Just tried doing a small panel on my motorcycle... I have a whole new respect for ppf installerrs... Its a straight up art. A clean install might as well be a nice paintint.

dude.. i appreciate your genius at the craftsmanship wrt cutting PPF while applying on the car.. i for one, am someone who is good at DIY but there is no way i am doing this with ppf.. maybe just worried that i will invariably cut through the paint.. Much Respect!!

Great video. So you snap off to a new piece of blade after every use?

Correct!

That’s exactly what I need to do. I’m putting fender flares on my truck and I need to cut some existing PPF off. Any suggestions? Should I score and rip like this video? I don’t have anything to practice on

I would trim very very gently and slowly try and peel it off. Don’t force it. If you didn’t cut deep enough, do it again with a bit more pressure. Hope this makes sense!

Hi Eric, what is your opinion on trimming PPF using knifeless tape.
@DriveProtected
@DriveProtected Год назад
Don't do it. PPF is too thick and the knifeless tape leaves a rough, jagged edge on the PPF.

Ok, so is there a way to prevent the dirt from accumulating along the edges after installation? I.E. spray wax, paste wax, ceramic coating....etc And is there a great product that can clean it if it does collect dirt. I've used alcohol but only works, so so .
@DriveProtected

I recommend using an all purpose cleaner and a microfibre towel to scrub along those edges to remove any collected dirt.

How about trimming along the edge where you don't really have enough to grab and pull the seam a part. like you're trimming maybe 1/8" or 1/16" off the edge where dirt accumulated.
@DriveProtected
@DriveProtected 8 месяцев назад
Do so carefully.

Thanks I just went to a local shop and they gave me some scrap to practice on. I placed in on a tuberware lid which is very easy to scratch and practiced. On the very edge I had to use tweezers to get a grip on it so I could pull it off.

given that there is all these videos that show how much ppf can do to protect the paint I would have thought it would need more to be cut other than just a knife
