ive had this clear for alittle less then a month the gloss retention is without a doubt so much better than dc2000 and you can stretch it way more per panel. great video again gabe and to the rest of the followers listen to the man about bake cycles because this clear can be a double edged sword.
Gabe your videos are awesome man! I can tell you put a lot of time into them with your Im sure already crazy busy flat rate time schedule. I appreciate all your invested time and hard work on this channel for our viewing pleasure. I absolutely love painting as well. All the meticulous prep work put into getting it ready is defiantly worth it once you starting letting the paint fly and seeing the final product and happy customer!
I'm falling back to using these speed clears more often, but many of them are so thin that they easily run on you, esp. the 1:1 clears that also require hardener in the basecoat. You better do your polishing within 2-3 days, as some of these clears get so hard that they don't polish easily anymore. Currently i'm using a budget speed clear that bakes in 5min@ 60°C/140F, AWESOME!! Get well soon, Gabester!
+William Mulvey thank you so much!!! It a had a little orange peel haha I'm still waiting for the day when they don't have any orange peel!! We are located in oakville Ontario Canada 😀
+Christopher Hinson oh man dude!!!! I just finished telling someone thanks for writing to me saying they got the package and now you ! Thank you so so much Christopher I really appreciate it man! 😊🙌🙏🙌
Awesome! Thanks for the review on the 520. We have been playing around with it at work as well. And you are right. It doesn't like the heat! I treat it more like the ec800 clear when it comes to baking it. Nice stuff tho! Have not had a whole lot of luck on hoods or roofs. Had it solvent pop or just dye back
+Sean Edmondson yeah to much to fast I wouldn't use it on top big surfaces unless you can air dry or even bake it for 20 at 110-120 it's a great clear though I'm gonna be using it more
A good production clear makes a paint shop. In my experience trying to rush what is already a fast clear is asking for trouble. I'd much rather be spraying than polishing any day. Noticed the dekupps hanging on the wall. I like that system quite a bit better than 3M. Cup is more stable on the gun. Cup volumes more accurately match what I need to spray. Hopefully they will incorporate the filters like 3M does in the future. I actually knocked a fully loaded 3M cup off a gun once, and I still tried to like the system after that.
Hola Gabriel...
watch the video twice digest think then ask the question,But Gabe gives you the answer in the video.I understood every word .But I have been down the road many times well done Gabe ....
+deno booth thanks man!!! That means a lot!!! Thanks for actually watching and applying it ! Many people just want to message me the question without watching anything and that defeats the purpose of the videos! Haha
I started using this clear about 2 months ago & it's shine @ first I bake it & then it dies back within 1-2 days bad..But I will try what you said 2 medium coats 5 minutes flash then bake 120 20mintues see if that's works..I am a production painter anywhere from 2 -5 cars daily so I hope this works better this time cause if a hole painted panel needs polish or Rey clear then because die back this clear is no good..I give it a shot 1 more time.
Hey i liked having you on there. It was nice to have another voice of reason, among all the " my brand new truck has 3 rock chips in 10,000 miles. My last vehicle had 300,000 miles and didn't have a single chip" posts.
Moto v painter,,are you using the 520 clear on a daily basis.?Do use the 520 clear for high end cars & black color car's, , or just on regular daily driver car??
Hey Gabriel, is that new clear a MS or HS clear? I have a crossflow spray booth with no heat so I need a medium solids clear that is dust free in about 30 minutes. When I spray HS clear in my booth it takes to long to air dry and I also get micro pops. From my experience it seams that high solid clears liked to be baked.
Hello! I like your videos, you are a serious specialist. I wish to ask for help about clear coats. I worked with the Megalack, I'm not contented. I worked with the Roberlo clear coats, that is too soft, falls back its shine. What is your opinion about the Debeer clear coat? I don't tryed it yet. Or what do you offer me? Thank you very much for your help.
Gabe, Is it best to wait until the clearcoat is hand slick before applying the next coat? I try to follow the tds, but most times the clearcoat is still sticky, stringy at the flash times depending on the weather.
I think I speak for many, most of us have booths but not ovens, could you specify or make a video about spraying without an oven and what material would be best
+Gust Namo this clear is great for spraying without an oven that's for sure if you take a look at the tech sheet you'll see that it is dust free very quickly for a clear that has outstanding shine 😀 everything would be the same without and oven the only thing that would change from all my videos would be that the clear would have to sit a lot longer. And this clear will be perfect for that 😊
MOTIVATED PAINTERS do you know how long more? I understand the temperature should be around 75 degrees. in your words do you think this is the most convenient clear for people without ovens? or would you recommend something else
+Gust Namo depending on what you want I would say if you care for the finish and shine then yes this is a great clear for no oven but if you don't care for the finish of UV protection then other faster clears are available and cheaper price. I don't use them so I can't speak on them. Like I said look at the tech sheet that I posted it will be more informative than I will be
Hi gab I paint this clear 2time but still run without baking When I leave it at 23c it’s become run so do u have some idea for stop run without baking and without orange peel????
+Alane Atika stop putting so much on haha. Just kidding hit seriously try to find the balance. It's hard to get it to lay down without any orange peel. The only jobs ever without any orange peel are cut and polished jobs
Sorry to be a pest but what orifice size on the cup. (Assuming you mean a Din 53221 cup which can range from 2-8mm). Perhaps you don't actually concern yourself with it because you have the computer to tell you how much thinners (if any) to mix. If so no problem. Just wondering. Great when you review new products. Thanks
+Dave Sage yes sir I don't really concern myself with it but the most common Din cup will do as long as you are fairly close you will be golden 😉😀😀 not a worry!!! Thanks for caring enough to write!!! 😊😊😊
Thanks Gabriel! I loved the video so much that I spent a lot of time on the PPG channel and I found this comparison of the clear coats you mentioned in the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2kPl_Ar-jQo.html Btw, would be nice if you could link the guns in the description of your videos, even better affiliate the links with Amazon :).
+Elías Hdez haha thanks a lot man!!! I wish I did but this guns aren't available on Amazon for the most part. But I will try to get more links on there!!
+Jing Liao I like ec520 much better unless is a very small repair. 520 is a great clear you could apply to a whole side and still have great shine and build.
@Gabriel Merino 😄 that's funny I've never been on the website... I am a painter in Canada and I have 22 years in the trade, I have used all kinds of products and PPG is quite good! I am using it now for about five months and I haven't had many colour issues. Do you need a password to get access to this information on the website or is it available for public consumption?
+Andrew Orona you got to use it like the tech sheet says and you will love it. If you bake it to high it dies back if you flash it to ling it dies back but if you follow the sheet it's actually an amazing clear I've seen the shine is incredibke and you can put the car together 20 minutes after a 20 min bake at 120 metal temp! But it is similar to the 800
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS oh stop it ;)You are a machine.. that sprays like a OG. I would love to have half your knowledge ;) btw I had major issues with this clear when I started spraying.. you can't stress enough how Important or how much trouble it will eliminate referring to tech sheets. Few years back I knew it all and didn't need anyone telling me what to do, long story short it didn't work out.. haha tech sheets tech sheets TECH SHEETS I wish I would have went by them.. one of those things, I wish I knew then what I know now ..
Great review Gabe! I just got my first gallon of 520 a few days ago. I'm still dialing it in but so far i'm really liking it! Check out my instagram, jpaint74 to see my progress with this new clear! Keep up the good work!
