This is so helpful for anyone considering getting the CDL, and what the jobs actually like. I like the waking up at 2 in the afternoon! Id rather drive at night, if you even have a choice.
@@chez8239 yes but if you are on a job and you need to deliver it for the next day, then you dont have a choice to drive a night only when its a new route!
idk if you learned this yet or not, but if the trailer is too low, all you need to do is dump your bag and get under it. Then reinflate your bags before fully connecting. as long as the trailer will clear the tires that will help. also, keep some blocks in the truck. you can use them to raise the trailer yourself.
When I have to hook to a trailer that is left too low I just dump air bags and get under the trl and then raise airbags that way you don't have to crank so much if it's a heavy trl!
Hey Chez, New Fan! I have been watching your videos for a month now. Love them all. Long or Short! I'm retired and I am starting with Swift (CDL TRAINING) in Phoenix on Monday 6/28/21. I've been repairing Photocopiers for over 40 years so this is totally a new adventure. I have watched a lot of other "trucker" you tubes but always come back to yours. Very positive and upbeat. I have a 19-year-old son (also a 26-year-old son). I hope to start the 19-year-old into trucking in a few years. We could do team. :-). You're a star now (so watch the language) All God's best to you man.
Always do long vlogs and if the people don't want long ones just chop it into a bunch of small ones. Viewer hrs is important to your channel. Just keep it interesting as well.
I think doing long videos and short in the mix is cool. You're right because new people like me would like to know how it is on the road, real life situations.
The longer videos are the best, I’m in the process of getting in to trucking school so I can be like my older brother, I love driving. Nothing but music and the open road.
Great video bro I like the fact you do POV videos which gives future drivers a detailed insight on what to expect being a dedicated driver. Good look! 👍
There used to be real restaurants at truck stops. Like, real mom and pop restaurants. Not so much anymore though. I'm 38 now but when I was a kid I would always go to these truck stop restaurants because I loved the atmosphere. I live a half an hour from the largest truck stop in the world on I80 in Iowa.
Those old truck stop restaurants were the best in my opinion......homemade soups, breads, lots of tasty selections. Only went while traveling because was raised to only eat at home. Fast food is not my thing but I have found very few options that I will happily eat if I must.
Most receivers will let use use their dumpsters as long as it's not a lot of stuff, commenting so long after video Because I just found your videos and am binge watching them.
Light on back of cab .....switch is on the dash .........buy a head lamp............landing gear handle was put on right side of older trailers back in the day to make sure drivers got out and look .......stay safe and keep the greasy side dwn
Always try to remember. if dropping wind handle towards the back as though its going backwards. or if easier remember if you want the trailer to come with you wind them forward as the trailer is coming forward as well. I hope that makes sense. 👍 sorry my grammar isn't the best. H. England, UK 🇬🇧
I am with my mentor on the road (day 3) . Thank you for sharing this video. This is so encouraging to watch how you maneuvered and to do what you have to do. Big Up!
I have trailers with the same winding mechanism here in Australia. The reason it pulls out and pushes in is because it has high and low range. What this means is you can select one or the other depending on the weight on the legs. Makes it much easier most of the time.
@@830ent I think they both the same, both mega carriers but seems like people do pick prime over swift, but FYI prime trucks are governed 63😂 I always pass over prime trucks they are slow !
Hey I like the continuous video without cuts. I've been watching a lot of trucking videos lately. Most guys skip over the most important part, picking up load and dropping off. God Speed.
The long videos are great. I'm thinking about going to trucking school and this is a great way to see what the experience is actually like. How do you like working for Swift? I hear it's one of the better companies to be in.
haha I’m glad I can show new up coming drivers what its like to be out here as the first year (: Swift is been an okay company for me definitely a good starting company in my opinion !
You can buy a headband flashlight from Walmart so you can see at night when you uncouple. Since this video is from March I'm sure you figured it out already. New subscriber Lol.
Sorry to be off topic but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the login password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Maddox Zakai I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This is really dope content especially coming from a "rookie". Thank you for taking the time to this out. I am looking to get my CDL soon. Keep bringing the heat and stay safe out there.
Thia is helpful videos to me cause i’m thinking about being a truck driver when i grow up and have fun watching these thanks for good content and keep up the good work
Def like the long videos man. I would like it if it was in real time honestly. I've always wanted to drive a truck as a kid, I can do just that riding with you bro. I hear you say your a rookie and if that's true your killing it man. Very informative and I love the little details. If I did decide to jump into the game I feel this would help a lot. Love your personality and how light you make the worst situation bro. Thanks a lot for what u do, feels like your Goofing around but in reality your helping a lot of ppl.
Chez I really appreciate the knowledge sharing, I am looking at retiring this year from a career of 35 years and getting into trucking for a few years.
I like the long vlogs and I appreciate the time you spend to put people on to the experience, especially with you being such a young driver.....the only thing that drives me crazy (no pun) is the giggling
Hey, I’m a newbie to your channel, strongly thinking about going into trucking… I love these longer video’s which are super cool and so helpful, I actually like the night driving parts 🙂. Keep doing a great job and keep learning ✌🏽
@@Olesnapper Even if I have adhd looks like a really good job! Might consider it once Im more responsible and can do things more on my own! Im 20 but I will learn!
Keep it up man, past 1K subscribers! Just keep posting and soon you'll make more on youtube then trucking haha (hopefully!) You have a great attitude and are really good about explaining everything for us non truckers, you're just chill with a good vibe, I can play your videos while doing other stuff.
You all may know this but I had to learn to look to the right and down to the fog line--that solid white line near the shoulder of road when an oncoming vehicle had their brights on. You will not get blinded when you do that, your eyes will be safely keeping you on track.
Hi brother. You can take out the airbags air with the switch inside of your truck and back in then fill the air. Don’t need to waste your energy. But don’t worry trucking teaches us everyday. Tc
Hi, I've just heard you mentioned long vlogs. I watch quite a few truckers in the USA and some do 20mins and others do 1hr to 1hr and 15mins. now personally I prefer the ones around the 1hr mark as you can't fit your full day in a short time, plus your just getting into the vlog and it finishes 😪 like thay say (A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TRUCKER) so I'd expect to see them from getting up to them parking up at the end of their shift 👍 I've noticed a lot speed it up when their on long empty roads/interstates. Hope I've been of help. H. UK 🇬🇧
Lower your suspension and back up your tractor and then lift up your suspension then you can lift your trailer with the tractor and adjust the landing gear and back it up
When you get of your drivers chair to drop your trailer or check the back always close your drivers door when you leave your drivers door open you give all kinds of bugs a chance to get in so close your door
You can tell a newer driver by how when they have more then enough room to pull out streight and make the back a simple streight line back they still choice to do a 45 or 90.
There should be a switch just to the right of the steering wheel on the dash labeled "utility light." That'll turn on the light at the back of the cab. I work at the West Valley terminal.
Now that you explained why you make the videos long, I get it now (I was firstly, like man this guys videos are long… but I still found myself watching it all the way 😂). But it’s definitely dope to do it that way. It’s a different way of providing the same content others give us… I would love to know how you do like your food prep and things like that like how you bought the rice cooker ..
Wassup CHEZ!🤙🏽 New subscriber to your channel🙌🏽😎 I’m watching other truckers channel too trying to learn some stuffs about trucking! I’m working on getting my CDL here in Hawaii then move up the mainland to drive and make money! I appreciate these kind of video kause it’s motivating and helpful! Pls post more long videos like this bradda💯🙏🏽 Much love and support from HAWAII😎🤙🏽 ALOHA!
I have a light switch for the back of my trailer by the catwalk over by the driver's side door it's a tago switch which it's right by where I keep my tools and stuff in the little cubby hole right before then next to the seatbelt there's a tiger switch that turns on the LED lights for the catwalk
Respecting the big word I think have to respect ourselves and others well, you're smart guy I enjoy watching you Dr I'm considering doing this for a living
Hey pare. Reminds me of when I first started. Lots of mistakes and frustrations. Only because mistakes waste time and we're being paid by the mile. If it was by the hour no biggie. I know this comment is a little old and you've probably learned a lot already from your mistakes but I will give some advice for the newbies out there. Before you even go to the next customer, or accept a load, find out what the customer's drop hours are. ( open hours) My company provides that info, and if they didn't I would call the customer to find out or go to their website. I am somewhat flexible like you and prefer to drive days rather than nights but will start early or run late to advance the load and move onto the next one but I definitely don't like sitting for 12hours when it's not my normal sleep time or rest break. You might also consider getting a push broom. It's a lot more stealth when cleaning out the trailer (99% of the time I do that at the empty pick-up location that way you can also inspect the trailer good especially for roof penetrations or holes) the blowers kick up too much dust on me. Regarding your comments about food at 1:59...where's Jollibee when you need a Chicken Joy fix? Haha!🍗
Trucker path nearly got me stuck in Maine and Connecticut. I’d say go ahead and pay the 300-400 dollars for a Rand McNally. The phone app is a nice thought but they’re just not up to par yet.
A lot of students at Stevens Transport quit after the first safety class because of the gory graphic photos that were hanging every where.Good luck to ya.It only gets better when you apply what you learned in tight and difficult situations😎
Good video. As a female ready to start it allowed me to see what's up. I did think you were driving too fast sometimes in the very beginning turning. Lol. But good job. Thanks
