The Stage One Kit for the Predator 212 does not quite bolt right up to the Predator 224. Follow along to see the problems I had adding the GoPowersports Stage One kit to my Mega Moto 224.
The Mega Moto 212 is a mini bike kit purchases from GoPwersports. I have chosen the Predator 224 as its engine since the 224 is essentially a Ducar 212 with a 3mm longer stroke. While the horsepower rating is very similar (6.6 vs 6.5), the 224 has 10 ft/lb of torque compared to the 212's 8.

Great stage mod install video Doug! The neighbors are gonna love that header! 🤣🤣🤣
@DougsMessyGarage
@DougsMessyGarage Год назад
Go Powersports sells a header specifically for this bike. I think I'll be getting one of those and a bit of a muffler to go with it.

Geat video. What jet did you replace stock with? And where did you get it.
@Deucealive75
@Deucealive75 Год назад
The stock muffler would work with the bigger jet. I used it on my initial run and ride "break in" on my mild build.
@DougsMessyGarage
@DougsMessyGarage Год назад
The stock muffler would likely have been okay except it was blowing right at the rear fender and had already started to damage it. I have the GoPowerSports.com exhaust system for the MegaMoto and will be installing it in a future video. Unfortunately, it's winter here now so no road testing till spring.

@@DougsMessyGarage Yes. I built a small deflector pipe with a flange that bolts to the muffler shield with 4 sheet metal screws. I have that muffler on my 196 bike. It's a proven performance add on compared to the 196's stock muffler. My 224 bike has a header and mini 91 to take the edge off of header noise. The 224 is a beast and I didn't even go very far with it. I don't need all that power.

My 224 came with evap canister. Can the fuel vent hose just be plumbed direct to valve cover?
@DougsMessyGarage
@DougsMessyGarage Год назад
No, the valve cover vent is to allow blow by combustion gasses out of the crankcase. The purpose of the tank vent is to allow fuel vapor to escape the tank so as to not buildup pressure. Typically, when removing the evap box, people plug the hose with a small filter to keep foreign debris out but still allow the vapor and gasses to get out of the engine and tank.
@kingsolomon3175
@kingsolomon3175 Год назад
@@DougsMessyGarage thanks I have the filters just didn’t know if they were necessary. I was trying to see where those vent lines went on units without canister.

Since you removed the gov lever, does this now illuminate the use for the gov? Essentially, you kinda need to take it out, and then build the engine or have a fabricated medal limiter?
@DougsMessyGarage
@DougsMessyGarage 26 дней назад
Nope, the governor is still functional on my engine. When I kick it up to stage two, I agree completely that the governor will need to come out.

That's a pointless idea on an engine that size.
@Foebaned
@Foebaned Месяц назад
@NubsWithGuns not necessarily, find a small enough turbo and you might see some decent gains, just have to make sure you match a decent psi ( obviously nothing crazy) make sure the block is solid for it and booya

@consciouscoma85 9 месяцев назад
well this kit preform with out the governer as well?
@DougsMessyGarage
@DougsMessyGarage 9 месяцев назад
i suppose it depends on what RPM you are running it at. The stage one upgrade will perform better than a stock carb but it will be the limiting factor if you wind the engine up too much. To get the most performance with the governor removed, it would be best to upgrade to a billet flywheel and connecting rod followed by a slide type carburetor. and upgraded cam I have not done any of these mods on my engine. If you are thinking of modding the internals of the 224, the stroker crank it uses has clearance issues with the case and cam when using the billet connecting rod. It will work but it takes some extra massaging.

Hey one more question when you order the stage one kit, what jet did you get?
@jrosehose2084
@jrosehose2084 Год назад
What did you end up doing with the 2 extra hoses on the back of the OEM air filter?
@DougsMessyGarage
@DougsMessyGarage Год назад
To be honest, I haven't done anything with them at this point. I did order in a nice little kit (affiliate link below) that I will install when I dig the bike out in the spring. Filter kit: amzn.to/3YUr1rq
@dylanl6585
@dylanl6585 Год назад
@@DougsMessyGarage what does that kit do if u mind me asking? i just bight the stage 1 kit and idk what to do with the extra hoses
@DougsMessyGarage
@DougsMessyGarage Год назад
@@dylanl6585 The kit puts filters on the hoses so they don't puck any liquid all over the place. The hoses are vents meant to put the vented gasses into the original air box so they get pulled into the carb and burned. There shouldn't much if any liquid coming out but the filters control anything that does. You can just tie-wrap the hoses neatly behind the carb once the airbox is gone.
@LawfulYak
@LawfulYak Год назад
@@DougsMessyGarage is it necessary for the extra hoses to be open like that or does it need the mini air filters ?
@DougsMessyGarage
@DougsMessyGarage Год назад
@@LawfulYak My preference is to have the mini filters to keep any dust or dirt from getting pulled into the fuel of crank case. Cheap insurance.

How is this a stage one?
@DougsMessyGarage
@DougsMessyGarage 4 месяца назад
Yes. Stage two would be a governor removal and some internal upgrades along with a billet flywheel. Stage three would then include port and polish on the heads and likely an increase in compression ratio. I want to setup a lighting coil so I will likely not go much further performance wise on my little bike.
@NubsWithGuns

I think you lost your mind on this project. You reused the stock carb, there was no reason to swap the gasket around, what did you do with the one you took off that wasn't there? The hemi gasket is the same thing and idk who told you it wasn't, this much I can show. Just makes no sense.
@DougsMessyGarage
@DougsMessyGarage 5 месяцев назад
Step one is the stock carb, I’ll likely put a decent slide carb when I get back to it this spring. The funky spacer is because the stock predator 212 has that spacer on it, the Ducar built 224 incorporated it into the air box so by removing the air box, I lost the ‘spacer’. Fortunately I found the one I used on eBay. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
