“Guys just didn’t do their job”. It’s hard to do a job when you have a manager who’s setting you up for failure. He has consistently failed tests against quality opponents. He’s not the guy to lead this team to the 2026 World Cup and never was. Rehiring him will go down as the biggest mistake in this federations history which is saying something.
Gregg is implying the players are not grasping what it takes to compete at this level… does Gregg know what it takes?? Fire Gregg! This was an absolute embarrassment and there has been no evidence on why he can lead us to success in major tournaments.

I am a firm believer that success is earned, so no I don’t think I deserve success nor does USMNT just because of which country we come from. And I definitely don’t think they are France… France has much better top-level talent, better depth and they have coaching and a manager who understands tactics and seems to comprehend what is going on around him. Expectations are different than what is deserved, and I do expect competence. We have players that have shown they can be competent at the international level, either for club and/or country, but we didn’t see competence on Saturday, and that has to fall at the feet of the manager because he’s the one who ultimately should be accountable. My two cents.
@@JamesCM86 when there are a number of Americans playing in the Premier League and in Europe, which is historically very rare, there is absolutely no reason for the USA team to lose 5-1. That's not even asking for 'success', just playing well. That game wasnt even close to good

Gregg Berhalter's second tenure has been a disaster so far: 1. Eliminated GC SF's to 🇵🇦 2. 3-1 Loss to 🇩🇪 in crisis that had lost 3 of it's last 5 at the time 3. Loss to 🇹🇹 and 🇸🇮 4. Needed stoppage time equalizer and ET to beat 🇯🇲 at home (also tied at home 8 months prior) 5. Demolished 5-1 by 🇨🇴 Did he even deserve a second tenure? How does he start with SO MUCH job security?
What has Berhalter ever done to earn the privilege of managing this team? Our performance at the last World Cup was very underwhelming given the talent on this squad. He is the king of Concacaf tournaments, that's it. These players and the fans deserve much, much better. We are begging you, find a serious coach, now!
You have to crawl before you walk, and run before you fly! MLS is a young league growing strong, better players will emerge and USA WIN THE WORLD CUP. Colombian here, and long time fan of the USA team. New coach is needed but the main thing is the attitude adjustment. I am a firm beliver in having a copa america with concacaf because The futbol in the americas HAS to. E thr standard in the world. Is our duty as conmebol to bring them up through competition. USA has to learn from this murder, have respect to the game and the giants that they play and stop acting like GIO reyna is going to fix everything.
Firing Gregg Berhalter needs to be the first step in turning this organization around. This squad has enough talent and potential to become a top 10-15 side, but US Soccer refuses to accept that unlike before when Berhalter was playing, player talent is not what is holding the US back. US soccer cannot accept that the organization, coaching, and ecosystem is the only thing limiting our team at this moment, unlike the days when Berhalter played. If anyone would like to understand why Greg was appointed in the first place despite his subpar career, google his brother Jay Berhalter.

I’m a Colombian American who supports both the USMNT and the selección Colombia. I was hoping that the US would give a respectable, scrappy performance and make it tough. They did not and I think it comes down to bad coaching. Gio Reyna is your best creative player, and you’re playin him deep. Tyler Adams is your best defensive midfielder, one of the few players that can break up your opponents offensive flow with quality and you don’t play him. Your substitutions were awful. At the very least they could’ve stayed compact, made it scrappy and avoid getting embarrassed but you couldn’t even get them to do that. There’s no sense of continuity or cohesiveness in this team and that’s partly because you haven’t created it and insist on switching players around far too much and often in games and major tournaments. Greg needs to be replaced 💯 absolutely no doubt about it.
Who the heck came up with those tactics and system? Haven’t we known for a while that Matt Turner is an ok backup? Hopefully this is a wake up call for our incompetent sporting director (a failure at Southampton and we hire him and he brings back this clueless coach).

Teams know exactly how we’re gonna play and how to counter it Gregg’s played the same system for 6 years and we haven’t gotten better but USSF won’t do anything.
I don't think this guy can read the game.. simple as that. Where has he coached at a high level (europe or s america) and where has he had enough success to coach the US National team?
Berhalter's superpower is blame deflection. Americans love a winner. Americans hate losers. But more than that... Americans will not tolerate being humiliated, or even just embarrassed. The USWNT is *never* subjected to our fans being outnumberd by the fans of other countries *in our own home* . How many #11 Milan shirts does Christian Pulisic sell? And how many #10 USMNT shirts does he sell? Same for all the rest of our European players. My point is that we absolutely love our players and follow them fanatically at their clubs. Because they're winners. *And that is worth a boatload of money* . Why are so many US businessmen and coalitions buying European footie teams? Why are so many media companies paying huge money for the US tv rights? Why have European teams made a habit now of doing US tours in the summer? And why are both the Premier league and the Champions league proposing competitive matches in the US??? Because it's worth a boatload of money. The sport is growing in America faster than any other sport or in any part of the world. So why did Wrexham, a lower tier Welsh team, outdraw any USMNT match in this country in the last several years? Because Americans Do Not Trust the USMNT to Not Embarrass us. The US soccer Federation is throwing hundreds of millions of dollars away because of their toxic insistence on keeping Greggg Berhalter as manager. Maybe... just maybe... if they get that shoved in their faces often enough... they might hire a manager that our players and our fans deserve.

When these players played with their clubs they dont make the same mistakes as they do with the national team. Do you know why? They are instructed. They are played to their strengths. In general they are coached better. You had the National Team for 5 years and no results outside CONCAFAC. The worst confederation outside Oceania. Your winning percentage against top ranked teams is 7% excluding Mexico. You are not good enough coach for one of the so called 'Best Generation of Players '. If you have pride in the USMNT just like you did when you played you should quit have someone else better.
The giveaway's by our MF played right into their strength as a fast transition team. We had no organization in the MF and failed to support the ball! Then there is the terrible middle distant passing to players who were covered…..no communications!
Too much time on a team. Maybe a board seat is better? I believe, it is on the players. If players want to keep making mistakes find players who wont. It happens in corporate america all the time.
We need to learn to play smart. We walked right into there hands. Got to keep your composure. That’s what the opponent wants you to do lose your focus. Going down a man is disasterous Also giving up goal early is our biggest problem. We must learn from this. Not make the same mistake over and over. Need to work on our defense . In order to compete against top powers you must play great defense

You are a great coach, took responsibility for the result, didn’t blame it on the venue. You understand the game and understand the greatness of this nation is in accepting all cultures. USA will one day win the World Cup because soccer is an open minded sport and combined with the greatest melting pot that has ever existed! USA will one day win it, with players of all backgrounds.
