that Hee Haw premiered and yes Archie was part of hee haw that was a great show too ! it’s sad that country went more pop than keeping its heart and soul ! This is true country music
Growing up in the North (Mich) the Porter show was never broadcasted here, bummer, never saw any of this show till RU-vid was online, sure was a good show. Sometimes the performances on his show were even better than the recording studio, or were a one-off.
@@hennihabeck8502 I don't get what a "usw" is, or a what a "Rem Wall" is, but I am familiar with WKZO, which is a Kalamzoo AM radio station which does not broadcast all the way to the Detroit region. I listened to WKZO via smart phone streaming radio app, up until they cancelled my favorite conservative talk show host (Dr. Michael Savage/Savage Nation)...otherwise I wouldn't know what that meant either. In any case, here in yankee land, we were lucky to get the Johnny Cash show and Hee Haw, but no "Nashville tonight" or Porter Wagoner. I'd know because my dad was a Tennessee native and would have been watching them.
Usw Stands for use! W.K.Z.O. had a TV Station with a regular Country Music Show, even older than the Grande Ole Opry! The Country Music Star was the Well known Rem Wall WHO lived inKalamazoo. His Family is still living there. His Son Rendall worked for Gibson Guitar Co.even after they moved to Nashville, he was still their repräsentative. At Times of Porter Wagner Shows and the Like RemWall was already a Star at W.K.Z.O. I know theynow moved some place Else,Rem Wall passed away and Rendall, in the mean time 79, still works for Heretage Guitars once in a while, that is of Corona did Not Catch him!?
Thank you Jimmy Thompson for responding to this. I just saw your message today. I didn't realize I could get messages. Loved Porter Wagoner. Finally got to see and meet him in a Casino in South Dakota as I was travelling back home.
man these shows were great.....too bad they're not around or anything to replace these pure country shows from Nashville. Where oh where did Nashville go so wrong? It is really pitiful that they have gone so "mainstream" this is really sic!
The Wagonmasters worked with precision. A hand crafted, well oiled machine. they nailed "More & More" with Webb, "Little Rosa" is the instrumental version of "Teardrops In My Heart", performed by "Coco"/Red Sovine. they nailed it too. Miss Dolly's song however they butchered. She had HER part down pat.
Eddie Parker this brings back so meney memories I was just a kid then but I really did like this guy my favorite was he’s in the jail house now 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is Sandra cross buz butler is my dad you can find him on you tube I'm trying to get him the recognition he never had if anybody can help please hit back from the original mule train makers daughter
..cold a been an "off day" that day...Porter naked from the waist down & all.. Still in all, the very worst of anything they may ever do is over the moon compared to that crap I call Nashville Now,(not your show Mr. Ralph Emery), rather the recorded garbage that used to be deserve "Country" in front of the word music. Can I get an Amen?
Raises the hair on the back of my neck & every where else. Webb held the record for #1's until Conway TwittyI believe-over took him. Will have to Google to say 4-Shure :0
the music is great. too bad they're trying to emulate Elvis from 1956. come on webb, get a haircut hippie :-) btw before someone calls me a loser or something obscene I'm just teasing. doubt that will stop the haters....
joseph hooker. Sorry Porter was famous BEFORE Elvis...not sure Elvis didnt open for Elvis and Porter had his hair the same for years besides like Porters hair like it was he was a GREAT MAN!.
