POV Lumix GH2 Photowalk! GOODBYE Lumix G9 😱😭 

Thanks James! I just moved from GH2 to GH5-II for video but I'm not going to sell GH2 because it's also good photo camera with 3:2 aspect ratio, quite compact and lightweight. I love colors it produces. GH5-II replaced GH2 in the cage (which was made for GH4/5) and GH2 became free out of cage.

GH2 is a vintage camera... Like vintage guitars, theres something in it that makes it unique...

I have the gh2 and i use old lenses with adapters and i realy love this camera despite it is old it get the job done ..the screen unfortunately doesnt work for a year now i cant get it fixed and i use the viewfinder even with difficulties i do my job and produces great photos

I use a gh2 as my main camera an a GF1 as a tiny secondary camera Use both at high iso The gh2 is like always at 1600 or more and the GF1 at like 800 (i use her more at daytime so ir rare to use more) The noise don't bother me too much but the color shift (that happens when it's too dark for the camera) does, but Photoshop camera raw has a way to remove a little automatic that worse almost every time

I understand that the G9 is definitely a lot of camera. However, concerning high ISO, I tried out DXO Photolab 5 and it literally make ISO 3200 look like ISO 200; even ISO 6400 look SO clean. Gone are the days of lusting after anything FF! Some really great shots with the GH2... still runs strong. Mine is an absolute workhorse doing several hours a week of webcam stuff- hasn't failed yet!

From a physicist's point of view (me, radiometrologist) the luminous flux per unit area (lux = lumen per square metre) is exactly the same for a small sensor as a large one. There's even a code of practice (CoP) that says thou shalt never, ever, never, correct the response for its area. The pixel size is important but what we find with modern sensors, there is far less noise now, as the ISO goes up, the dynamic range comes down. The meter is adjusting for 18% grey which it won't find in failing light - we can compensate the EV or fiddle with the gain curve to push the shadows up. The G9 may have too many focus points. It has to find contrast between adjacent areas. If it cannot do that it dithers where the GH4 with only 49 points is done and dusted. However the G9 high-ISO look is far better than the fast-film grainy GH4

Warning ....G9 is not the slightest weatherproof...last week mine went kaput in a slight drizzle ...EVF and LCD black but shows menu items ...back to the good old GH 2

I am hoping for the return of the multi aspect ratio sensor in the future of either omsystems or panasonic mft

Gx8 ibis doesn't work in video mode

Is the GH2 worth buying now for a beginner photographer?
