Holy Crap! Thift stores closing, Walmarts closing and now Grocery stores will start closing?? hahaha!! OMG this comical and sad at the same time!😂 What are people going to do once they ALL CLOSE? It's been quite some time (25+ years) since I've done business travel in that area and some others (LA, San Fran, Chicago..etc) . They have gone from some of the most prosperous business and travel communities to absolute disaster areas.. What a mess.
i too traveled extensively for business and have seen the devastation occuring in major cities and even smaller out of the way communities that have been ruined by " progressive " politicians.
It's crazy how fast the tumor spreads. San Fran California to Austin Texas, and soon Orlando Florida. Or Miami but Miami is already a craphole. It's spreading out to every prosperous city around.

With fewer and fewer stores to steal from but the same or even increasing number of thieves, homeless, addicts, etc. the problems will now intensify at whatever's left until there is nothing left. The Safeways will eventually pull out too. Morale and optimism are very hard things to earn back when they're diminished. Lost cause and they did it to themselves.
It's crazy to me how these people have zero forethought on the matter either. Even now they're treating it like they did Walmart, mocking the departure and acting like mom and pop shops will somehow magically stick around.

Costco is a membership only store so they have some control on who comes in. But of course it will only take one incident of not allowing members of particular groups to enter that they will be sued by every governmental entity in the state for some kind of -ism or -ist!

The state of our society goes beyond political parties. Everyone loves making it a partisan issue. Living in Republican cities over the last 5 years and now being a resident in Vancouver Washington I can tell you Republican cities are not any cleaner unfortunately. I remember 2 years ago Portland was hailed as the pinnacle of social awareness. Progressive and leading the cause for defunding the police. It certainly did not take long for reality to set in.
Safeway is the only grocery store left downtown, and it’s difficult to access due to the camps of junkies on its sidewalk. I’ve been driving to spend my grocery money in Washington County because I am so sick of excuses.

The prices are insane at Green Zebra on Division St. Way overpriced. That location hasn't been there no more than 3 years. I'm pretty sure that's one of the problems. It's just funny how they want to blame other things on why closures happen. Born and raised here. I have never seen a town falling apart so quickly. And no I didn't vote for this .
