I love Van Wives! You know I have been renovating homes for decades. They are just doing it on a huge scale. I even watched them when they were just van traveling.
It was good to see you at the show again, even if I did not actually get to speak with you. You (the YT creators) bring a lot of great energy to the show, along with a lot of new people. From discussions with the vendors, its a mixed blessing. We will have to see if the record attendance of the past two years corresponds to increased sale numbers. Regardless, I hope the creators' booth becomes a permanent part of the show, just like the writers' tent with Lin Pardey, John Kretschmer, Carolyn Shearlock, et al. See you next year for sure aboard Maverick!
I watch Breaking Waves and I know Ben and Alie contribute a portion of their funds to the Rugged Coast project. Go see the video of them helping with a clean up on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
For me, the drop drop in channel watch is directly proportional to the length of the videos. I probably have 10-15 10 minutes window in the week but I'm lucky if I have 3 20-30 minutes windows I'm willing to commit to a sailing video. The algorithm that rewards longer video killed a good bit of my watching time. The opposite is true for reels. I'm not a huge fan but there is zero commitment, I can just flip a few and get back to what I'm doing.
You guys hit on it at the beginning. There are too many kids thinking they can make a living on you tube by sailing. I've seen 8 different channels do lifepo4 installation videos...after 1, who t f-k cares. You need to be interesting, and fun...and hardly anyone of these new channels have anything to offer those of us that have been sailing for a bit, anything at all about boat maintenance and or repair.
